Objective To investigate the effect of EMG-electrical stimulation on upper extremity function in patients with hemiplegia after stroke.Methods52 stroke patients with hemiplegia were randomly divided into the EMG-electrical stimulation group (27 cases) and control group (25 cases). All patients of two groups were treated with routine therapy and regularly physical therapy and occupational therapy, while those of the EMG-electrical stimulation group were given EMG-electrical stimulation training. The active range of motion (AROM) of wrist dorsiflexion was evaluated and upper extremity function was assessed by Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) pre-treatment and 2 months after treatment.ResultsThe upper extremity function of all patients in two groups improved and the patients of the EMG-electrical stimulation group were superior to those of the control group ( P<0.05). The AROM and FMA scores of the patients in the EMG-electrical stimulation group were significantly superior to that of the patients in the control group ( P<0.05).ConclusionThe EMG-electrical stimulation can improve the upper extremity function of hemiplegic patients after stoke.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of light intensity on photosynthetic characteristics and seedling growth of Prunella vulgaris under different light intensity.
METHODThe seedling of P. vulgaris was shaded with shading net, and relative parameters were measured. The data was statistically processed.
RESULTWith the reducing light intensity, the young plant stems became slender, the leaf long increased. The plant height and net growth under 42% full light condition were significantly higher than those under the other light intensity, chlorophy II and carotenoid contents increased, as well as Chl a/b decreased under low light. Photosynthetic indicators of P(n), T(r) decreased under low light, but CO2 concentration increased, and G(s) content decreases and then increased under 10% full light intensity.
CONCLUSIONP. vulgaris manifested the different plasticity and adaptability under different light intensities. The 42% light intensity was the best and the proper shading would promote the growth of seedlings.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2009;34(23):3060-3063
OBJECTIVEDynamic changes of quality and growth of Whitmania pigra were investigated to provide theoretical basis for quality control and determination of optimal harvest time.
METHODThe contents of moisture, ethanol-soluble extractive, total ash, and acid-insoluble ash, as well as antithrombin activity were determined according to Chinese pharmacopoeia (2005 edition).
RESULTQualities of W. pigra collected from different growth stages met the standards of Chinese pharmacopoeia (2005 edition). The highest amount of ethanol-soluble extract was found in 9-month-old, W. pigra, followed by 6-month-aged ones. And there was significant difference between 9-month-old and 4-month-old, 7 month-old and 11 month-old (P < 0.05). The highest antithrombin activity was detected in 6 month-old W. pigra, followed by 10 month-old. Significant differences of antithrombin activity were found between 6-month-old and 4 month-old ones, and 5 month-old (P < 0.05), however, there were no significant difference between 6 month-old ones with other samples. Eleven-month-old W. pigra got the most dry weight, and there were significant difference between 11 month-old ones with other samples (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONNovember, namely for 6 month old artificial cultivated W. pigra was the best harvest time in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the genetic differentiation and phylogenetic relationship between Whitmania pigra Whitman and Hirudo nipponia Whitman.
METHODBy the sequences of the rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) the molecular phylogenetic tree was constructed by MP method using software MEGA 4.0.
RESULTThe average length of ITS was 857.2-861.2 bp. The A, T, G and C contents in this fragment were 25.12%, 28.28%, 17.34%, 29.29%, respectively. The GC content was higher than the AT content. Little sequence variation was observed in ITS gene fragments with in species, and transition in only 45 loci was revealed in 14 populations. 14 W. pigra and H. nipponia populations were clustered into 2 groups by MP phylogenetic tree.
CONCLUSIONThe results also showed that the intraspecific variation was dominated in variation types of W. pigra and H. nipponia. The classification result of W. pigra and H. nipponia and its adulterants based on DNA sequences are not totally consistent with those based on classification. It showed that a little of mutation of base in ITS sequences had occurred in the process of evolution, such as transition cites, transvertion cites among base or base gap.

OBJECTIVETo examine the quality of Whitmania pigra from the different populations to provide the basis for new species selection.
METHODThe contents of the moisture, alcohol extractive, total ash, acid-insoluble ash, and the activity of antiplatelet aggregation enzyme of wild and the breeding W. pigra were determined by the methods were determined in Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2005 edition). The contents xanthine and hypoxanthine by HPLC.
RESULTIt showed that the contents of the alcohol extractive, total ash, acid-insoluble ash, antiplatelet aggregation enzyme, and xanthine and hypoxanthine content of the breeding population in Nanjing are lations. Many quality indexes of the breeding in Zhejiang Tongxiang base were beffer than the wild.
CONCLUSIONThe breeding W. pigra are good in quality, It suggested large-scale promotion of aquaculture.

Objective:To explore the prognostic significance of preoperative carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) in patients with stage Ⅳ colon cancer with simultaneous liver and/or lung metastasis, and establish a predictive model. Methods:Using the SEER database, 5 149 patients diagnosed with colon cancer from 2010 to 2015 were collected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. They were divided into a CEA positive group and a CEA negative group based on their preoperative CEA status. Based on the different CEA status and metastatic sites, we plotted different survival curves and analyzed the differences using the Log rank method. We used the Cox proportional risk model to analyze the risk factors affecting the prognosis of patients with simultaneous liver and/or lung metastasis in colon cancer, and constructed a column chart based on the results. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve of different variable models was calculated and the model discrimination wasevaluated. By using x-tile software, the optimal cutoff value for individual total scores was selected and risk levels were classified to predict patient prognosis. Results:CEA positive colon cancer patients with liver and/or lung metastasis had a poor prognosis, with a 5-year survival rate of 13.4%. Cox proportional risk analysis showed that CEA positive patients had an increased risk of death compared to negative patients after adjusting for other factors ( HR=1.64). After incorporating the CEA+ X, X (independent risk factors other than CEA), and AJCC T+ N models, the areas under the ROC curve were 0.712, 0.706, and 0.59, respectively. According to the prediction score given in the column chart, the x-tilie selected for the best cutoff score was 262.5, which can be divided into high-risk and low-risk populations. The Log rank test was P<0.05. Conclusions:The preoperative CEA level has important predictive value for the prognosis of stage IV colon cancer patients with simultaneous liver and/or lung metastasis. The survival prediction model and column chart for colorectal cancer patients with liver and/or lung metastasis established based on the Cox proportional risk model are of great significance for patient prognosis evaluation and are conducive to the selection of personalized treatment plans.
