OBJECTIVE: To explore the molecular mechanisms of Shengqing Capsules in treating cholelithiasis. METHODS: Sixty female guinea pigs were randomized into 3 groups: group I (fed with normal diet), group II (fed with low-protein diet) and group III (fed with low-protein diet and Shengqing Capsules). After six-week feeding, the gallstone formation and the expressions of bilirubin UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (B-UGT) mRNA and cholesterol 7alpha-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) mRNA were observed. RESULTS: The proportions of stone-formed in groups I, II and III were 2/14, 9/12 and 4/14, respectively. There were significant differences among the three groups (P<0.05). The expressions of B-UGT and CYP7A1 mRNAs were higher in both group I and group III as compared with those in the group II (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Shengqing Capsules can reduce the rate of stone-formation, which may be due to its interference of metabolism of bilirubin and cholesterol and up-regulation of the expressions of B-UGT and CYP7A1 mRNAs.

Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and immunological mechanism of herbal cake-partitioned moxibustion for aging process.Method:The herbal cake-partitioned moxibustion was adopted for 223 cases to observe the aging scores before and after the treatment.Apart from that, the T-lymphocyte subsets and changes of IL-2 and 3-EP were also detected. Results:After treatment, the aging scores of 223 cases were all substantially reduced, along with an improvement of clinical symptoms,a strengthened cellular immune function, and an increase of total T-lymphocyte count. In addition, the CD4+/CD8+ ratio Was restored normal, the synthesis or secretion of IL-2 was increased and the β-EP(as the neurotransmitter to modulate immune function)was substantially improved. Conclusion:The aging process is closely associated with the immune function.Moxibustion Can modulate abnormal immune function and stabilize homeostasis and thus delay the aging process.

Urinary incontinence was known as the"social cancer", has become a prominent social public question. The conservative treatment based on pelvic floor exercise was the preferred non-surgical treatment of the disease. However, the patient treatment compliance was not high. Studies found that self-efficacy can predict pelvic floor muscle exercise compliance of patients. Therefore, this article will review the research tools of urinary incontinence patients, so that to help the clinical nursing staffs adopt effective interventions for patients with urinary incontinence, to help patients with self-management and improve patients' quality of life.

Objective To study perioperative period conditions of total and partial colpocleisis with severe pelvic organ prolapse(POP)in elderly patients. Methods From Jan. 2014 to Oct. 2017286 severe POP elderly patients underwent total or partial colpocleisis. The mean age was(76.0±5.1)years(60-90 years). Of which,220 patients(76.9%, 220/286)presented more than one kind of medical disease. The operative time, intraoperative blood loss, hospital stay after surgery, postoperative complications, preoperative urinary dysuria symptoms of total and partial colpocleisis in treatment of 286 patients were analyzed. Results In 286 patients, 172 patients(60.1%)underwent total colpocleisis and 114 patients(39.9%) underwent partial colpocleisis. Totally 48 patients(16.8%)in 286 patients underwent anti-urinary incontinence procedure. The mean operating time of 286 patients was(67 ± 22)minutes, the mean blood loss was(52 ±57)ml, the mean hospital stay after surgery was(5.9 ± 1.9)days(2-16 days). The rate of postoperative complications was 8.7%(25/286). Those complications including 1 case of bladder injury during operation, 3 cases of postoperative pelvic hematoma, 1 case of intestinal obstruction, 5 cases of atrial fibrillation, 10 cases of postoperative morbidity, 3 cases of pulmonary embolism, 1 case of lower limb thrombosis, 1 case of urinary retention underwent electrical stimulation treatment because of ineffective application of urinary retention catheter. The mean operating time was(67±22)minutes in total colpocleisis and(68±20) minutes in partial colpocleisis(P>0.05), the mean blood loss was(58±62)ml in total colpocleisis and(41± 45)ml in partial colpocleisis(P>0.05), the mean hospital stay after surgery was(5.9 ± 1.9)days in total colpocleisis and(6.0 ± 1.8)days in partial colpocleisis(P>0.05), the rate of post operative complications was 8.1%(14/172) in total colpocleisis and 9.6%(11/114)in partial colpocleisis(P>0.05), respectively;those four of comparisons showed no significant difference. There were 129 patients(45.1%, 129/286)with voiding difficulty before surgery;the mean postvoid residual volumes of the above two operation types of people after operation were(35 ± 43)and(34 ± 41)ml, which showed no significant difference(P>0.05). Conclusions Colpocleisis is a safe and effective management in selected elderly patients with severe POP, who no longer desire to maintain vaginal coital function. There is no significant difference in the perioperative period conditions between total and partial colpocleisis. The choice of surgical procedure is based on factors such as the presence or absence of malignancy in the uterus, age and willingness of the patient, and general condition.

Objective:The purpose of this case report is to improve the understanding of pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) and its related complications by reviewing case data and literature. Methods:A case of huge PAVM complicated with brain abscess and paradoxical embolization of liver, spleen and kidney is reported, and then we summarize its clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment, and review the relevant references. Results:Brain abscess and paradoxical embolization are the most common complications of PAVM. The diagnosis and process of this patient was timely and clear. The patient received interventional embolization for PAVM and achieved good results. Conclusions:PAVM can cause brain abscess and paradoxical embolization. We should be vigilant to avoid missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis.
