Shanghai Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion 2016;35(5):571-573
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of grain-sized moxibustion at Yongquan (KI 1) plus electroacupuncture in treating lumbar intervertebral disc herniation (LIDH).Method Fifty LIDH patients were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 25 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened by grain-sized moxibustion plus electroacupuncture, while the control group was by dry electroacupuncture. The Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score were observed, and the clinical efficacies were compared.Result After treatment, the VAS and JOA scores were significantly different from that before treatment in both groups (P<0.01). After treatment, the VAS and JOA scores in the treatment group were significantly different from that in the control group (P<0.01,P<0.05). The recovery plus markedly-effective rate and total effective rate were respectively 72.0% and 96.0% in the treatment group, versus 52.0% and 80.0% in the control group, and there was a significant difference in comparing the recovery plus markedly-effective rate (P<0.01).Conclusion Grain-sized moxibustion at Yongquan (KI 1) plus electroacupuncture is an effective approach in treating LIDH.

Modern Clinical Nursing 2015;14(10):37-39
Objective To explore the blood sugar controlling for elderly patients with fracture and diabetes mellitus. Methods Twenty patients with fracture complicated with diabetes were managed with mental education and diet controlling. Meanwhile nursing measures were done to prevent infections, bedsores and deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Results The fasting blood sugar levels of the 20 elderly patients were well controlled below 7.8 mmol / L. There were no related complications. Conclusion Such nursing measures as psychological counseling and diet control are helpful for a steady maintenance of blood sugar for feasibility of surgical operation, to ensure successful manipulation of the surgical operation. Prevention of infection, bedsore and DVT is critical for ensuring the success of operations.

ObjectiveTo explore activity characteristics of diverse autonomic nervous system of armymen with different mental quality levels during dread emotion processes.MethodsMental Quality Questionnaire of Armymen was used to select participants. The activities of the diverse autonomic nervous system of armymen withdifferent mental quality levels during dread emotion processes were discussed by physiological - psychological experiments. Results ( 1 ) Under neutral condition blood volume pulse (BPV) is greater in low mental quality group( ( -0.87 ±0.64)mm Hg) than in high( -0.28 ±0.24)mm Hg).(2) During dread emotion processes the normalized low frequency spectral component(LF) and skin conductance (SC) are greater in low mental quality group ( (6.54 ± 2.96) nU),(0.78 ± 0.11 ) umho) than in moderate ( ( 1.32 ± 1.25 ) nU,( (0.22 ± 0.15 ) umho) and high ((3.51 ±2.28 )nU,((0.30 ±0.12) umho).(3) During dread emotion processes the recovery time of HR and the average recovery time of skin conductance( SC ),skin temperature( ST),blood volume pulse(BVP) and HR are greater in low mental quality ( 61.58 ± 35.66 ) s,( 36.78 ± 18.58 ) s ) than in high ( ( 22.36 ± 6.87 ) s,(56.87 ± 23.98 ) s).(4) In emotional arousal, and low mental quality (0.88 ± 2.54 ) in neutral conditions change their arousal'was significantly greater than the middle (0.57 ± 2.88) and high psychological quality group (0.15 ± 1.87) ; Low mental quality group (2.17 ±2.39) under the conditions of pleasure in the dread was significantlygreater than the middle ( 1.87 ± 1.45 ) and high psychological quality group ( 1.24 ± 1.66).ConclusionThe findings indicate that armymen with low mental quality is more likely to show corresponding physiological arousal and alert status in face of the neutral or weak emotional stimuli. When facing dread emotional stimuli, they would show stronger physiological arousal mainly basing on the excitement of sympathetic nerve system, and such statuswould last much longer to bring about more fierce pain experience.

Objective To explore the clinical characteristics and diagnosis of autoimmune pancreatitis(AIP) with the aim to raise awareness of AIP.Methods Clinical data of 32 patients with AIP were retrospectively analyzed, including clinical manifestations, imaging features, laboratory examination, histopathology and treatment from November 2009 to April 2013 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Medical School,Zhejiang University. Results All 32 AIP patients including 25 males and 7 females had a median age of (62.5 ± 12.6) years (27-84 years). The initial symptoms included obstructive jaundice in 50.0%patients (16/32),abdominal pain in 43.8% (14/32),fatigue and weight loss in 12.5% (4/32),and bloody stool in 6.3% (2/32).Laboratory findings revealed abnormal liver function in 6.3% (2/32)patients,increased immunoglobulins in 71.9% (23/32)patients and elevated IgG4 in 8/10 patients.Computerized tomography(CT) scan and ultrasonography were performed in all patients.Diffusely enlarged pancreas were found in 62.5% (20/32) patients and focally enlarged in 37.5% (12/32),additionally main pancreatic duct stenosis in 62.5% (20/32) patients.Nineteen patients obtained histopathological examination, indicating pancreatic interstitial fibrosis, and infiltration of lymphocytes and plasma cells. Conclusions Autoimmune pancreatitis is an autoimmune disease which may be misdiagnosed as pancreatic cancer. The clinical features, laboratory findings, imaging characteristics, and typical histopathologic presentation,as well as good response to glucocorticoids provide supportive evidence for the diagnosis of AIP.

Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2010;33(22):18-21
Objective To analyze the factors influencing augmentation index (AI) by examining the AI changes in patients who received continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) therapy, and evaluate the artery elastic function situation. Methods The height, weight, blood pressure, blood indicators were detected in 46 CAPD patients (CAPD group) and 42 controls (control group). AI was managed by OMRON HEM-90OOAI, and the influencing factor was analyzed. Results Systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP), pulse pressure, central aortic pressure and AIp75 (AI value, when pulse was 75 beats/min) in CAPD group were significantly higher than those in control group. Within CAPD patients, the AIp75, in female was significantly higher than that in nude [(96.67±8.95 )% vs (89.89±6.46)% ,P =0.022]. Simple correlation showed positive relationship in gender, age, SBP, DBP, pulse pressure and central aortic pressure with AI; and negative relationship in height, weight and weight index with AI; while there was no relationship between AI and all kinds of chemical examination indicators or dialysis years.Multiple linear regression analysis evidenced that gender, age, height, DBP and central aortic pressure of CAPD patients had linear regression relation with AI. Conclusions It indicates a decreased artery elasticity and an increased stiffness occurs in CAPD patients. AI has tight correlation with age, height, DBP and central aortic pressure, and is an non-invasive factor thai partially reflects the arterial elasticity. Central aortic pressure is relevant with aortic elasticity and rigidity closely. Measuring central aortic pressure is very imporrant for preventing cardiovascular accident.
