Cancer Research and Clinic 2015;(7):499-501
Esophageal cancer is one of the most high incidence of malignant tumors in China. However, the evaluation of chemoradiotherapy curative effect for esophageal cancer is lack of accurate and uniform criteria. In recent years, the imaging evaluation methods for chemoradiotherapy response in esophageal cancer have made some progress. The methods mainly include X-ray barium examination, endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS), computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT), and so on. Imaging examination has the advantages of safety, non-invasion and repeatability, and so on, which is a progressing tool for curative effect evaluation. Current status of the application of medical imaging which is used to evaluate esophageal cancer chemoradiotherapy curative effect were reviewed in this paper.

Objective To study the effect of oxymatrine on p-STAT3 and PIAS3 signaling molecule and it's mRNA expression in the proliferation of the human mesangial cells (HMCs) induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) and to explore their relationship. Methods HMCs were divided into three groups: control group, LPS group and oxymatrine group. HMC proliferation was detected by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay. Type Ⅳ collagen in the supernatants of the cultured HMCs was detected by ELISA at 12, 24, 48 hours respectively. At the same time, the protein and mRNA expressions of p-STAT3 and PIAS3 were measured by Western blot and real-time quantitative RT-PCR. Results The cell proliferation, the mRNA and protein expression of type Ⅳ collagen, p-STAT3 in LPS group were increased compared with the control group (P<0.01), but they were decreased in oxymatrine group (P < 0.01). The expressions of protein and mRNA of PIAS3 in LPS group were decreased significantly compared with control group (P<0.01), but they were increased in oxymatrine group (P<0.01). Conclusion Oxymatrine can down-regulate the expression of p-STAT3 and up-regulate the expression of PIAS3, which plays an important role in the process of LPS-induced HMCs proliferation.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2015;35(7):723-726
The connotations of "du-fu" and "Sanli" in "Sanli acupoint for du-fu diseases" are discussed in this paper, which can provide theoretical foundation for the clinical application of "Sanli acupoint for du-fu diseases". Based on ancient literature combined with related theories in the Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Classic), a deep discussion is performed through the relationship between Zusanli (ST 36) and stomach, indication and mechanism of Zusanli (ST 36) on du-fu diseases and comparison between Zusanli (ST 36) and Shousanli (LI 10). It is believed that "du" should be pronounced as "dŭ", meaning stomach, and it indicates that Zusanli (ST 36) is closely related to stomach and spleen when it is used for du-fu diseases; "fu" means abdomen area, including liver-gallbladder, spleen, stomach-intestine, kidney, uterus, triple energizer; "sanli' means exclusively the acupoint of Zusanli (ST 36).

Objectives To determine the effects of Matrine (Ma) on signal transducers and activators of transcription (STAT) 1, 3, connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) and platelet -derived growth factor (PDGF) in glomerular mesangial cells (MC) induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS), and to explore the protective mechanisms of Ma. Methods Ma were added to cultured glomerular mesangial cells which were exposed to LPS for 12, 24 and 48 hours. Real time polymerase chain reaction were used to determine STAT1, 3, CTGF, PDGF mRNA, The protein expression of STATI, 3 and p-STAT1, 3 were observed by Western blot. Results Compared with the control group, MC proliferation of the LPS group (10μg/ml) significantly increased, which were suppressed in the Ma (320 μg/ml) group (P < 0.01) at 12, 24, 48 hours. The expression of STAT1, 3, CTGF, PDGF mRNA and the levels of p-STAT1 , p-STAT3 protein was significantly increased in MC under LPS medium at 12, 24, 48 hours, which were obviously lower in Ma group than those of the LPS group, especially at 24, 48 hours. Conclusions The protective mechanisms of Matrine is considered to down-regulate the expression of STAT1, 3, CTGF and PDGF.

Objective To explore the possible mechanism of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in learning and memory ability of Alzheimer's disease (AD) rats. Methods 90 SD rats with no differ-ence in learning and memory were selected and 30 rats were randomly selected as control group. The rest 60 were used for establishment of AD model by injecting A beta 1-42 into bilateral hippocampus of rats ,which was verified by Morris water maze test and immunohistochemistry. The successfully prepared model rats were randomly divided into AD group and (rTMS+AD) group,30 rats in each group. The (rTMS+AD) group was treated with rTMS,and the control group and AD group with pseudo stimulation. After intervention,Water maze test,EEG acquisition and analysis, immunohistochemistry and statistical analysis were done. Results (1)Compared with control group, the escape latency of AD group was longer and the average distance from the platform was farther away. Compared with AD group, the escape latency of (rTMS+AD) group was significantly longer and the average distance from the platform was significantly farther away (P<0.05).(2)Compared with control group, the LZ complexity of EEG signals in AD group was decreased. Compared with the AD group, the LZ complexity of EEG signals in (rTMS+AD) group was significantly increased statistically(P< 0.05).(3)The results of immunohistochemistry showed that there was no plaque in the brain tissues of control rats. The morphology of the cells was clear ,and the cells arranged neatly. Myelin staining was deeper and the distribution was long andconnected. There was plaque in the brain tissues of AD rats. Brain tissue cells became atrophy ,the morphology of the cells was not clear ,and the cells arranged randomly. Myelin staining was lighter and the distribution was short and disconnected. Compared with AD group, the cell atrophy of (rTMS+AD) group was reduced, and Myelin staining became deeper. Conclusions rTMS can increase the distribution of myelin in brain tissue ,raise the LZ complexity of EEG signals in AD model rats , and improve the learning and memory ability of them.
