1.THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HYPERGLYCEMIA AND HYPERLIPIDEMIA IN NIDDM PATIENTS
Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 1985;0(02):-
To investigate the relationship between hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia in diabetics, eighty-six patients with non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) were followed up for 6 to 12 months. The results showed that plasma TC, TG, LDL-C levels and LDL-C/HDL-C ratio were elevated in diabetic group as compared with normal control group. Plasma TC and LDL-C levels in the diabetics with mean fasting blood glucose (mFBG) level more than 150 mg/dl were significantly higher than those in diabetics with mFBG less than 150 mg/dl, and those in normal control group as well, but plasma TC, LDL-C and TG levels showed no significant difference between diabetics with mFBG less than 150 mg/ dl and normal controls. The disturbances of lipid metabolism were obviously alleviated following the improvement of diabetic control. These results suggest that better diabetic control can be beneficial to the improvement of lipid metabolic disorders and might be helpful to the prevention of angiopathy in NIDDM patients.

China Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy 2005;0(01):-
In the past five thousand years, the advanced theory and effective practice of traditional Chinese medicine have played a key role in the prosperity and population growth of traditional Chinese people. This article analyzed the opportunities and challenges that traditional Chinese medicine faces in its current state of development and discussed the progressiveness of traditional Chinese medicine theory and practices. The author advocates that "the essential task of developing traditional Chinese medicine is to preserve and expand the progressiveness of traditional Chinese medicine theory and practices".In the 21 century, human health concept and medicine model have been changing. And,the fast pace development in modern technology and our country's growing emphasis in traditional Chinese medicine offer a great opportunity for traditional Chinese medicine to evolve. In such a juncture, the author believes that the key to the further development of traditional Chinese medicine rests in the correct understanding, preservation and expansion of the advanced traditional Chinese medicine theory and practices. To do so,we need to focus on "fundamental development" and "independence innovation" aiming at using traditional Chinese medicine to continuous improving our capability not only in disease prevention and treatment but also in science and technology innovation to allow traditional Chinese medicine to make more contribution in protecting human health.
6.RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PLASMA MAGNESIUM AND PLASMA LIPIDS IN TYPE II DIABETES MELLITUS
Journal of Chongqing Medical University 1986;0(04):-
The relationship between plasma magnesium and plasma lipids was studied in 80 cases of Type II diabetes mellitus. It was found that plasma magnesium in diabetic patients was much lower than that in normal controls. Plasma magnesium was negatively correlated with plasma cholesterol, triglyceride, and LDL-C, and positively correlated with plasma HDL-C, HDL2, and HDL-C/LDL-C, suggesting that hypom-agnesemia was closely related with disturbance in lipid metabolism in diabetes mellitus. Hypomagnesemia seemed to worsen the disturbance of lipid metabolism, and might be one of the factors causing vascular complications in diabetes mellitus

9.Effects of TCM Preconditioning of Warming Yang and Supplementing Heart Qi on Myocardial Ultrastructure of Rats with Acute Myocardial Ischemia
Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine 2006;0(07):-
Objective To observe the effects of TCM preconditioning of warming Yang and supplementing heart Qi on the myocardial ultrastructure of rats with acute myocardial ischemia, and discuss its protection on the ischemia reperfusion myocardium and relation with myocardial ischemic preconditioning. Method Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups, 3 of which were fed normally, one of which was administered with TCM, and myocardial infarction model was established after 10 days. IR group were reperfused 48 hours after 45 min of ischemia. TCM group were treated with prophylactic administration of 0.36 g/100 g body weight for 10 days before the same ischemia and reperfusion as IR group. IP group were also performed the same ischemia and reperfusion as IR group after 5 min of ischemia and 5 min of reperfusion three times. The myocardial ultrastructure of rats was observed by electron microscope. Results In IR group:sarcolemma damaged, myofilament dissolved and fragmented, arranged loosely, mitochondria arranged confused, some mitochondria looked like cavitation or partly cavitation, some also presented coacervation state, glycogen decreased. And the myocardium damaged badly, it proved that part of the myocardium damaged after the ischemia reperfusion. In TCM and IP groups:the state of the cardiocytes were improved relatively and the sarcolemmas were integrated, the cardiocytes’ nucleoli presented to be oval-shape, and the nucleoli looked obviously, the mitochondria were showed relatively obviously, myofilaments were well arranged, the bright and dark bands of the sarcomeres looked apparently, mitochondria arranged in good order between the myofibrils, but still some myofilaments were broke and part of the mitochondria presented cavitation state. Conclusion The myocardial ischemic preconditioning and TCM preconditioning of warming Yang and supplementing heart Qi both can protect the ischemic myocardium through mitigating the damages of the myocardial ultrastructure, and they have the similar protection effects on the damaged myocardial ultrastructure of the rats with ischemia reperfusion.
