Purpose:To investigate the features of midkine( MK) protein expression and the correlation between MK expression with angiogenes is and prognosis in non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC). Methods:Immunohistochemistry analysis for MK and microvessel de nsity(MVD) were performed on 44 samples of tumor tissue. Results:No positivity expression was detected in either the lun g tissue close to tumor or normal lung tissue,but 26 of 44 NSCLC tissue showed a positive reaction to MK immunostain. Significant correlation between MK express ion with MVD enhancement and lymph metastasis in NSCLC was found,and the surviva l terms in NSCLC with MK expression were significantly shorter than those in NSC LC without MK expression.The enhanced MVD was related to lymph metastasis signif icantly,and the survival terms in NSCLC with enhanced MVD were significantly sho rter than those in NSCLC without enhancement. Conclusions:In human non-small-cell lung cancer, MK overexpre ssion at the protein level may very well be closely related to angiogenesis and metastasis. MK protein may be one of the predictors for prognosis in NSCLC.

Objective To study the effects of Bitong mixture on children with chronic sinusitis and nasal polyp in perioperative period.Methods 72 patients acquired for nasal endoscope were randomly divided into a combining traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment group and a control group.The control group was given traditional western medical treatment,and treatment group was given Bitong mixture on that basis.Results ①clinical effects:Total effective rate of postoperative 3 months、6 months、9 months was 94.59％、88.89％、80.00％ in the treatment group respectively and 88.57％、80.00％、66.67％ in the control group respectively.Compared the two groups after treatment at the same time,differences were statistically significant (x2=6.41 、6.81、7.22,P＜0.05).The efficacy of 12 months after operation in the treatment group and control group declined compared with that of 3 months after operation in each group,but still significant differences existed between groups (x2=6.08、6.98,P＜0.05).②symptom score:symptoms improvements such as alleviating headaches 、reducing pus stuff at 2 weeks 、1 months 、3 months after treatment in the treatment group was obvious than those before the treatment (P＜0.01),and also better than those in the control group at the same time.The improving blocked nose,sense of smell after three months treatment in the treatment group were better than those of the control group respectively at the time(P＜0.05).Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine can effectively improve symptoms,enhance the curative effect in children with chronic sinusitis and nasal polyp at perioperative period,and it is worth of further clinical application and research.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the exerted force in different phases of the female menstrual cycle, as well as the changes in estrogen (E2), osteocalcin (OCN), receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappa B ligand (RANKL), and osteoprotegerin (OPG) levels in the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) during orthodontic tooth movement, to provide a theoretical basis for the selection of the best opportunity for efficient tooth movement.

METHODSTwelve women (aged 18 years to 28 years) with extracted first premolars had been selected. Six women in the group were randomly selected as the menstrual period group, whereas the remaining six were assigned to the ovulation period group. Right canines were retracted with 1.5 N NiTi close coil spring. GCF samples were collected prior to the force exertion experiments at 0 (T0), 15 (T1), 30 (T2), and 45 d (T3). The levels of E2, OCN, OPG and RANKL in GCF were measured by chemiluminescence and enzymelinked immunosorbent assay.

RESULTSThe E2 and OCN levels were significantly higher in the ovulation period group than in the menstrual period group (P < 0.05). No significant differences were found in RANKL and OPG levels between the two groups (P > 0.05). Finally, no significant difference was found in RANKL/OPG ratio between the two groups (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONExerted force on teeth during the menstrual period may promote rapid tooth movement.

OBJECTIVEPeriodontal tissue remodeling includes remodeling of alveolar bone, periodontal ligament, and cementum. Cementoblast plays a main role in repairing root resorption. Canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling can promote the odontogenic differentiation in osteoblast. However, the mechanism on how the orthodontic force influences the function of cementoblast and the relationship between the canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling and Runx2 of cementoblast are not yet known. The aim of this study is focus on this relationship.

METHODSOCCM30 cementoblasts were subjected to mechanical strain by four-point bending system with tension stress for 0, 3, 6, and 12 h. They were pretreated with different concentrations of Dikkopf-1 (DKK1) for 48 h. Western blot analysis was performed to detect the β-catenin levels in the nucleus. Runx2 mRNA was observed by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). OCCM30 cementoblasts were then pretreated with 150 ng · mL(-1) DKK1 for 48 h and subjected to mechanical strain by FX4000T system with tension stress for 12 h. Western blot analysis was conducted to detect the β-catenin levels in the nucleus, and Runx2 mRNA was observed by RT-PCR.

RESULTSOCCM30 cementoblasts had significantly higher Runx2 mRNA and β-catenin levels after being loaded with mechanical stress. The amount of Runx2 mRNA in OCCM30 cementoblasts was significantly decreased by DKK1. When OCCM30 cemento-blasts were pretreated with DKK1 without stress, their β-catenin level was significantly decreased by DKK1 and Wnt signaling was blocked. When they were not pretreated with stress, the β-catenin level with DKK1 was lower than that without DKK1. Without DKK1, the β-catenin level in OCCM30 cemento- blasts increased afterbeing loaded with mechanical stress. With DKK1, the β-catenin level in OCCM30 cementoblasts, which were loaded with mechanical stress, was higher than that without mechanical stress.

CONCLUSIONCementoblasts had higher Runx2 mRNA expression under mechanical stress because of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway effect.

Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics of five Sj(o)gren's syndrome (SS) patients with severe ostalgia. Methods Five SS patients from the endocrinology department of our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Results All the patients were female, with 9.5 year average course of disease, obvious ostalgia, muscle weakness and complaint, limitation of activity, and different degree of exocrine gland impairment. All the patients had different degree of acidosis, disorders of calcium and phosphorus metabolism, and dyspoiesis of calcitriol. Among them, three patients were found to have hyperinsulinemia and muscle pathological changes detected by the biopsy. Conclusions System factors must be investigated when patients present the bone symptom. At the same time, muscle problem should not be neglected and the patients should be treated as an entirety.

Objective To explore the indication,operative methods,operation skill and prevention of complications of mammotome(MMT) in breast diseases.Methods From Aug.2009 to Aug.2013,3676 breast lesions in 1356 patients received MMT micro-invasive operation by decussation process with different incision and needle tracks according to the location of lesions.Experience of the indication,operation technique and prevention of complications were summed up.Results 775 lesions were in left breast and 639 in right breast.652 patients had single lesion and 865 patients had multiple lesions.The pathology results:320 cysts (8.71％,320/3676) were adenosis of breast with mammary duct ectasia or with metaplasia apocrine.36 solid and cystic tumors (0.98％,36/3676)were intraductal papillomas.3310 solid tumors (90.04％)included 13 breast cancers (0.39％,13/3310),2246 fibroadenomas(67.85％,2246/3310) and 1051 adenosis(31.75％,1051/3310).10nodules of calcification were adenosis of breast.13 patients with breast cancer received modified radical mastectomy.The postoperative results:skin bruises in 184 cases(5％),hematoma in 36 cases(0.98％).No postoperative residual was found.Conclusion According to the strict application of MMT minimally invasive surgery and by decussation process based on the appropriate incision and needle track,MMT minimally invasive surgery can achieve safe,minimally invasive,good-looking and completely removal effect.

Objective To explore the effect of problem-based learning(PBL)in x-ray cephalometric teaching.Method Forty students were divided into two groups:the conventional teaching group(A)and the PBL group(B),each team twenty students.The teaching effectiveness was evaluated by subjective questionnaire and objective test.Resulte The evalution shows that group B was significantly superior to group A.Conclusions Problem-based learning can im-prove the students' understanding of the significance of cephalometric and deserve to be popu-larized in experiment teaching.

Objective · To observe the micro-structure changes in rat tooth movement process under different force values through Micro-CT dynamic observation. Methods · Fifteen SD adult male rats at the age of 8 weeks were divided into three groups randomly (n=5), with the left maxillary as the experimental side and the nickel titanium coil springs, fixed between the first molar and incisor where thrust augmentation was conducted respectively by 20, 50 and 100 gf (1gf=0.0098 N) for continuous 14 d to it. Rat scanning in vivo through Micro-CT was carried out at day 0, 3, 7, 10 and 14 after force values were loaded on. The root resorption crater volumes and structure parameters for bone trabecula at different time points were measured. Results · Three days after thrust augmentation was conducted, root resorption crater volume for each group had a slight increase and an obvious increase occurred from the 3rd day to the 10th day, and then a slow increase happened 10 d later; from the 7th day to the 14th day, root resorption crater volume for 100 gf stress group was obviously greater than those of the other groups with statistical differences (P<0.05). With time for thrust augmentation passing by, bone volume fraction at the pressure side of alveolar bone decreased gradually and bone trabecula morphology became tiny and exiguous; besides, bone trabecula gap became narrow first and broad afterwards, and trabeculae trended to change from clintheriform to rhabditiform. Furthermore, alveolar bone resorption occurred in each stress group with consistent tendency. Conclusion · Different orthodontic force values all can cause root resorption, which experiences lag phase, rapid phase and stationary phase. Over-loaded orthodontic force induces more root resorption. During the process of the tooth movement, the pressure side of alveolar bones appears reconstruction and absorption, whose variation is not related with force degree.

Objective The application value of CTA for BA in interventional theray of lung cancer.Methods 15 patients with lung cancers including central type(13 cases)and peripheral type(2 cases) proven by pathology were analyzed prospectively.They were all examined with contrast enhanced.MDCT and the data were sent to the workstation and reconstructed with thin section multi-planar reformation(MPR),maximum intensity projection(MIP)and volume rendering(VR).Results All cases of central type lung cancer were supplied by the bronchial artery including two by the bronchial artery and intercostal artery,clearly demonstrated on the scans with the origin,branches and routes.One case of peripheral lung cancer was supplied by the bronchial artery and the other could not find the definite supplying artery.Conclusions CTA of BA for lung cancer can provide the accurate localization and other reference data for interventional therapy.
