Objective To investigate the common complications related to glomus jugulare tumors surgery, their influencing factors, and to search for the effective treatments of these complications. Methods A retrospective study was undertaken on the complications observed in 47 patients with glomus jugulare tumors who underwent 51 times of operation via trans external auditory canal approach, the retroauricular approach, and modified infratemporal fossa approach type A.All cases were followed up over 1 month after surgery. Results Of 51 cases, the most frequent complication was total conductive hearing loss which occurred in 21 cases(41.2%),facial paralysis was found in 15 cases(29.4%) and lower cranial nerve palsy was found in 14 cases(27.5%) after one month.Other complications were cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) leak, hearing disability and vertigo, each in 3 cases(5.9%);cerebral infarction, partial auricle necrosis and parotid gland fistula, each occurred in one case(2.0%).Pre-operative selective embolization of feeding vessels can reduce intraoperative blood loss significantly in most cases.Effective hemostasis and hypotensive anesthesia during operation were the important ways to prevent complications and hematoma within operating field.CSF leak in this series was an uncommon complication. Two cases with CSF leak from the wound had been successfully controlled with conservative treatment. One case with CSF leak required surgical management.None of these patients developed meningitis. Conclusions There is a low level of serious post-operative complications in operation on glomus jugulare tumor.Factors found to be relevant to post-operative complications are tumor type and tumor size. The key factors to avoid the complications include surgical experience, surgical skill and preoperative evaluation of patients′ imaging information.

Objective To review the anatomic and visual outcomes of a series of patients with macular holes who underwent vitreous surgery without adjunctive therapy. Methods We performed a retrospective review of 16 patients who underwent vitrectomy, fluid-gas exchange and perflu oropropane(C3 F8) gas temponade for 14 eyes with idiopathic and 2 eyes with traumatic macular holes. Results Anatomical closure of the macular holes was achieved in 15(93%) of 16 eyes with an average follow-up of 7 months. Only one eye needed performing second surgery. Three(19%) eyes achieved postoperative visual acuity of 0.4, four (25%)eyes 0.2~0.3,and nine(56%)eyes 0.1 or worse. Conclusions Vitreous surgery without adjunctive therapy with intraocular gas tamponade and postoperative posturing is a well tolerated and effective intervention for idiopathic or some traumatic macular holes. Anatomical closure of the macular hole is associated with a significant improvement in visual acuity in most eyes.

Objective To explore clinical value of transvagiTIa ultrasound in diagnosis of cctopie oviductpregnancy. Methods EUB-2000 ultrasound diagnosis meter was used, the vagina probe head frequency is 5~10MHz,after the vagina to the womb, the double-side ovary, the double side oviduct and its periphery organizes to carry on omni-direetionally sweeps looks up.Results Transvagina ultrasound diagnosis ectopic pregnancy center oviduct pot abdomen pregnancy 158 cases, the oviduct canyon department 4 cases, between the oviduct the nature department pregnancy 2 cases, all pass through the cefioseope of our hospital.Coincidence rate was 100%.Conclusion Transvagina ultrasound diagnosis ectopie pregnancy is one of most accurate ultrasound diagnosis methods presendy, suggested various basic units hospital widely develops.

Objective The role of this essay is to explore the relationship of BIM deletion polymorphism and paclitaxel intrinsic resistance in breast cancer. Methods Human breast cancer cell lines were screened by techniques of PCR and gene sequencing to detect BIM deletion polymorphism.MTS was used to detect the cytotoxic effects of paclitaxel in different cell lines. Meanwhile, levels of BIM mRNA and protein were detected by rtPCR and Western Blot. Results Comparing with the wild type cell line(MCF7),T47D was a deletion cell line with BIM deletion polymorphism and resistant to paclitaxel(T47D vs.MCF-7,IC50>30le vs.IC50=0.16 vs.02 μmol/L). Moreover, the ratio of BIM EXON3 to EXON4 was significantly increased and the level of functional BIM protein was down-regulated in T47D compared with MCF7(P < 0.05). Conclusion BIM deletion polymorphism might initiate intrinsic resistance to paclitaxel therapy in breast cancer.
