OBJECTIVETo analyse different factors related to the occurrence of bladder neck contracture (BNC) and to find possible ways of reducing this complication.
METHODSAll putative factors and the numbers of BNC cases were studied with statistical analyses in 1,017 cases that had undergone transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP).
RESULTSThe morbidity of BNC after TURP was significantly higher than that of open operations. Small size of the prostate, longer time of operation, higher power in resection and prostatitis were factors of BNC.
CONCLUSIONProperties of the prostate and electrical current injuries of resection are the primary factors of BNC. The selection of patients and techniques of TURP are most important in decreasing the morbidity of BNC.

2.Awareness and associated factors of food safety among students in medical colleges and universities in Shandong Province
Chinese Journal of School Health 2019;40(8):1159-1161
Objective:
To understand the status of awarences and the influencing factors of food safety among medical students in Shangdong Province, and to provide a reference for improving a healthy eating habit among students on their knowledge about food safety, attitude and behavior.
Methods:
A total of 2 322 students from 2 medical colleges and universities in Shandong province selected through stratified cluster sampling were investigated with questionnaires.
Results:
Univariate analysis of variance showed that food safety knowledge differed by gender, grade, major, origin of student, whether learned nutrition knowledge, monthly cost on food (χ2/H=20.48, 128.02, 98.61, 36.50, 77.60, 171.03,P<0.01). In multiple Logistic regression analysis, results showed that gender, major, origin of student, monthly cost on food and the attention of food affect college students’ food safety awareness (P<0.05).
Conclusion
Food safety awareness among medical students in Shandong Province is relatively high but varies by multiple factors. It is necessary to improve food safety awareness of medical students through various channels.

Objective: To establish a rabbit unstable bladder and Partial Bladder Outlet Obstruction (BOO) model, and to study on urodynamic changes. Methods: 30 male New Zealand rabbits were divided into control group and operative group. After 8 weeks, urodynamic changes were determined after they were anaesthetized by ketamine and droperidol. Results: Prominent changes of Main urodynamic parameters were found between the operative group and control group. The incidence rate of unstable bladder was 60%. Conclusion: The method of establishing rabbit model of Partial BOO is successful. It provides a platform for the study on the changes of pathology and pathophysiology of human chronic partial BOO and treatment of this kind of diseases.

Objective To evaluate the clinical outcomes of locking plate combined with allogenic fibular intramedullary support in the elderly patients with varus proximal humeral fracture. Methods From May 2015 to July 2017,21 elderly patients with varus proximal humeral fracture were treated with locking plate combined with allogenic fibular intramedullary support at Department of Orthopaedics,The Second Clinical Medical College,Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. They were 6 men and 15 women, from 65 to 90 years of age (average,74.8 years).According to the Neer classification,2-part fracture was identified in 2 patients,3-part fracture in 14 and 4-part fracture in 5.Their operation time, amount of intraoperative bleeding, postoperative complications and functional scores at the last follow-up were recorded. The humeral neck angles and humeral head heights were compared between preoperation, postoperation and the last follow-up.Results Their operation time averaged 89.5 minutes (from 70 to 110 minutes) and intraoperative bleeding 179.5 mL (from 160 to 400 mL).They obtained follow-up from 12 to 26 months (average,18.1months).All the wounds were healed by the first intention. No such complications occurred as neurovascular lesion, shoulder dislocation or humeral head necrosis. However, screw cut-out was observed in one case.According to the Neer's scoring system, shoulder function was evaluated at the last follow-up as excellent in 3cases,as good in 15 and as fair in 3,giving a good to excellent rate of 85.7%.The humeral neck angle after operation was 136.4° ± 5.8°,significantly larger than the preoperative one (106.0° ± 7.3°) (P <0.05) but insignificantly different from the value at the last follow-up (135.4° ±6.5°) (P > 0.05).The postoperative distance between the plate top and the humeral head top was 1.6± 0.2 mm,insignificantly different from that at the last follow-up (1.5 ± 0.2 mm) (P > 0.05).Conclusion Locking plate combined with allogenic fibular intramedullary support can effectively reconstruct the medial proximal column of the humerus, restore the humeral neck angle, facilitate intraoperative fracture reposition and reduce operation time, leading to good functional recovery of the shoulder and prevention of related complications.
