A cardiac stimulator for rapid atrial pacing animal model was designed in this paper. According to the needs of clinical research, output pulse parameters of the cardiac stimulator can be designed. The cardiac stimulator will be controlled through magnet. Efficiency of the cardiac stimulator was validated by animal experiments.

Objective To assess the clinical value of multi-slice helical CT perfusion on the post-operative follow-up of glioma.Methods CT perfusion image was applied to 32 patients with glioma after operation.Various perfusion parameters,include cerebral blood volume(CBV),permeability surface(PS),relative cerebral blood volume(rCBV)and relative permeability surface(rPS)were measured on recurrent area,nonrecurrent area and normal cerebral area respectively.SPSS 12.0 statistical software was used.Independent t test was used to compare the differences.Results In the recurrent group(16 cases),the value of CBV in creased in 12 cases and was normal in the other 4 cases.The value of PS increased in all the cases of recurrent group.The value of rCBV exceeded 2.6 in 10 cases,among which the biggest value of rCBV was 4.01.The mean value of rCBV was 2.67 and the mean value of rPS was 6.32;In the non-recurrent group(16 cases),the value of CBV was nearly normal in 7 cases,increased in 2 cases and decreased in the remaining 7 cases.The value of PS was nearly normal in 11 case,decreased in 3 cases and increased in the remaining 2 cases.The values of rCBV were all less than 2.6 and the biggest value of rCBV was 2.14.The mean value of rCBV was 0.99 and the mean value of rPS was 1.42.The statistic significance was obtained for all the parameters when compared the recurrent group with the non-recurrent group(P＜0.01)and with the normal cerebral area(P＜0.01).When compared the non-recurrent group with the normal cerebral area,none of the parameters had statistic significance(P＞0.05);The statistic significance was obtained for rCBV and rPS when compared the recurrent group with the non-recurrent group(P＜0.01).Conclusion CT perfusion image is valuable in determining glioma recurrence after operation.

Objective To evaluate the influence of diabetes on cancer stage,treatment,and overall survival rate among newly diagnosed cancer patients,and the correlation between diabetes mellitus and cancer.Methods Total 16 890 newly diagnosed cancer patients were analyzed retrospectively.Morbidity rate of diabetes mellitus,stage of cancer,cancer treatment,survival rate,and comorbidities were collected and compared.Results 9.57% of those 16 890 cancer patients were suffering from diabetes by the time of cancer diagnosis.The prevalence of diabetes was high among patients with pancreas cancer (18.76%),renal cancer (16.76%),colorectal cancer (12.34%),and uterine cancer (10.97%).Colorectal cancer was often diagnosed at an advanced tumor stage.Compared with those without diabetes,diabetic patients with colorectal cancer,gastric cancer,and endometrial carcinoma were more likely to receive surgical treatment.Unadjusted analyses showed that the median survival time and percent alive at 3 years in cancer patients with diabetes were significantly reduced in all types of cancers,except for prostate cancer,as compared with those cases without diabetes.After adjustment for occurrence of cardiovascular disease,diabetic patients with colorectal,breast,endometrial,ovary,prostate,kidney,and lung cancers still had a 8%-55% increased risk of mortality compared to cancer patients without diabetes mellitus (P＜0.05).Conclusion The prevalane of cancer in diabetes is higher than non-diabetics.Diabetic cancer patients are frequently treated less aggressively and have a worse prognosis compared to those without diabetes.

Background Gene encoding optineurin (OPTN) is a causative gene for glaucoma and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,with a more expression in retina.Our previous study isolated OPTN-interacting proteins and identified that the gene encode the basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factor neural retina leucine (NRL) zipper,a causative gene for retinitis pigmentosa,and further study demonstrated the interaction between OPTN and NRL proteins in nuclei of cultured HeLaS3 cells.Objective This study was to determine the protein binding site of OPTN necessary for NRL binding.Methods A deletion series of OPTN-expression plasmids were constructed and co-expressed with hemagglutinin (HA)-tagged NRL in HeLaS3 cells,respectively.The cytoplasmic and nuclear fractions were used to perform co-immunoprecipitate (CoIP) and Western blot with anti-tag antibodies.Results In the nuclear fractions of cells transfected with the del1 st,del2nd or del3rd plasmid,a band of coimmunoprecipitated HA-labelled NRL (HA-NRL) was detected.However,the del4th plasmid did not produce a band.The NRL band was not found in cytoplasmic fractions from transfected cells with any of the deletion plasmids or with the whole-length OPTN plasmid.Conclusions The protein binding site of OPTN necessary for NRL binding is determined.This result demonstrates the binding of Flag-OPTN and HA-NRL in HeLaS3 cells.A series of partial-deletion OPTN plasmids demonstrated that the tail region (423-577 amino acids) of OPTN was necessary for binding with NRL.

Chronic cough can occur in children of all ages, and the incidence rate and consultation rate increase each year.Clarifying the cause of chronic cough is the key to treatment.At present, there are no convenient, operable and unified standards for etiological analysis of chronic cough in the world.Therefore, the etiological analysis of chronic cough has always been a hot topic in clinical research.With the development of diagnosis and treatment technology, the role of pulmonary function and exhaled nitric oxide in the diagnosis of chronic cough has attracted attention.This article reviews the application value of pulmonary function combined with exhaled nitric oxide in etiology analysis of chronic cough in children, to provide reference for etiology analysis of chronic cough in children.

Objective To evaluate the feasibility and efficiency of transthoracic echocardiography(TTE) combined with real-time three dimensional echocardiography(RT-3DE)in guiding transcatheter closure of atrial septal defect(TCASD)without X-ray.Methods Eleven patients with atrial septal defects(ASD)underwent the procedure of TCASD guided by TTE combined with RT-3DE.The position of the catheter and transporting sheath,the location and deploying of ASD occluder(ASO)were monitored by muhisection echoscan.especially in RT-3DE.The results were compared with those guided by conventional method(TTE and X-ray).Results All the operations were held successfully.The complications of cardiac tamponade,shedding of occluder,residual shunt,atrioventricular valve regurgitation,embolism and arrhythmia were not observed.Compared with the conventional procedure of the control group,the operation time was significantly prolonged[(65.76±14.15)min versus(45.50±20.88)min,P＜0.000)].Conclusions TCASD was tested to be safe and efficient guided by TTE combined RT-3DE without X-ray,especially for children and pregnant women.It may be expected used widely in the future independently from X-ray.

Objective To investigate the effect of free toe transplantation in finger reconstruction.Methods Free toe transplantations were performed in 164 patients (185 fingers) suffering from finger defection.There were 134 males and 30 females,aged at 12-83 years [mean (44.8 ± 11.2)years].Finger deletion severity was classified as grade Ⅰ in one case,grade Ⅱ in 18,grade Ⅲ in 23,grade Ⅳ in 49,grade Ⅴ in 54,and grade Ⅵ in 19.According to Gilbert standards,dorsal metatarsal arteries were classified as type Ⅰ in 68 cases,type Ⅱ in 84,and type Ⅲ in 12.Survival ratio of the transplanted fingers and hand function rehabilitation were observed.Results The transplanted toe survived in 160 cases (173 fingers).They composed of all the cases of grade Ⅰ-Ⅴ finger deletion and 15 cases of grade Ⅵ finger deletion; all the cases of type Ⅰ dorsal metatarsal arteries,83 cases of type Ⅱ dorsal metatarsal arteries and nine case of type Ⅲ dorsal metatarsal arteries.Transplantation failed in four cases (12 fingers) of grade Ⅵ finger defection including one case of Gilbert Ⅱ dorsal metatarsal arteries and three cases of Gilbert Ⅱ dorsal metatarsal arteries.Postoperative results were excellent in 110 cases and good in 50.Conclusions Toe transplantation is helpful to restore the finger shape and function and the outcome is satisfactory.Anatomic deformation of dorsal metatarsal arteries is the main cause for the failure of finger reconstruction.
