Objective:To evaluate the biocompatibility Abstract of a liquid of propolis. Methods:According to the relative Chinese national standards, the cytotoxicity of the propolis abstract was investigated by in vitro cell culture, agar diffusion test and the oral mucous membrane irritation response test in rabbits. Results:In the in vitro tests the propolis abstract showed grade 0 cytotoxicity. In the in vivo test the abstract did not result in any pathological change in oral mucous membrane. Conclusion:The propolis abstract is biocompatible.

Objective To study the effect of allicin on the growth and radiosensitivity of human pancreatic carcinoma BXPC3 cells. Methods BXPC3 cells were exposed to X-rays in the presence or absence of allicin.Cell proliferation was measured by MTT assay.Cell cycle distribution and apoptosis were detected by flow cytometry assay.Cell radiosensitivity and the influence of allicin on it was evaluated by colony formation assay. The expressions of Bax and Bcl-2 proteins were assayed by RT-PCR and Western blot. Results IC50 values of allicin on cell growth were 76.24,58.34 and 43.58 μmol/L under 12,24 and 48 h treatment, respectively.Treatment of cells with allicin obviously inhibited cell growth after irradiation and hence increased radiosensitivity (t =2.74,P < 0.05).This treament also enhanced radiation-induced cell cycle arrest at G2/M phase (t =11.41,P <0.05),apoptosis induction (t =12.36,P < 0.05),and Bax expression (t =4.83,P < 0.05),but it decreased Bcl-2 expression (t =3.69,P < 0.05).Conclusions Allicin could inhibit cell growth, induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis via Bax/Bcl-2 pathway and hence increases radiosensitivity of BXPC3 cells.

Objective:To explore the resource of rice bran by comparing antioxidative activities and growth promotion of Bacillus bifidus between supernatant of formented rice bran(RBF) by Bacillus natto and water extract of rice bran(RBW) . Method:The reducing capacity the?OH and ??O 2 scavenging capacity and the inhibitory effect to oxidize lard were determined in vitro. The growth promotion for Bacillus bifidus by photodensity with simulated condition was investigated in vivo. Results:RBF and RBW had antioxidant activity in vitro. The IC50 of scavenging?OH and ??O 250 of RBF was 3.55 mg/ml and 23.5 mg/ml,0.3 and 10 folds higher than that of RBW respectively. In inhibiting oxidation of lard,RBF had a little higher antioxidative activities than RBW,near VE. RBF and RBW could promot growth of Bacillus bifidus by 65.2% and 17.8% respectively. By enzymatic digestion, the promotive rate of RBF was still 51.6%. Conclusion:RBF had higher antioxidant activity and growth promotion to Bacillus bifidus.

Objective To investigate the mechanism and prevention of gallstones after esophageal cancer surgery. Methods Clinical data from 297 cases of esophageal cancer patients underwent surgical treatment from 2007 to 2010 inour hospital were retrospectively analyzed for the incidence of post-operative gallstones.ResultsNo cholecystitis and gallstones were detected by B-ultrosound before the operation in the 39 patients.13.1% of the patients developed gallstones from 1 month to 3 years after the operation. The incidence was significantly higher than that in general population. Conclusion There is a high chance of gallstones in patients after radical resection of esophageal cancer.Cutting vagus nerve plays an important role in the incidence of gallstones.Preservation of vagus nerve during the surgery should be performed as possible.

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of MSCT longitudinal reconstruction in the ureteral obstruction. Methods 34 patients with ureteral obstruction were scaned transversely and longitudinally by GE Lightspeed 16 CT scanner and the images were reconstructed with three-dimensional software. All cases were proved by operation and pathology except for 2 cases of uretal obstruction compressed by retroperitoneal lymph nodes. Results In 34 cases, there were 22 cases of ureteral calculi,2 cases of ureteritis,3 cases of carcinoma of ureter,3 cases of pelvisureteral conjunction stricture,1 case of ureteral cyst,1 case of retrocaval ureter and 2 cases of ureter compressed by retroperitoneal metastatic lymph nodes. On longitudinal reconstruction images,22 lesions of calculi in the ureter and thickened uretal wall were showed.Contrast-enhanced CT scan was preformed in 5 cases, the CT values of lesions were increased about 20~35 HU,after administration of contrast medium, and light hydronephrosis in 18 cases, medium hydronephrosis in 6,serious hydronephrosis in 2 and no hydronephrosis in one case were showed on delayed contrast-enhanced scan. Conclusion Longitudinal reconstruction image is of significant value in diagnosis of ureteral obstruction.

Objective To evaluated the clinical outcomes of intravesical instillation resiniferatoxin(RTX) for the treatment of patients with idiopathic overactive bladder(IOAB).Methods 26 cases with IOAB were randomly divided into test(A,14 cases) and control(B,12 cases) groups. The patients in group A were treated by intravesical instillation with 40ml of 0.5% idocain retained within the bladder for 3 minutes at first and with 100ml of 100nmol/L RTX retained within the bladder for 30 minutes late. The patients in group B were treated by the same method, however, the furacilin solution(placebo) at a dilution 1∶5000 was used instead of 100nmol/L RTX.The efficacy(daily voiding frequency, urgent uresis,FDV,MCBC,Qmax) of the 2 groups were evaluated before,1 month and 3 months after treatment. Results The pre-treatment comparion with prost-treatmen at 1 month and 3 months of A group was significant(P0.05).14 patients(54%) had slightly stimulating symptom in the urethra or bladder, and were otherwise generally well tolerated. Conclusion Single administration of RTX is safe and effective in patients with IOAB.

Objective To analyze the distribution characteristics and risk factors of extended stay over 30 days at tertiary comprehensive hospitals, and explore methods of shortening average length of stay(LOS).Methods Homepage of all inpatients discharged from October 2014 to October 2015 of 31 tertiary comprehensive hospitals in Shanxi province were collected.39 234 cases of these inpatients stayed over 30 days and their case information was complete.A generalized linear model was used for risk factors analysis. Results With the extension of LOS, most of the inpatients with extended stay were found during their 30th-40th days, accounting for 50.21% of all and constituting the highest daily costs as well. The ratio of inpatients decreases with their LOS, and its distribution presents a positive skew in entirety.Distribution of inpatients over 30 days identified urban employees under medical insurance accounting for the highest ratio among all payment categories, and those from the department of orthopedics for the highest ratio among all departments, while those of diseases from injury and poisoning accounting for the highest ratio among all disease categories. The findings indicated ten important factors for extended stay, namely gender, medical payment category, ICD, inter-department transfer, nosocomial infection, and clinical pathway. Conclusions To strengthen management of specific departments and inpatients, focus on key process of medical quality, and accelerate medical insurance payment reform can effectively control extended stay.
