Objective To compare the effects of Niaoduqing Tablet and Niaoduqing Granule in tre atingchronic renal failure(CRF)induced by adenine in rats,which is expected to provide some lab oratory data for the clinical applic ation and innovation of the dosage forms.Methods CRF rat models induced by adenine were administered with Niaoduqing Tabl et or Niaoduqing Granule and then the seru m levels of BUN and Scr,haematologic al and biochemical indexes and renal histolog-ical features were observed.Results Both of two forms reduced serum levels of BUN and Scr,ameliorate the electrolyte,increase the number of red blood cell,hemoglobin content and haematocrit and alleviate pathological changes of the kidney tissue.Conclusion Both Niaoduqing Tablet and Niaoduqi ng Granule is effective in treating CRF in rats and the effect of Niaoduqing Tablet in ameliorating a nemia is superior to that of Niaoduqi ng Granule.

Objective To investigate the effects of aloperine (ALO) on a model of dextran sulphate sodium (DSS)-induced chronic colitis in C57BL/6 mice.Methods Repeated colitis was induced by administration of four cycles of 4％ DSS.The severity of colitis was assessed on the basis of clinical signs,ratio of colon weight and colon length,and histological grading scores.Moreover,secretory immunoglobulin A (S-IgA) and plasma haptoglobin (HP) were analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,and the changes of mRNA expression of ICAM-1and MIF gene in colorectal tissue were detected by quantitative reverse transcriptase real-time polymerase chain reaction using SYBR Green Ⅰ.Results ALO administration significantly attenuated the colon damage,caused substantial reductions of the rise in HP,and maintained the level of cecum S-IgA.ALO inhibited the ICAM-1mRNA expression and had no effect on MIF mRNA expression.Conclusion The effect of ALO on DSS-induced chronic colitis in mice is investigated for the first time,which suggests that ALO could be an attractive therapeutic candidate in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.

BACKGROUND:As a new self-synthetized medical orthopedic fixation material, micron traditional Chinese medicine functional lining material can promote the secretion of alkaline phosphatase and cal us formation, decrease serum calcium level, as wel as increase serum phosphorus level and calcium-phosphorus product. OBJECTIVE:To further verify the therapeutic effect of micron traditional Chinese medicine functional lining material on fracture healing. METHODS:Twenty-four New Zealand rabbits were selected to prepare models of right radial fracture, and then were randomly al ocated into four groups:rabbits in micron group were treated with micron traditional Chinese medicine functional lining material (micron Panax notoginseng powder mixed with active ingredients of Daval ia divaricata and Carthamus tinctoriousplus) plus plaster external fixation;those in traditional Chinese medicine control group treated with ordinary Chinese medicine functional material plus plaster external fixation;those in lining material control group treated with ordinary lining material (sterile degreasing cotton) plus plaster external fixation;those in model control group received no treatment. The whole blood viscosity at high/middle/low shear rates and plasma viscosity were detected at 2, 4 and 6 weeks before and after modeling. Additional y, rabbits in each group were kil ed at 6 weeks after modeling, and radial samples were removed for histological observation. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The whole blood viscosity at high/middle/low shear rates and plasma viscosity in the micron group were al lower than those in the other three groups in the same period, and had significant differences from those in the model control group at 4 and 6 weeks after modeling (P<0.05 or 0.01). A large number of osteoblasts could be found, woven bone began to form and the bone marrow cavity was recanalized in the micron group;in the traditional Chinese medicine group, woven bone, chondrocytes and endochondral ossification coexisted and there was a connection between cal uses inside and outside of the broken end, but the bone marrow cavity was not recanalized. In contrast, neither connection between cal uses inside and outside of the broken end, nor recanalized bone marrow cavity appeared in the lining material and model control groups. In conclusion, micron traditional Chinese medicine functional lining material can promote fracture healing by improving microcirculation and accelerating osteoblast proliferation.

Objective To compare the intelligence quotient (IQ) between children with Asperger syndrome (AS) and children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in order to provide reliable evidence for differential diagnosis.Methods The intelligence of 141 children with AS,154 children with ADHD and 102 normal control (NC) children aged 6-13 years old examined by the China-Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children was analyzed,and the diagnoses of AS and ADHD was made according to the Fourth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder.Results The proportions of children at low level of IQ (borderline and mental retardation range) in children with AS and with ADHD group were both significantly higher than those of NC group.The proportions of children at top level of IQ (superior and very superior range) in ADHD group were significantly lower than those of AS and NC groups.In the AS group,higher proportions of verbal IQ (VIQ) at top level and performance IQ (PIQ) at low level were found.The average VIQ,PIQ and full IQ (FIQ) of the AS,ADHD and NC groups were (102.55 ± 17.27,91.31 ± 16.01,97.10 ± 15.88),(95.39 ±13.49,94.16 ± 12.92,94.40 ± 12.78) and (104.06 ± 13.66,103.05 ±11.80,103.91 ± 12.92),respectively.The VIQ,PIQ and FIQ in ADHD group were lower than those in NC group significantly(P ＜ 0.01);compared with NC group,the PIQ and FIQ in AS group were significantly lower (P ＜ 0.01),while the VIQ was not significantly different(P ＞0.05).The AS and ADHD group scored both lower than the NC groupin the subtests ofcomprehension, coding, picture completion andpicture arrangement (P ＜ 0.01).The difference values between VIQ and PIQ in the AS,ADHD and TD group were(11.23 ± 17.29),(1.23 ± 13.10) and (1.00 ± 10.91),respectively,among which only the value in AS group was statistically significant (P ＜ 0.01) but not in ADHD and NC group(P ＞0.05).The proportion of children having a VIQ-PIQ difference value more than 15 in AS group was 54.60％ (77/141 cases),which was significantly higher than that in ADHD [22.07％ (34/154 cases)] and NC groups [13.72％ (14/102 cases)] (P ＜ 0.01),while the latter 2 value had no statistical difference (P ＞ 0.05).The differences among scores on the three Kaufman factors were significant in AS group (P ＜ 0.01) but not in ADHD and NC groups(P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions Compared with ADHD and normal control children,there are some unique intelligence profiles in children with AS,which show VIQ and PIQ separation,imbalance intelligence structure as well as strengths and weaknesses coexisting.Furthermore,children with ADHD and AS children share common features in some subtests scores.

Objective To explore the curative mechanism of Jieyuan (JY) Capsule on rats renal failure induced by 5/ 6 nephrectomy. Methods Chronic renal failure (CRF) rat models induced by 5/6 nephrectomy were administered with JY Capsule. The serum levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (Scr),hematological and biochemical indexes,and renal histological features were observed. Results JY Capsule reduced levels of BUN and Scr,ameliorated the electrolyte,increased the number of red blood cell and hemoglobin content,and alleviated pathological changes of the kidney tissue. Conclusion JY Capsule can relieve the rat CRF symptoms and postpone the progress of CRF.

Objective To investigate the effects of Yifuning soft gelatin capsules(YSGC)on immune function in ovariectomized (OVX) rats.Methods Fifty female mature Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into 5 groups:normal control, model control, diethylstilbestrol tablets(DT)and YSGC(high-and low-dose). After 4-week treatment,the serum E2 and IL-2 levels were detected by radioimmunoassay. The estrogen receptor(ER)level in spleen were detected with method of radioligand receptor assay(RRA).The pathologic changes of thymus were observed under light microscope and the body weight,thymus index and spleen index were detected too.Results YSGC could obviously increase the serum levels of E2 and IL-2,increase spleen index and ER content in the spleen of OVX rats (P

0.05),re-spectively,and the cost-effectiveness ratios were9.12,12.29and8.50,respectively.CONCLUSION:Group C is superior in terms of the cost-effectiveness ratio among the3regimes for depression.

Aim To investigate the growth-inhibition and the mechanism of apoptosis induced by sophoridine(SRI) on SW620 cells.Method MTT assay was used to detect the half-inhibition concentration(IC50),and fluorescence microscopy,electron microscopy,DNA fragmentation analysis,flow cytometry(FCM) were used to demonstrate the presence of apoptosis.Results SRI inhibited the growth of SW620 cells significantly in a dose-and time-dependent manner,and morphological characteristics of apoptosis were observed with condensation of nucleus,bubble of cytoplasm,fragment of nucleus.A DNA ladder pattern of internucleosomalfragmentation was observed.Compared with that of control group,the percentage of the G0/G1 phase and the Sphase cells increased after treated by SRI.SW620 cells were induced to undergo apoptosis and underwent G0/G1 arrest with exposure to SRI shown by FCM.Conclusions Sophoridine could induce the inhibition of cell growth by means of apoptosis in a dose-and time-dependent manner,and the blocking of G0/G1 phase of cells was involved in the mechanism of apoptosis.
