Effect of organic acids on the synthesis of 1,3 propanediol was studied. The adsorption of organic acids from glycerol fermentation liquor by ion-exchange resins was investigated. The results showed that organic acid and 1,3 propanediol production was in negative relationship. The static adsorption showed that ion-exchange resin 005 had the best adsorption abilities of the organic acids in the glycerol fermentation liquor. It was showed that the yield of 1,3propanediol increased by 166% after the extraction of organic acids from glycerol fermentation liquor and the convertion rate increased by 34%.

OBJECTIVETo compare the clinical efficacy differences between acupoint catgut embedding and Kuntai capsule for perimenopausal syndrome, so as to provide an effective treatment method for perimenopausal syndrome.
METHODSThirty-three cases in the embedding group were treated with acupoint catgut embedding at back-shu points and front-mu points of liver, spleen and kidney combined with syndrome differentiation and disease differentiation, ten days per times; the Kuntai group was treated with oral administration of Kuntai capsule, 4 capsules each time, three times per day. The Kupperman index (KI) was observed in the two groups before treatment after 10 days, 30 days and 60 days of treatment, respectively; the efficacy was evaluated according to the ratio of KI.
RESULTSAfter the treatment, as treatment proceeded, the score of KI and ratio of KI were gradually reduced in two groups; the score of KI and ratio of KI in the embedding group after 10 days of treatment was lower than those in the Kuntai group (both P<0.05); after 10 days of treatment, the total effective rate was 36.4% (12/33) in the embedding group, which was superior to 3.0% (1/33) in the Kuntai group (P<0.05); however, after 30 days and 60 days of treatment, the differences of each index between two groups were not statistically significant (all P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONBoth the acupoint catgut embedding and Kuntai capsule could reduce the score of KI and improve clinical symptoms, and the acupoint catgut embedding has certain advantage on the early stage of treatment.

Objective To compare the dose distributions of the volumetric modulated arc therapy ( VMAT) for early stage non?small cell lung cancer ( NSCLC) using conventional flattening filter ( FF) and the flattening filter free ( FFF) beams and to verify the dose calculation accuracy of the FFF beam through a three?dimensional verification system. Methods The treatment plans of 20 patients ( 2015 years hospitalized) treated with SBRT for early stage NSCLC using a TrueBeam accelerator were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were scanned with 4DCT and the average density projection images were used for organ segmentation and treatment planning using an Eclipse plan system. Two volumetric modulated arc therapy ( VMAT) plans with FF and FFF were designed with the same planning parameters for each patient. The dose distributions between the two plans were compared and their dose verifications were assessed with the ArcCheck device. Results With the same dose coverage for the target, there was no significant difference in the dose compatibility index 100%(CI100%) between FF and FFF beams (P=0. 82).CI80% and CI50% of FFF plan were lower than that of FF plan (P=0. 02,0. 01).The dose significantly decreased in the FFF plan comparing with the FF plan for the ipsilateral lung and the total lung (P<0. 01 for both). There was no significant difference between monitor units of the FF and FFF plans ( P=0. 34) ,while the delivery time of FFF was significant shorter than that of FF (P<0. 01).The DVH passing,γ pass rates and the absolute dose deviations of the FF and FFF plans at the central point were not significantly different ( P=0. 05,0. 16, 0. 26) . Conclusions FFF beams for NSCLC patients with VMAT planning can significantly improve the dose distribution compatibility and reduce radiation doses to lung. The beam delivery with FFF beams was also faster. Furthermore, the three?dimensional dose verification confirmed that the dose calculation in Eclipse plan system using FFF beams for VMAT plans were accurate and met the clinical need.

Background RGD is a small molecular multiple peptide containing Arg-Gly-Asp with an important role in inhibiting the adhesion, migration and neovascularization of tumor. Our previous study determined that RGD can suppress the adhesion and proliferation of lens epithelial cells(LECs),and RGDRGD may be of a stronger effect. Objective Present study was to investigate and compare the effect of RGDRGD peptide on the proliferation and adhesion of immortalized human LECs(HLEB-3)in vitro. Methods Human LECs harvested by trpsin-EDTA were suspended in DMEM medium with serial dilutions of RGD peptide and RGDRGD peptide(from 1000 mg/L to 250 mg/L)at 37℃ for 15 minutes as experimental group, and the HLECs cultured by common culture medium were used as the control group. The cells were then seeded into the 96-well plates with precoated fibmnectin (FN)and I collagen at the density of 2×104/ml.MTT stainingcolorimetry was used to measure the adhesion rates of lens epithelial cells cultured in different concentrations RGDRGD and RGD peptides after 1 hour.Cells were seeded into the 96-well plates for 24 hours at 37℃ in 5% CO2.Medium was then replaced with DMEM overnight.Subsequently, the cells were treated with serial dilutions of RGD and RGDRGD(from 2000 mg/L to 250 ms/L)dissolved in DMEM medium plus 20% fetal bovine serum. The inhibition of RGDRGD and RGD on the adhesion and proliferation of Human LECs was analyzed by MTT aher 24,48 and 72 hours. Results The inhibition rate of RGD peptide on the adhesion of LECs was gradually enhanced with the increase of concentration with the significant difference among the different concentrations groups(F=1089.56,P<0.01),and the statistically significant elevation in inhibitory rate was found in RGDRGD peptide compared with RGD peptide(P<0.01).The inhibition rate of RGDRGD peptide on the proliferation of LECs wag gradually increased with the increase of concentration with the significant difference among the different concentrations groups with a strongest effect in 1000 ms/L group(F=127.31,P<0.01),and the much stronger inhibition Wag Been in RGDRGD peptide(F=1589.85,P<0.01).The suppression rate of RGDRGD on LECs proliferation Wag much stronger with the prolong of time(F=1606.43,P<0.01). Conclusion RGDRGD peptide and RGD peptide have inhibitory effect on adhesion and proliferation of human LECs in a dose-and time-dependent manner.Effect of RGDRGD peptide is much stronger than RGD peptide. These results imply that RGDRGD peptide and RGD peptide have the important role for prevention of PCO.

Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture in promoting the lung recovery in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and to discuss its advantage and safety in lung recovery. Method Forty-four patients were randomized into two groups, 22 cases in the treatment group and 19 in the control group finally (with 3 dropouts). In addition to the required aerobic exercises, the treatment group received active acupuncture treatment and the control group received placebo acupuncture treatment, with acupoints from the Spleen and Stomach Meridians and Conception Vessel as the major points, 2-3 sessions a week, for 14 sessions in total. The body mass index (BMI), athletic ability, COPD Assessment Test (CAT), pulmonary function and inflammation indexes [interleukin (IL)-6 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α] were observed before and after the treatment. Result After the treatment, the improvements in the six-minute walking distance, CAT and pulmonary function scores were statistically more significant in the treatment group than those in the control group (P<0.05,P<0.01); the serum content of TNF-α was increased more significantly in the control group than in the treatment group (P<0.05); there was no significant change in BMI in the treatment group, while a significant decrease of BMI was found in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture plus exercises can boost the lung recovery in remission-stage COPD and reduce the adverse reactions brought by sports fatigue.
