1.Prostate stem cells: an update.
National Journal of Andrology 2014;20(5):460-463
Stem cells are characterized by self-renewing, multipotent differentiation, and high proliferation and receiving more and more attention for their roles in the development and management of various diseases. There are epithelial stem cells and mesenchymal stem cells in the prostate. The markers of the epithelial stem cells include cytokeratin, stem cell antigen-1, and integrins alpha2beta1, CD49f, CD133, CD117, and CD44. The markers of the mesenchymal stem cells include CD30, CD44, CD133, neuron-specific enolase, and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-1. Prostate stem cells are involved in the development and treatment of prostatic diseases. This review focuses on the latest progress in the studies of prostate stem cells.

Journal of Interventional Radiology 2001;0(05):-
Objective To advocate the importance of central venous access(CVA), and compare the technical characteristics and clinical values of central venous access constructed trans right subclavian vein (TSCV) and trans the right internal jugular vein (TIJV). Methods Between March 1999 and June 2001, we operated 348 cases of CVA, including 270 TSCV and 78 TIJV. The durations of reserving the accesses were 13~75 day, average 23 days. Results In 270 TSCV, 268 cases were successful, the successful rate was 99%. 11 cases had critical complications, including: 2 cases of pneumothorax, 1 access was constructed into subclavian artery, 3 accesses obstruction, 3 accesses of anomalous transfusion caused by catheter shift, infection of puncture site 2 cases. In 78 TIJV, 75 cases were successful, the successful rate were 96%. The critical complications occurred in 1 case. Conclusions The CVA is safe, easy, and practical, which would provide the special and immediate medical therapy for the tumorous and critical patients. In emergency, the TSCV procedure would be the choice.

Microbiology 2008;0(09):-
Quorum sensing systems of pathogens are central regulators for the expression of virulence factors. Increasing evidence implies that targeting the quorum sensing system of many pathogenic bacteria is a promising therapeutic approach to control infections. In this work,we isolated 47 strains of actinomycetes from the mud sample of Jiaozhou Bay. Quorum sensing inhibitory activity was monitored by Chromobacterium violaceum CV026. As a result, the culture broth extract of actinomycetes WA-7 was found to have significant quorum sensing inhibitory activity. This strain was assigned to the genus Streptomyces based on its 16S rDNA sequence. Further investigation revealed that the extract could inhibit the quorum sensing-controlled violacein and proteases production of C. violaceum in a concentration-dependent manner.

Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 2011;31(10):1175-1177
Objective To investigate the efficacy of ultrasound-guided fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) on postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty. Methods Thirty-six ASA Ⅰ-Ⅲ patients aged 54-82 yr weighing 48-72 kg undergoing total hip arthroplasty were randomly divided into 2 groups (n =18 each): normal saline group(group NS)and ropivacaine group (group R).Ultrasound-guided FICB was performed within 30 min after operation.Group R received 0.25 % ropivacaine 30 ml,while the equal volume of normal saline was used instead of ropivacaine in group NS.All patients received PCIA with 0.01 mg/ml fentanyl after FICB.PCIA included a bolus dose of 2 ml with a 15 min lockout interval and no background infusion.Pain at rest was evaluated using VAS (RVAS) score before FICB (T0 )and at 3 h(T1 ),6 h(T2 ),8 h(T3 ),12 h(T4 ),24 h(T5 ),48 h(T6 )and 72 h(T7 )after FICB.The passive exercise VAS (PVAS) score at T4-6,T7 and active exercise VAS (AVAS) score at T5-7 were recorded. The consumption of fentanyl at 0-12 h,12-24 h、24-48 h and 48-72 h after FICB and the adverse effects were also recorded. Results Compared with group NS,RVAS score,PVAS score,AVAS score and the consumption of fentanyl were significantly decreased in group R.There was no significant difference in the adverse effects between the two groups. Conclusion Ultrasound-guided FICB can provide better postoperative analgesia with little adverse effects in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty.

Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control 2017;29(2):246-251
Oncomelania hupensis is the only intermediate host of Schistosoma japonicum. The elimination of Oncomelania snails is the key technique step for schistosomiasis control. This paper summarizes the progress of the techniques of snail control, including the methods of ecology engineering, biology, molluscicides and the study on novel molluscicides, and reviews their features. In addition, this paper explores the appropriate approach to control the snails.
