AIM: To investigate the effect of testosterone with varied concentrations on the fibr inolysis activity of HUVEC and its mechanism. METHODS: Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) were cul tured as recommended. After confluence, the cultures were treated with testoster one(3 ?10 -10, 3?10 -9, 3?10 -8,3?10 -6, 3?10 -5 m ol/L) , and the control confluent cells were cultured in the same medium witho ut steroid. MTT experiment was repeated for 72 hours to investigate each groups' cell proliferation. The tPA and PAI-1 antigen levels were assayed with ELISA K its. Then with HUVEC incubated in androgen receptor antagonist (flutamide) 3 hou rs previously, the experiment was repeated. ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical effectiveness of oral sensorimotor therapy on oral motor dysfunction after cerebal palsy (CP).MethodsThirty-two CP children were confirmed the type of cerebral palsy by neurological examination and developmental age by Gesell's developmental scale. Oral sensorimotor therapy was performed one time a day by speech-language therapist.Before and after a treatment period of 3 months,the oral motor and language-speech ability of each case was assessed using Oral Motor Scale and Sign-Significate relations.ResultsAfter treatment, the oral motor function had been improved significantly(t=11.946,P<0.01) and the oral motor score was meanly increased by 14.94 score.The levels of oral language comprehension and expression had also been improved significantly(t=5.376,P<0.01;t=7.552,P<0.01).Articulation of 28 cases(87.5%) was improved. ConclusionOral sensorimotor therapy is effective on improving oral motor function, articulation,as well as on increasing language comprehension and expression.

ObjectiveTo compare the surgical outcomes of total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH) and total vaginal hysterectomy (TVH).MethodsThe clinical data of 509 TAH cases and 799 TVH cases including operating time, bleeding volume, days being in hospital and outcome of 3 months following-up were analyzed retrospectively.ResultsThe average operating time and bleeding volume of TVH were 47.6 minutes and 199 ml respectively, less than that of TAH (128 minutes and 241 ml). The days being in hospital of TVH were also less that of TAH, and 12-Short Form Health Survey (SF-12) scores of TVH were higher than that of TAH.ConclusionTVH has minor lesion and is helpful for improving the quality of patients' life.

AIM: To investigate the role of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) in the growth of Müller cells using a co-culture system in vitro . METHODS: Müller cells were cocultured with RPE cells under both normoxic and hypoxic conditions in Transwell chamber culture system. Müller cell proliferation was evaluated by MTT assay. The number of cells which migrate through micropores and stay on the outer bottom side of insert systems were observed and counted. RESULTS: The activities of proliferation and migration of Müller cells when cocultured with RPE cells were significantly higher than those of the Müller cells when cultured alone at all time points under both normoxic and hypoxic conditions. However, for both the coculture and control groups, there is no significant difference between the measurements at 3 and 6 hours. CONCLUSION: Evidence suggests that RPE, when co-cultured with Müller cells, can stimulate migration and proliferation of Müller cells under both hypoxic and normoxic conditions in a time-dependent manner; how-ever, there is no evidence to support the synergetic interaction of RPE and Müller cells co-cultured under hypoxic conditions.

Background More and more evidences suggest that the interaction of retinal progression of retinal diseases.Objective Present study was to investigate the primarily cultured and digested using explant culture method and trypsas acidic protein(GFAP) staining,S-100 staining and cytokine-18 staining co-cultured under the normoxia and hypoxia using transwell chamber,and the proliferation and migration of cultured RPE cells were examined using MTT and compared with only RPE cells cultured group at 3, 6, 24 and 48 hours.Results Over 90% of primarily cultured RPE cells showed the positive response for S-100.The proliferation and migration of RPE cells were significantly increased in hypoxia condition compared with normoxia condition (P＜0.01).In hypoxia group,amount of proliferation and migration of RPE cells in co-culture group were higher than the only RPE cells cultured group(P＜0.01).Conclusion Hypoxia appear to aggravate the proliferation and migration of RPE cells under the hypoxia status.

The benefit achieved by concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCR) and sequential chemoradiotherapy (SCR) vs radiotherapy (RT) alone for patients with stage II-IVa nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) was compared. A total of 113 patients with stage II-IV a NPC were allotted into CCR group (n=38), SCR group (n=36) and RT alone group (n=39). All patients were irradiated with the same RT technique to ≥66 Gy at 2 Gy per fraction, conventional 5 fractions/week in all groups. The CCR group received concurrent chemotherapy of weekly cisplatin for 7 weeks, and the SCR group received neoadjuvant and (or) adjuvant chemotherapy. The results showed that the 3- and 5-year overall survival rate was significantly higher in CCR group than in RT alone group (92.16% vs 61.54%, 81.58% vs 51.28%, P<0.005). The median survival time was significantly longer in CCR group than in RT alone group (67.8 months vs 52.7 months, P<0.005). It was concluded that CCR could significantly improve overall survival rate, progression-free survival rate, and median survival time when compared with RT alone.

Aim To study relative bioavailablity of cefaclor effervescent tablets in healthy volunteers. Methods According to the crossover design, A volunteers were each orally given a single does of the 0.75 g cefaclor effervescent tablets and cefaclor capsules with an interval of 5 days between the two formulations.The plasma concentrations of the drug were determined by RP-HPLC.Pharmacokinetic parameters were obtained by ATPK programe,and calculated on the basis of open single compartment model.Results After a single oral dose, the peak levels in plasma averaged Cmax(31.27?5.81)?g?ml-1 and(30.56?5.25) ?g?ml-1 at (0.58?0.12)h and(0.73?0.17)h and AUC0～4(35.48?4.65) ?g?h?ml-1 and (35.89?2.90) ?g?h?ml-1 for tablet and capsule,respectively. Conclusion The result shows that two formulations are bioequivalence.
