The history of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) was reviewed through summarizing the background and process of the establishment of WFAS. The establishment background was explained in different aspects, named the recovery of acupuncture-Moxibustion in the world, the successive setup of world acupuncture-Moxibustion organizations, the divergences of International Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion, striding forward of China reform and opening policy as well as the attention of the World Health Organization (WHO), etc. The establishment of WFAS was introduced on the proposal from eight countries, the important time of the development of acupuncture and moxibustion in China, 1984, divergences and consensus as well as the final phase. The official establishment of WFAS represents the global benefits of acupuncture-Moxibustion colleagues. It is the international organization of acupuncture and moxibustion, contributing to the promotion of acupuncture and moxibustion in the world.

Objective To evaluate the chang es of hemodynamics and the relationship with the outcome in patients with severe h epatitis treated with molecular adsorbents recirculating system (MARS). Methods A total of 16 patients with severe hepatitis were t reated with MARS for 36 times altogether as the treatment group. Twenty patients with severe hepatitis were treated by comprehensive methods as the control grou p. The age, sex and liver function between the two groups matched. Their prognos is was observed and the levels of serum total bilirubin, the non-conjugated bil irubin and mean arterial pressure (MAP), and heart rate were observed in the pat ients during a single 6 h to 8 h treatment with MARS. The relationship between the change and prognosis was observed. Results There were significant differences in prognosis and complications between the two groups. Objective To study the expression of vimentin in the tongue mucosa carcinogenesis and to explore its significance in the invasion and metastasis of tongue squamous cell carcinoma .Methods The occurrence of tongue squamous cell carcinoma in rat was induced by means of 4NQO water solution ,and 56 cases in total were collected in the cancerous process ,including normal tongue mucosa ,epithelial hyperplasia ,mild dysplasia ,moderate dysplasia ,severe dysplasia and the tongue tissue specimen of squa‐mous cell carcinoma .The immunohistochemistry was used to evaluate protein expression and real‐time fluorescent quantitative PCR method was used to obtain the expression quantity of mRNA .Results In immunohistochemistry ,with the increase of degree of rat tongue mucosa dysplasia ,the positive rate of vimentin expression increases obviously .The difference between groups was statistical‐ly significant (χ2 =10 .685 ,P<0 .05) .Lesion groups compared with normal group ,their mRNA expression differences all hold sta‐tistical significance(P<0 .05);Mild dysplasia ,moderate dysplasia ,severe dysplasia and squamous cell carcinoma groups were com‐pared with epithelial hyperplasia group .The difference between squamous cell carcinoma group and epithelial hyperplasia group was statistically significant (P<0 .05) .mRNA expression of epithelial hyperplasia ,mild dysplasia ,moderate dysplasia and severe dys‐plasia were respectively 1 .22 times ,1 .28 times ,1 .29 times and 1 .42 times of that of the normal group .Conclusion During rat tongue carcinogenesis induced by 4NQO ,the expression of vimentin was increased with the increase of the degree of pathological change ,which is closely related to the invasion of tumor and could be regarded as a predictor of tongue squamous cell carcinoma .

From cooperation between World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) and World Health Organization, works of academics and standardization, acupuncture-moxibustion education, technique service, organization development, etc., the 27-year development of WFAS since 1987 was summarized and reviewed in details. The growth of WFAS witnesses and promotes the development of acupuncture and moxibustion in the world, so by learning the experience and lessons, WFAS could have a wider path, becoming a core organization for communicating and promoting the development of acupuncture, even the traditional medicine in the world.

Objective To investigate the antibacterial activity of combined antimicrobial agents for imipenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii in vitro,so as to provide evidence for guiding clinical practice.Methods Twenty-seven isolates of irnipenem resistant Acinetobacter baumannii were collected from March,2007 to February.2008.The minimal inhibitory concentrations(MIC)of the isolates against eleven frequently used antibiotics were determined by E test and agar dilution.Combined drug sensitivity testing was performed by broth checkerboard titration assay.Synergism between minocycline and cefoperazone-sulbaetam was analyzed by time-killing curve.Results The results from checkerboard titration assay and time-kill studies showed that the synergy rates between minocycline and cefperazone-sulbactam,minocycline and amikacin,minocycline and ciprofloxacin were 74.1%,28.0%and 48.1%,respectively.The synergy rates between amikacin and cefoperazone-sulbactam,anaikacin and ciprofloxaein were 23.1%and 37.0%,respectively.The synergy rate between cefoperazone-sulbactam and ciprofloxacin was 7.1%.With combination therapy.both MICs of cefoperazone-sulbactam and MIC of minocyeline decreased to lower than breakpoints.According to time-killing curve,the synergy rate between cefoperazone-sulbactam and minocycline was 100%.Conclusion Minocycline and cefoperazone-sulbaetam can be used for treating infections caused by multidrug resistant Acinetobacter baumannii.

Objective To explore the importance of diabetic education and hypoglycemia nursing for population with high risk of hypoglycemia through analysis of the personal factors influencing incidence of hypoglycemia of type 2 diabetic patients during initial use of insulin.Methods There were 257 cases of T2DM hospitalized patients during initial use of insulin,among whom 80 experienced hypoglycemia.They were divided into two groups,one was the hypoglycemia group,another was the non-hypoglycemia group.Firstly,we compared the different characteristics of the two groups such as gender,BMI and HbAlc,and so on.And then,the possible risk factors of hypoglycemia were analyzed by a Logistic regression model.Finally,the most significant factors were analyzed with the ROC curve.Results These two groups were obviously different in seven elements such as BMI,Scr,HbAlc and TG,and so on.BMI and HbAlc were the most primary causes for prevention of hypoglycemia.When patients got HbAlc＜8.65％ or BMI＜26.3 kg/m2,they had more opportunity to occur hypoglycemia.Conclusions BMI and HbAlc of patients are primary causes for hypoglycemia.It is of great significance for nurses to enhance diabetes education to the patients with HbAlc＜8.65％ or BMI＜26.3 kg/m2 to alleviate the incidence of hypoglycemia.

Objective:To study the enhancing effect of bFGF-targeted antisense phosphorothioate oligonucleotide (APO)on the chemosensitivity of human laryngeal squamous carcinoma cell line Hep2 to Doxorubicin,5-Fluorouracil, and Cisplatin.Methods:bFGF-specific APO was designed,constructed and transfected into Hep2 cells with jetPEI (polyethyleneimine).Expression of bFGF mRNA was evaluated by semi-quantitative RT-PCR after transfection;immuno- cytochemical method was used to examine the expression of bEGF expression before and after transfection of Hep2;the in- duction of cell apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometry;cell proliferation was then analYzed by MTT assay after treatment with bFGF-specific APO or chemotherapeutic drugs,or a combination of both.Results:bFGF-specific APO inhibited the growth of Hep2 cells in a dose-and time-dependent manner,with the peak inhibitory rate being 25.5%.The expression of bFGF mRNA and protein decreased by 52.0% and 41.1%,respectively.The apoptosis rate of Hep2 cells was 20.5% after transfection,bFGF-specifie APO reduced the 50% inhibitory concentration of Doxorubicin,5-Fluorouracil,and Cis- platin in Hep2 cells by 75.5%,83.5% and 65.4%,respectively.Conclusion:bFGF-specific APO can enhance the chemosensitivity of Hep2 cells,which paves a new way for potential biologic chemotherapy of laryngeal squamous carcino- ma.

Objective To explore the clinical value and typing characteristic of prenatal ultrasonography for fetal cystic adenomatoid malformation of the lung(CAML).Methods Ultrasonographic features and typing of fetal CAML in 41 cases detected by prenatal ultrasonography were analyzed retrospectively.All cases were followed up until to the induction of labor or birth.Results (1)Site of tumor: in the 41 cases,there were 22 cases on the left side,15 on the right side and 4 on bilateral.(2)Typing diagnosis of prenatal ultrasonography: three cases were CAML type Ⅰ,14 were type Ⅱ,and 24 cases were type Ⅲ.(3)Pathology diagnosis: thirty two cases were induced abortion.CAML was confirmed in 29 cases by autopsy and the classifications were consistent with the prenatal diagnosis of ultrasonography.Three pulmonary sequestration cases were prenatally misdiagnosed as CAML type Ⅲ by ultrasonography.(4)The other nine cases were followed up to birth.Three masses decreased gradually and then disappeared.Six newborns were confirmed as CAML by CT.Their typings were consistent with the postnatal diagnosis.(5)The diagnostic accuracy rate of prenatal ultrasonography for CAML was 92.7%(38/41).Its misdiagnostic rate was 7.3%(3/41).Conclusions Prenatal ultrasonography has a high accuracy rate for the diagnosis and classification of CAML and is the first choice to detect CAML early in pregnancy.It has an important clinical value.Pulmonary sequestration should be distinguished from CAML type Ⅲ because they tend to be confused.
