By direct communication between clinicians and laboratorians, obstacles between clinical work and laboratory diagnosis were unequivocally found at an academic conference. Many clinical physicians feel disappointed and frustrated at the laboratory diagnosis by semen analysis and frankly express their expectations, as to recognize the role and significance of laboratory diagnosis, understand the value of routine semen analysis, work out the puzzles in the analysis of sperm morphology, fulfil the requirements for the identification of cells in semen, and obtain responses from and initiate discussions among laboratorians about the relevant questions. Both laboratorians and clinicians are appealing for strengthened management and earlier establishment of national standards and operating specifications for laboratory diagnosis by semen analysis.

To detect the expression of the human papilloma virus (HPV) 16 and HPV18 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in Minnan area. Methods: Real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (FQ-PCR) was applied to detect HPV DNA in 100 esophageal carcinoma sample and 100 normal tissues beside the tumor. Results:The positive rates of high-risk HPV 16 and HPV 18 infection in Minnan esophageal carcinoma and in normal tissues beside the tumor were 14.00%, 15.00%and 7.00%, 8.00%, respectively. The positive rates of lymph node and non-lymph node metastases were 40.98%and 10.25%, respectively. These re-sults exhibited statistical significance (P<0.01). HPV 16 and HPV 18 infection was uncorrelated with patient age, pathological type, and tumor grade (P>0.05). Conclusion:HPV16 and HPV 18 infection was correlated to esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in Minnan ar-eas. Such infection may also contribute to the occurrence and development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Objective To clone and bioinformatically analyze the full-length sequence of F protein binding protein 1 (FBP1). Methods Yeast two-hybrid system was employed to obtain an unknown gene and named it as FBP1.The coding sequence of FBP1 was cloned using molecular biological techniques. Results The coding sequence of FBP1 was cloned successfully. Conclusion FBP1, a cellular protein binding to F protein of HCV, plays an important role in the interaction of virus protein and host cell protein.

Objective To explore the relationship between the carotid artery atherosclerotic(CAA) plaque and its risk factors and cerebral infarction(CI).Methods 196 patients with CI(CI group) and 104 patients without CI(non-CI group) were examined by color Doppler ultrasonography on their carotid artery.The relationships were analysed between the CAA plaque with age,sex,accompany disease,smoking and alcohol drinking of all the pataints.Also,the distribution of different grade plaque was observed in each group.Results The incidences of CAA plaque were higher in patients with aged,accompainied hypertension,diabetes,abnormal blood-lipids and smoking(P

To generate recombinant adenovirus expression vector of human Sema4C gene and observe its expression in mouse myoblasts cell line C2C12 for ensuring easy access to investigate the role of Sema4C gene during myogenesis. The recombinant plasmid was packaged and amplified after being transfected in HEK293 cells through Lipofectamine. After infecting C2C12 myoblasts with recombinant adenovirus vector, the adenoviral infection efficiency was determined by confocal microscope which showed that the expression of green fluorescence could be detected at 12h and then reached peak at 24h after recombinant adenovirus infection. The infection efficiency was almost 100% confirmed by FACS examination. [Objective]To investigate the significance of the high-risk human papilloma virus (HPV)detection in the screening and diagnosis of cervical lesions.[Methods] The high-risk HPV DNA test results of 797 patients with cervical lesions who all accepted cytology and histopathology test were collected and analyzed retrospectively.[Results]The high-risk HPV DNA positive rates in cervicitis,cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)Ⅰ,CIN Ⅱ,CIN Ⅲ and cervical cancer were 53.41％(188/352),70.91％(117/165),87.63％(85/97),97.90％(140/143),97.50％(39/40),respectively.The sensitivity and negative predictive value of the high-risk HPV DNA detection for CIN Ⅱ and more serious lesions were 96.66％(318/329),93.29％(153/164),respectively.The detection rate of CIN Ⅱ and more serious lesions in patients with atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance(ASCUS)and positive high-risk HPV DNA was 30.03％(94/313),while the rate in patients with negative high-risk HPV DNA was 1.55％(2/129).[Conclusions] The more serious the cervical lesion is,the higher high-risk HPV DNA positive rate is.It is most closely related with CIN 11 and cervical cancer.The high-risk HPV DNA detection has high sensitivity and negative predictive value for CIN Ⅱ and more serious lesions.The high-risk HPV DNA detection has high negative predictive value in CIN Ⅱ and more serious lesions in ASCUS.
