Objective To compare the effects of different resuscitation pressure on lung function of rats with uncontrolled hemorrhagic shock.Methods Uncontrolled hemorrhagic shock model of rats was built.Sixty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly sent into six groups: NC group (the control group),NF group (shock but non-resuscitation),NS40,NS60 group (limited fluid resuscitation),NS80,NS100 group (large-volume fluid resuscitation).When the mean arterial pressure (MAP) reached between 35 mm Hg to 40 mm Hg (1 mm Hg=0.133kPa) resuscitation was begun,normal saline infusion was used to maintain the following desired endpoints.After the fluid resuscitation for one hour,rats of each fluid resuscitation group were given haemostasis and all-out fluid resuscitation,including blood infusion,to maintain the rats' MAP at 90 mm Hg.Results Findings showed that the blood loss in limited fluid resuscitation groups was significantly lower than that in large-volume fluid resuscitation groups at the situation of uncontrolled hemorrhagic shock,damage to lung tissue pathology and acidosis were significantly lower than those in large-volume fluid resuscitation groups.Nine rats in NS60 group survived 72 hours.Three rats in NS40 group survived 72 hours.No rat in NF group as well as in both NS80 and NS100 groups survived 72 hours.Conclusions Uncontrolled hem-orrhagic shock in trauma and different pressure of fluid resuscitation can cause lung injury to varying de-grees.Limited fluid resuscitation provide significant protective effects against such injuries.

Objective To explore the role of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1)in development of progressive fibrosis via the inhibition of extracellular matrix degradation,and to reveal the contributive role of PAI-1 in muscular dystrophy(MD).Methods Expression and cellular localization of PAI-1 protein were examined in frozen muscle specimens obtained via biopsy from 5 patients with duchenne muscular dystrophy(DMD),3 patients with becker muscular dystrophy(BMD),9 patients with congenital muscular dystrophy(CMD) and 4 cases with normal muscle by immunohistochemistry,double immunofluorescence and Western-blot analysis.Results PAI-1 was positive only in vascular endothelial cells of normal muscle.Both immunohistochemistry and Western-blot analysis showed that PAI-1 expression distinctly increased in most dystrophic muscles of MD than that in normal muscles.Double immunolabeling revealed that PAI-1 strongly expressed in cytoplasm and nuclei of regenerating muscle fibers,macrophages,macrophage infiltrating necrotic fibers.Some activated fibroblasts in endomysium and perimysium of DMD and CMD muscles were positive for PAI-1.Conclusions The functional consequence of overexpression of PAI-1 in dystrophic muscles is unknown but the elevated local expression of PAI-1 in diseased muscles of MD and their distinct distribution pattern provide evidence that PAI-1 participate in pathogenesis of MD.

Objective To investigate the effect of Qingjing Capsule (QC) in treating advance menorrhea (AM) and to evaluate its safety. Methods Double- blind, double- imitating, parallel- controlled and randomized trial was performed in 63 cases of AM with deficiency- heat syndrome.Thirty- two cases was in QC group(Group A) and other 31 in Gujing pill group(Group B).The menstrual cycle, clinical symptoms and signs, basal body temperature (BBT), serum levels of estradiol (E2) and progesterone and endometrium biopsy were observed to evaluate the effects of QC. Results The short- term markedly- effective rate was 90.63% and 77.42% and the short- term effective rate was 96.88% and 93.55% in Group A and Group B respectively. The long- term markedly- effective rate was 83.87% and 67.74% and the long- term effective rate was 93.55% and 80.65% in Group A and Group B respectively. Objective To explore the culturing strategies,curiculum provision,courses conferring methods,teaching effects as well as the associated managerial evaluations on the basis of Sino-French cooperation on medical education with the hope of summarizing helpful suggestions to Sino-Foreign cooperation on medical education. Methods The achievements of our Sino-French cooperation on medical education were analyzed and compared in the teaching models,culturing strategies along with courses conferring processes among seven-year medical students from both English-teaching and French-teaching classes. Results Our Sino-French cooperation on medical education was featured in its distinct culturing purposes and effective teaching model.Its scientifically formulated culturing strategy found its full expression in French-teaching atmosphere.The Sino-French cooperation on medical education was consistently welcomed and favorably recommended by both faculties and students. Conclusion The Sino-French cooperation on medical education has not only gained precious experience in culturing the cutting-edge medical talents with the international visions but also conduced to fulfill the goal to establish a modernized and internationalized medical school.

OBJECTIVEThere is little knowledge on whether there is clustering of inflammatory biomarkers, such as C-reactive protein (CRP), soluble intracellular adhesion molecule1-1 (sICAM-1), and angiotensin II (Ang II), in individuals with hypertension in the Mongolian population. In the present study, we investigated this relationship in a Mongolian population in China.

METHODSA total of 2589 adult Mongolians, aged 20 years and older, were recruited as study participants. Data on demographics, lifestyle, family history of hypertension, blood pressure, and blood chemistry were collected, and inflammatory biomarkers were measured in all participants.

RESULTSThe proportion of subjects with increased levels of two or three biomarkers was significantly higher in those with hypertension (21.0% and 6.0%, respectively) than in those with prehypertension (12.7% and 0.5%, respectively) or normotension (8.1% and 0.2%, respectively). The multivariate adjusted odds ratios (95% confidence interval) of hypertension associated with increased levels of one, two or three biomarkers were 0.94 (0.72-1.22), 1.42 (0.93-2.16), and 11.08 (1.45-84.80), respectively, compared with subjects with no increase in any biomarker.

CONCLUSIONHypertension was associated with a cluster of inflammatory biomarkers in the Mongolian population.

Objectives To investigate the changes in the masseter muscle following osteotomy of the prominent mandibular angle using real-time three-dimensional (3D) ultrasonography, and to supply guidance for resection of the mandibular angle. Methods Real-time 3D ultrasonography was applied preand post-operatively (over a 6-month follow-up period) to 10 patients who underwent curved osteotomy with the following objectives: (1) to reconstruct the morphological changes of the masseter under different conditions; (2) to assess masseter muscle volume changes, and (3) to obtain the dynamic morphological changes of masseter during mouth opening and closing. Results The reconstructed 3D images revealed that longitudinal diameters of masseter muscle decreased and angle regions changed to be arc-shaped with significant thinning 6 months after operation. The mean volume of masseter muscle was (18. 222 ±3. 028) cm36 months post-operatively, compared with the pre-operation mass of (25. 480 ± 7. 113) cm3,the statistical difference was significant (P＜0.01). Transverse and longitudinal changes of the thickest masseter muscle section 6 months post-operatively were of no statistic difference (P＞0. 01) compared with pre-operation status during mouth opening and closing motions. Conclusion A certain extent of atrophy occurs primarily in the angle region of masseter muscle after mandibular angle ostectomy. However, these changes do not significantly impair masseter muscle function. Real-time 3D ultrasonography offers a novel, safe, and convenient technique for masseter muscle reconstruction and observation of masseter muscle movement.
