Objective Pathogen and antimicrobial susceptibility in children with bacterial meningitis were reviewed. Methods The positive cultures of cerebrospinal fluid samples or blood samples and its antimicrobial susceptibility were analyzed in 401 patients with the clinical diagnosis of bacterial meningitis. Results 401 cases cerebrospinal fluid samples and blood samples submitted to microbiology laboratory, 97 cases (24%) were microscopically and culturally proven to be bacterial meningitis. The most frequent pathogen was staphylococcus aureus (28%), followed by the streptococcus pneumoniae (19%) and escherichia coli (13%). Pediococci as conditioned pathogen, were found in purulent meningitis patients. One of the isolates of Staphylococcus aureus was simultaneously resistant to both vancomycin and teicoplanin. Three isolates showed simultaneous resistance to imipenem/cilastatin.Conclusions Staphylococcus aureus as the predominant pathogens of pediatric ranks first among pediatric patients of purulent meningitis. Serious drug resistance of isolated pathogenic bacteria and its in antimicrobial susceptibility in the bacterial meningitis should be considered in clinical therapy.

Objective To compare the quality of platelet concentrates (PCs) between two different flow speeds of leukodepletion through filtration processes. Methods MCS+version C5 and disposables were used, each of which linked with a leuko-depleted filter of LRF series products,The PCs was gone respectively through a continuous slow filtration process at flow rate about 5 to 8 ml per minute in collection process (L-LDP) and through a fast filtration process at flow rate about 25 ml per minute after collection (F-LDP). The anticipation for PCs yield was ≥2.5?10 11 cells/bag and for residual white blood cells (WBC) was≤5.0?105 cells/bag.Results The PCs products obtained by L-LDP and F-LDP correspondingly showed the mean platelet yield (2.70?0.29)?10 11 cells/bag and (2.56?0.38)?10 11 cells/bag (t=1.25) the residual WBC (7.73?0.01)?104 cells/bag and (2.02?3.05)?105 cells/bag (log t=1.48), the success collection rate 78.6% and 70.6%, as well as the collection efficiency 57.1?6.8% and 55.5?8.7% (t=0.64) against precount. As both anticipated criteria of platelet yield and residual WBC level to be met synchronously, the PCs for L-LDP accounted for 78.6% (22/28) and the one for F-LDP hand only access to 64.7% (11/17).Conclusion The satisfactory results for PCs were obtained through both different leukodepleted filtration processes. As all individualiged indexes observed of L-LDP excelled that of F-LDP, the PCs filtrated at low speed had a better quality than the one at fast speed.

Objective To investigate the expressions of Slit2 and Nogo-A in the ipsilateral hippocampus after cerebral hemorrhage in rats. Methods A total of 64 adult Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats was randomly divided into control and model groups.Collagenase Ⅶ was used to induce cerebral hemorrhage model.Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expressions of Slit2 and Nogo-A in hippocampus at the cerebral hemorrhage side at the time points (24 h,7 d,14 d,and 21 d).Results Compared to the control group, the expressions of Slit2 and Nogo-A were significantly enhanced in model group (P <0.01),with the highest level at the 7 d.Conclutions Cerebral hemorrhage can significantly enhance expressions of Slit2 and Nogo-A with a positive correlation of Slit2 and Nogo-A,which might have an important effect on the recovery of brain injury.

Objective To discuss the set-up isocenter error based on kilovolt cone beam computed tomography (KVCBCT) and to investigate dose deviation led to set-up isocenter error. Methods 21 cases of nasopharyngeal carcinoma ( NPC ) treated with image guided intensity modulated radiotherapy (IG-IMRT)were investigated. The online KVCBCT scan, rigid image registration, set-up error was gained for 376 sets before radiotherapy. We sampled ten and fifteen setup isocenter error in the 376 sets randomly. Without changing beam angle, fields size and leaf sequences and dose weight et al. , we only replaced new isocenter and accumulated the new plan for ten or fifteen plans. We compared the percentage deviation between ten, fifteen times accumulated plans and normal ten , fifteen times plans. Results All 376 sets of KVCBCT image were analyzed for 21 cases. Under the condition of non-correction, the setup isocenter errors are 0. 75mm ± 1.13 mm, 0. 92 mm ±2. 15 mm,0. 82 mm ± 1.24 mm in left-right, superior-inferior and anteriorposterior directions respectively. So, we developed the margins which were 4 mm,6 mm、4 mm in three directions respectively from clinical tumor volume to planning tumor volume (PTV) calculated by two parameters model. In the fifteen accumulated plan, the deviation in the dose of 95% PTV (D95) was -7. 5% - - 11.9%, and the deviation in the D50 was -5. 1% - -8. 2%. Conclusions It is possible of small effects to normal organs and targets because of small error of patient displacement in one fraction. However, many small errors can led to considerable dose difference in targets and normal tissue in thirty fractions of all treatments period. So, according to two parameters model, PTV margin can be designed new planning and depended on IG-IMRT technique, which it will be significantly reduced these dose differences.

Objective To explore the clinical significance of the brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) in evaluating the cardiotoxicity caused by daunorubicin(DNR) through studying the changes of the plasma BNP levels in children with acute leukemia who accepted the chemotherapy with DNR.Methods Thirty-one children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia(ALL) admitted in the year of 2002-2004 underwent the chemotherapy in DVLP project. The plasma level of BNP was measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) and the left ventricular end diastolic diameter(LVEDD) by color Doppler respectively before and after the administration of DNR.Simultaneously, electrocardiography(ECG) and cardiac muscle enzymes(LDH1,CK-MB) were measured as routine. Results The plasma level of BNP increased from(3.97?2.41) ng/L to(18.25?7.63) ng/L(P
