Microbial fouling is important one of fouling in industrial circulating cooling water system. In suitable conditions, microorganisms that caused the forming of fouling could reproduce rapidly, which would increase evidently fouling resistance, flow resistance and corrosion rate, so much as block water cur- rent path to result in running failure of equipments. This paper introduces the concept of microbial fouling, and illuminates the status, function and characteristic of detection technology research for microbial fouling. The present known forming processes of microbial fouling and their important impact factors are summed up. The commonly used monitoring methods at home and abroad, their merits and defects, and also the latest research developments are analyzed especially in the paper. At last, the authors point out the development trends of detection technology for microbial fouling.

Objective To investigate the incidence of contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) in the elderly undergoing coronary angiography and the correlated clinical risk factors. Methods 0.90% sodium chloride (1 ml · kg~-1 · h~-1 ) was administered 6 hours before and 12 hours after contrast media administration for 195 elderly patients, and the dose of sodium chloride was half when the patients were suffering from severe congestive heart failure. The levels of serum creatinine (Scr) and cystatin C were measured 3 days before and on the 2nd,5th day after the administration of contrast, respectively .Results(1) The incidence of CIN was 8.7% (17/195).The renal function of 11 cases recovered to baseline level 3 months after the use of contrast,2 cases had transformation to chronic renal failure but without undergoing maintenance hemodialysis, and 3 cases were dependent on maintenance hemodialysis, while 1 case developed multiple organ dysfunction until death.(2) There was no significant difference between pre-and post-contrast administration in the level of cystatin C (t=O.137,P= 0.891). But the concentration of Scr was reduced significantly on the 2nd day compared with the baseline (t=4.776,P = 0.000).Both the cystatin C and Scr recovered to the baseline on the 5th day.(3) There were no significant differences between the CIN and non-CIN group in gender, the dose of contrast, the baseline Scr,and the proportion of coronary heart disease. But there were significant differences in age,the baseline serum cystatin C,the proportions of diabetes mellitus, hypertension and congestive heart failure.(4) The clinical risk factors of CIN were the baseline Scr (OR = 1.039),the baseline serum cystatin C (OR=6.654),diabetes mellitus (OR=8.104) and congestive heart failure (OR=9.597) according to the analysis of logistic regression.ConclusionsWith the hydration and the use of low-osmolar nonionic contrast,it is safe to receive contrast examination for the elderly patients. The baseline serum levels of Scrand cystatin C,diabetes mellitus and congestive heart failure are the clinical risk factors of CIN.Compared with Scr,serum cystatin C is the more powerful predictor for the development of CIN.

Objective To evaluate the dinical value of MCA and UtA Doppler parameters for the predication of fetus hypoxia. Methods407 singleton pregnancies at the third trimester were underwent Color Doppler,of which 67 cases were in high risk group and 340 cases were in control group.UtA-PI、UtA-RI、UtA-S/D、MCA-PI、MCA-RI and MCA-S/D were all measured. The ratio of UtA to MCA was calculated. All parameters were analyzed. ResultsIn high risk group,UtA-PI,UmA-RI and UtA-S/D were all higher than that in control group(all P<0.01),MCA-PI is lower than that in control group(P<0.05),and the ratio of UtA to MCA was higher than that in control group(all P<0.01).By the standards of(UtA/MCA)-PI ≥ 0.72,(UtA/MCA)-RI ≥ 0.81,and(UtA/MCA)-S/D ≥ 0.74,the predication sensitivity of fetus hypoxia was 63.3%,and the specificity was 90.2%. ConclusionThe ratio of UtA to MCA could predict fetus hypoxia.
4.Screening key genes for preeclampsia in systemic lupus erythematosus patients based on gene expression omnibus databases
Chinese Journal of Clinical Laboratory Science 2024;42(6):461-465
Objective To identify the key genes associated with preeclampsia in the pregnant women with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)using bioinformatics methods and analyze their biological functions. Methods The gene expression dataset GSE108497 related to preeclampsia in SLE pregnancy was obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus(GEO)database.Differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were screened using R software.Gene Ontology(GO)functional annotation and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathway enrichment analyses were performed on the DEGs using online analysis tools.A protein-protein interaction(PPI)network was constructed using the STRING database to identify the key genes.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves were plotted to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of the key genes for preeclampsia in SLE pregnancy. Results A total of 162 DEGs were i-dentified from the GSE 108497 dataset, including 105 upregulated and 57 downregulated genes.GO analysis revealed that the DEGs were mainly involved in T lymphocyte activation and differentiation,neutrophil-mediated immune regulation and degranulation.KEGG analysis indicated that DEGs primarily regulate pathways involved in primary immunodeficiency, glycolysis and antigen presentation.PPI network analysis identified 9 key genes:HMGN2,EEFIB2,RPL32,BTF3,MRPL11,EEFID,EEF1A1,RPL6 and RPLP1.ROC curve analysis suggested that these genes had high diagnostic value for preeclampsia in SLE pregnancy with areas under the curve(AUCROC)greater than 0.9.Conclusion This study identified 9 key genes associated with preeclampsia in SLE pregnancy using bioinformatics analysis of the GEO database. These findings provide potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for the diagnosis and treatment of preeclampsia in SLE pregnancy.

Chinese Journal of Contemporary Pediatrics 2010;12(10):774-776
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the practicability and efficacy of digital retinal camera (RetCam) as a method for early diagnosis of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).
METHODSOne hundred and twelve preterm infants admitted to the First Hospital of Jilin University from June 2007 to March 2008 were enrolled. Fundus examinations were performed by indirect ophthalmoscope and RetCam respectively. The results from RetCam were compared with those from indirect ophthalmoscopy which was a "gold standard" for ROP screening.
RESULTSROP was identified in 46 eyes by RetCam, and in 43 eyes by indirect ophthalmoscope. The sensitivity of RetCamII was 97.7% (43/44) and the specificity was 98.3% (177/180), and the positive and negative predictive values were 93.5% and 99.4%, respectively. The concordance rate for identification of ROP between RetCam and indirect ophthalmoscopy was 97.3%.
CONCLUSIONSRetCam is an effective method for the identification of ROP and is worth recommending.

BACKGROUNDDelayed puberty can result either from constitutional delay of growth and puberty (CDP) or idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (IHH). Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) stimulation test has been generally accepted as a current method for diagnosing delayed puberty. The objective of this research was to assess the cut-off values and the efficacy of GnRH stimulation test in the diagnosis of delayed puberty in both males and females.
METHODSA study of 91 IHH, 27 CDP patients, 6 prepubertal children, and 20 pubertal adults was undertaken. Blood samples were obtained at 0, 30, 60, and 120 min after GnRH administration and the levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) were measured. For each parameter, the sensitivities and specificities were estimated, and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were constructed.
RESULTSThe ROC curves indicated that a serum basal LH <0.6 IU/L or peak LH <9.74 IU/L resulted in moderate sensitivity (73.8% or 80.0%) and specificity (90.9% or 86.4%) in the diagnosis of HH in males. Serum basal LH <0.85 IU/L or basal FSH <2.43 IU/L resulted in moderate sensitivity (80.0% or 100.0%) and specificity (75.0% or 50.0%) in the diagnosis of HH in females.
CONCLUSIONSOur data suggest that isolated use of the gonadorelin stimulation test is almost sufficient to discriminate between HH and CDP in males, but unnecessary in females. The most useful predictor is serum basal or peak LH to differentiate these two disorders in males, but serum basal LH or FSH in females.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Wenyang Yiqi Pingchuan Recipe (WYPR) on the pathomorphology of lung and its regulation on lung tissue contents of nitric oxide (NO) and endothelin-1 (ET-1) in rats with bronchial asthma.
METHODSSixty SD rats were randomly divided into 6 groups: the normal group, the model group, and the four treated groups treated with high dose WYPR, low dose WYPR, Guilong Kechuanning Capsule and aminophylline, respectively, 10 in each group. Except those in the normal group, all rats of bronchial asthma model were established by egg protein sensitization and provocated by inhalation. The treatments were given via gastrogavage every day starting from the first provocation (the 3rd week of modeling) to the execution. Rats were sacrificed after 4-week treatment, their lung was taken for determining the contents of NO and ET-1, and histopathological changes in lung were observed as well.
RESULTSCompared with the normal group, the contents of NO and ET-1 in the lung tissue, the thickness of bronchus wall and bronchus smooth muscle, the number of eosinophil granulocytes increased in the model group and the low dose WYPR group, showing statistical significance (P < 0. 01). As compared with the model group, all the above-mentioned indices were lower in all the 4 treated groups (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01), but the lowering in the WYPR treated groups (either high or low dose) was more significant than in the Guilong Kechuanning treated group (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01); while compared with the aminophylline treated group, the high dose WYPR group was superior in reducing eosinophile granulocytes (P < 0.01), but no significance between them was shown in NO and ET-1 levels (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSWYPR could reduce the eosinophilic infiltration, decrease the contents of NO and ET-1 in the lung tissue, restrain the air passage inflammation and inhibit the pathological process as airway remodeling.

Journal of Clinical Hepatology 2019;35(12):2796-2799
Hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) is the gold standard for the degree of cirrhotic portal hypertension and has limited use in clinical application, and therefore, there is an urgent need for noninvasive assessment methods for portal hypertension. This article introduces various serological, imaging, and elastography methods and combined diagnostic models and elaborates on the current research results and the advantages and disadvantages of each method. It is pointed out that in future, noninvasive diagnostic techniques may play a greater role in screening, monitoring, and risk stratification of patients with cirrhotic portal hypertension.

Objective. This study is to investigate the functional mimicry by using anti-idiotypic antibodies of enzymes.Results.Eight hybridomas strains secreting anti-idiotypic antibodies were selected and characterized. It was shown that two of eight anti-idiotypic antibodies secreted by two hybridomas(1A10C9 and 2A11 C1B3) could mimic HEL catalytic activity to lyse Micrococcus lysodeikticus and that the catalytic effect of mixed anti-idiotypic antibodies of 1A10C9 and 2A11C1B3 was stronger than that of one of them, but less than HEL.Conclusion. The results demonstrated that the anti-idiotypic antibodies that could mimic enzyme activity existed in the idiotype network during anti-enzymatic immune response.
