ObjectiveTo investigate the feasibility of apphcation of risk factors management in nursing of the fever outpatient.Methods145 patients from May to December 2009 admitted to fever clinic was defined as the control group, 157 patients from January to May 2010 admitted to fever clinic were set as the observation group. The control group was given routine nursing, while the observation group adopted risk factor management measures. The management indices of the two groups were compared.ResultsThe patients' recognition score of risk factors of fever clinic was (85.4 ± 2.7)in the observation group, higher than(73.2 ± 3.9)in the control group. Patients' satisfaction degree was 84.7％ in the observation group, higher than 67.6％ in the control group. Rate of risk event of the observation group was 1.3％, lower than 6.2％ in the control group, the incidence of nursing errors was 0.6％ in the observation group, lower than 4.1％ in the control group, rate of patients' complaints of nurses was 1.3％ in the observation group, lower than 5.5％ in the control group.ConclusionsThe implementation of risk factors management in fever clinics can reduce medical accidents, improve nursing quality, so this clinical management mode deserves promotion and application.

Objective To investigate the effect of nursing intervention on preventing leakage of urine in patients with indwelling catheter in neurology department.Methods A total of 76 patients with indwelling catheter in neurology department were randomly assigned into the observation group and the control group with 38 cases in each group.The control group received routine care,the observation group received systemic nursing intervention on the basis of routine care.The incidence of leakage of urine and patients satisfaction degree with nursing service was observed between two groups.Results The incidence of leakage of urine in the control group was 21.1％,higher than 2.6％ of the observation group.he score of satisfaction degree of the observation group was (4.66±0.62),higher than(3.26±0.42) of the control group.Conclusions Nursing intervention can effectively reduce the incidence of leakage of urine and improve the satisfaction degree of patients with indwelling catheter in neurology department,it is worthy of clinical application.

Objective To find out about the attitudes of hospital runners, academic leaders and key members of the technical force in public hospitals about structural reform in their institutions and to explore modes and methods for such reform. Methods Survey questionnaires were designed, anonymous surveys were conducted on the spot, and statistical analyses were made of the data collected. Results Surveys on 1904 people in 55 second- and third-tier hospitals indicated that 84.9% were in favor of structural reform in their institutions; 89.7% played an active part in the reform; 86.8% held that structural reform should first be carried out in large and medium-sized hospitals; 96.6% were in favor of such reform modes as government-controlled stock systems, government-owned and civilian-run hospitals, and non-governmental hospitals, with 66% of them supporting the mode of government-controlled stock systems. Conclusion The majority of hospital runners, academic leaders and key members of the technical force in public hospitals actively support structural reform in their institutions and their views with regard to the modes and methods for such reform are in accordance with the guidelines put forward by the government. Sound ideological foundations have been laid for duly promoting structural reform in public hospitals.

ObjectiveTo compare therapeutic effects of the bone-guided tissue regeneration in combination with a composite bovine-derived xenograft versus flap surgery only on intra-bony defects in elderly patients with periodontal disease. MethodsThirty elderly patients with periodontal disease were randomly divided into two groups. One group was treated by the bone-guided tissue regeneration in combination with a composite bovine-derived xenograft (experimental group). The other group was treated by flap surgery only (control group). Probing depth (PD)and clinical attachment level (AL) were determined before surgery and six months after treatment in two groups. The change of bone amount was also determined before surgery and six months after treatment through computer-assisted densitometric image analysis(CADIA). ResultsThe changes of PD and CADIA were (3.8+1.7)mm, (20. 3+11.1)g/mm2 in experimental group and were (2.5+1.1)mm, (9.4+8. 6)g/mm2 in control group. The differences between two groups were significant (P.＜0. 05). The change of AL was (3.5+ 1.6)mm in experimental group, compared with control group(2. 3 1.7)mm, which showed more obvious regeneration of alveolar bone (P＜ 0. 01). ConclusionsGuided tissue regeneration in combination with a composite bovine-derived xenograft appears to be more effective than flap surgery only for intra-bony defects in elderly patients with periodontal disease.

B-type ultrasound images have important applications in medical diagnosis. However, the widely spread intensity inhomogeneity, low-scale contrast, constructed defect, noise and blurred edges all make it difficult to implement automatic segmentation of lesion in the images. Based on region level set method, a subordinate degree region level set model was proposed, in which subordinate degree probability of each pixel was defined to reflect the pixel subjection grade to target and background respectively. Pixels were classified to either target or background by calculation of their subordinate degree probabilities, and edge contour was obtained by region level set iterations. In this paper, lesion segmentation is regarded as local segmentation of specific area, and the calculation is restrained to the local sphere abide by the contour, which greatly reduce the calculation complexity. Experiments on B-type ultrasound images showed improved results of the proposed method compared to those of some popular level set methods.

Objective To ascertain serum inflammatory markers could be modified following treatment of periodontal disease in elderly patients. Methods The probing depth (PD), clinical attachment level (AL), C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6) were determined. And then fifty-two elderly periodontitis patients underwent a standard phase of non-surgical periodontitis treatment (consisting of oral hygiene instructions and subgingival scaling and root planning). After three and six months, PD, AL, CRP and IL-6 were determined again and compared to the baseline. Results Six months after treatment, significant reductions in PD [(5.9±1.1) mm vs. (6.8±1.0) mm, P＜0.05], AL [(1.3±0.9) mm vs.(8.4±1.1) mm, P＜0.05], CRP [(1.5±0.2) mg/L vs. (2.0±0.3) mg/L, P＜0.01] and IL-6 [(1.6±0.5) ng/L vs. (1.9±0.4) ng/L, P＜0.05] were observed. Conclusions Treatment of chronic periodontitis can decrease the levels of serum inflammatory markers in elderly patients.

[Objective]To investigate the differentiation of acute from chronic osteoporotic vertebral fractures.[Method]The clinical presentation,X-ray,CT and MRI of patients with osteoporotic vertebral fractures were evaluated in the study.[Result]In 36 cases,64% were identified as acute and 36% with chronic osteoporotic vertebral fractures.The decreased anterior vertebral height was a most important criterium for the diagnosis of osteoporotic vertebral fractures.Degenerative changes on the X-ray film were usually found in chronic fractures.A high intense signal in a specific T2 under eliminating fat tissue was always observed in acute fracture.[Conclusion]The local back pain located at the level of the fractured vertebral body suggests an acute vertebral fracture.Degenerative changes occurred in the edged vertebra is indicative of a chronic fracture.The finding of a specific T2 high intense signal under eliminating fat tissue on MRI is a gold standard for the diagnosis of an acute vertebral fracture.

Objective To detect the expression of EGF mRNA in renal parenchyma in congenital hydronephrosis in children and to evaluate the role of EGF in causing chronic renal damage. Methods The expression of EGF mRNA in renal parenchyma, renal pelvis and PUJ tissues from congenital hydronephrosis in children was studied by means of RT PCR. Results The expression of EGF in the aff ected renal parenchyma and PUJ tissues decreased.It also decreased in the affected pelvis but the difference was not significant. The decrease of EGF expression was the most obvious in the affected renal parenchyma. Conclusions EGF expression decreased in renal parenchyma in congenital hydronephrosis and the decrease might be related to the chronic renal damage and renal atrophy caused by hydronephrosis.

The effect of the trace elements on retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) were studied. Thirty preterm infants who had potential high risk factors of ROP were selected as observation group and 18 normal infants as control groups. By using atom spectrophotometer, the contents of serum trace elements (Mg, Cu, Zn, Mn, Se) were measured and analyzed statistically. The contents of serum Zn, Cu and Se in observation group were 0.75+/-0.22, 0.41+/-0.20 and (134.07+/-71.57)x10(-3) mg/L respectively, and 0.55+/-0.12, 0.65+/-0.194 and (202.92+/-44.71)x10(-3) mg/L in control group respectively (P<0.01). The contents of Cu and Se were obviously lower and that of Zn higher in observation group than those in control group. The same results were obtained between the infants with ROP and controls (P<0.01). However, there was no significant difference in the contents of serum Mg and Mn between two groups (P>0.05). It was concluded that the contents of serum Cu and Se in preterm infants who had high risk factors of ROP were obviously lower than in the controls. The contents of serum Cu and Se in the ROP infants were also much lower while contents of Zn much higher. Attention should be paid to the detection of the trace elements in preterm infants in order to prevent the deficiencies of Cu and Se. Only in this way can we prevent the deficiencies of Cu and Se, so as to decrease the ROP risk factors and prevent the disease.

Color blindness represents a group of vision disorders characterized by lack of ability to distinguish different colors.The inherited color blindness has been regarded as incurable for a long period of time.Recently,adeno-associated virus(AAV) mediated gene therapy has successfully restored cone system vision in animal models with color blindness caused by different gene mutations.These mutations are presented in human color blindness patients.It is predicted that gene therapy will become a novel treatment for these color blindness victims.In addition,a single gene transfer may achieve long-term correction of color deficiency.
