Objective To analyze the effect of intravenous dripping of 3% sodium chloride solution on prevention of diluted hyponatremia during transurethral vaporization of the prostate (TUVP). Methods Eighty-five cases with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) accompanied with typical lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) were divided into two groups during undergoing TUVP operation: the control group(n=38) given Ringer's solution dripping (3ml/min) and the concentrated sodium chloride injection group(n= 47) given 3% sodium chloride solution dripping (2～4ml/min). All of the operations were taken via Wolf electric resection system, and the operation time was≥60 min. The complete blood count and serum electrolyte were determined before operation and 60 minutes after operation beginning, and the data were compared between the two groups. Results The decrease amplitude of serum sodium was obviously smaller in concentrated sodium chloride injection group[(1.45±5.14)mmol/L] than that in the control group[(7.79±6.64) mmol/L] 60 minutes after operation beginning (P<0.05). Conclusions Giving 3% sodium chloride solution by intravenous drip during TUVP may reduce the severity of diluted hyponatremia and postpone the occurrence of hyponatremia, and thereby decrease the risk of transurethral resection syndrome.

Objective To evaluate the differentiation and diagnosis of benign renal tumors and tumor-like lesions. Methods The data of 49 cases of benign renal tumors and tumor-like lesions were retrospectively analyzed.All the 49 cases underwent B-ultrasonography and CT;14 cases underwent MRI.The clinical manifestation,imaging features and the pathological results were evaluated.21 cases of benign renal tumors and tumor-like lesions were misdiagnosed as renal carcinoma and underwent nephrectomy.28 cases underwent nephron-sparing tumor excision. Results There was no specificity of the clinical presentation in all the cases.CT and MRI showed that angiomyolipoma had imaging features of intra-tumoral fat.Color Doppler ultrasonography showed the specific features of renal arterio-venous fistula and renal artery aneurysms.The other imaging features of benign renal tumors and tumor-like lesions had no specificity.28 cases who underwent nephron-sparing surgery were followed up for 1 to 9 years and had no relapse.Their renal functions were normal. Conclusions Bulltrosonography,CT and MRI are contributive to the diagnosis and treatment of benign renal tumors and tumor-like lesions.Using nephron-sparing surgery for indeterminate renal masses may reduce misdiagnosis and unnecessary nephrectomy.

AIM: To evaluate the effect of intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) injection 1 week before pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) in proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) patients. METHODS: A retrospective research was done on 46 PDR patients who were divided into PPV group (n=28) and IVB group (n=18, PPV with preoperative IVB). Bevacizumab was injected 1 week before PPV. Main outcome measures were visual acuity, incidence of iatrogenic retinal breaks, intraoperative and postoperative bleeding. RESULTS: At 1 month after surgery, visual acuity in PPV (82.1%) and IVB group (88.9%) improved significantly (P<0.01) and the difference between the two groups was not significant. Iatrogenic retinal breaks were reported in 18 cases (64.3%) in PPV group and 4 cases (22.2%) in IVB group (P<0.05). Intraoperative bleeding was encountered in all cases in PPV group and 7 cases (39%) in IVB group (P<0.01). Postoperative bleeding was reported in 9 cases (32.1%) in PPV group and none in IVB group (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: IVB injection before PPV is helpful in reducing iatrogenic retinal breaks, intraoperative and postoperative bleeding in PDR patients.

AIM:To establish a new method of rapid analysis of puerarin in Xintong Oral Liquid by acousto-optic tunable filter-nearinfrared spectroscopy. METHODS: HPLC was used as a reference method to determine puerarin content in Xintong Oral Liquid. Calibration model based on partial least squares(PLS1) algorithm was developed to correlate the spectra and the corresponding values determined by the reference methods. RESULTS: The root mean square error of prediction(RMSEP) of the model for puerarin was 0.137 1. The determination coefficient was R～2=0.984 5. The correlation coefficient of the true value and predication value from validation was r～2=0.996 4. CONCLUSION: The method is a quick, simple and low cost assay and able to be used in quantitative analysis of Xintong Oral Liquid.

Objective To evaluate the procedure of diagnosis and treatment for cystitis glandularis in female. Methods Forty-seven patients were classified into 3 groups randomly after being operated by tuansurethral resection:15 cases without any other therapy(A group), 16 cases with bladder instillation of pirarubicin afterward (B group), 16 cases with bladder instillation of mitomycin afterward (C group). Symptomatic reliof and recurrence were investigated in 1-year follow-up visit. Results Forty-four cases had fulfilled the entire follow-up visit. The effective rates of the three groups were 38.5%,87.5% and 86.7% respectively (X2=13.80,P＜0.01 ), the recurrence rate was 30.8% ,0,13.3% respectively (X2=4.86,P＞0.05).Conclusions The clinical situation of cystitis glandularis has no specificity. Cystisis glandularis has diversification of the clinical symptoms, urodynamics. Transurethral resection with bladder instillation is more effective than transttrethral resection simply, the recurrence rate is lower.

Objective By analysis oflateralepicondylitis patients MRI features to explore the lateralepicondylitis namedrationality and authorized its opinions for the ninth edition surgery textbook. Methods Cochrane's systematic review methods were used to retrieve the literature about lateralepi-condylitis patients MRI features fromCochrane Library, Medline, OVID, EMBASE, Chinese biomedical literature database (CBM), VIP, CNKI, Wan fang digital journals, and totally 31 articles were reviewed. 13 articles met the inclusion criteria for the lateral epicondyle of humerus elbow in patients with MRI findings. In accordance with the case-control data RevMan 5.0 software was used for Meta analysis withodds ratio (OR) as count data statistics. Interval estimation wasmade of 95% confidence interval (CI). When the datacannot be performed Meta analysis, only qualitative analysis was made. Results 13 studies met the inclusion criteria, including 315 ipsilateralelbows (5 patients with bilateral disease, 305 patients with unilateral disease) and 169 asymptomatic side of the elbow (98 cases of patients with the contralateral elbow, 71 cases of healthy volunteers). The results of Meta analysis suggested that pa-tients and healthy volunteers of elbow MRI showed statistically significance [OR=88.55, 95%CI=(29.20, 268.57)]. Between ipsilateral elbow and contra lateral of elbow MRI showed statistically significance [OR=80.17, 95%CI=(21.53, 298.59)]. MRI analysis showed that in addition to signs of extensor tendon injury, the elbow was also widely associated with other changes, such as radial collateral ligament in-jury, bone marrow edema, joint effusion, tendon tear, and elbows muscle edema. Conclusion Through MRI findings,the maln pathological changes of the so-called lateralepicondyliti-saremalnly for total ex-tensor tendon and adjacent tissue of chronic injury, Naming the current external humeral epicondylitis is unreasonable. Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of photoselective vaporization of prostate (PVP) for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods A total of 161 patients with symptomatic bladder outlet obstruction due to BPH underwent PVP via transurethral with Niagara PV TM system.The therapeutic results were assessed using following variables:the safety and efficacy of sacral anesthesia,blood loss,operative time,indwelling catheterization,mean Qmax,IPSS,QOL and the sexual function. Results The PVP was successfully performed on all the 161 patients with BPH.There were 160 patients under sacral anesthesia and only 1 under epidural anesthesia.The mean operative time was (44.5?22.4)min (range,15～210 min).All patients had minimal or no blood loss and no patients required blood transfusion.No postoperative catheterization was needed in 21 patients. The mean catheterization time was (34.4? 20.8 )h (range,24-72 h).Postoperatively 2 cases had transient dysuria and 2 experienced delayed hematuria.All cases were followed up for 3 to 6 months after treatment.The mean Qmax increased from (6.5? 2.4 )ml/s to (19.8?2.1)ml/s;mean IPSS and QOL decreased to 5.8?1.6 and 1.7?0.4,respectively,which showed significant improvement,compared with those before operation( P
