1.Effects of Early Enteral Feeding Containing MCT/LCT on Improving Protein Catabolism of Burned Patients
Journal of Chinese Physician 2000;0(12):-
Objectives To compare the effects of different early enteral nutrition formula on improving metabolic status of burned patients. Methods Thirty cases of burned patients with total burn surface area (TBSA) more than 30% were randomly divided into two groups:⑴Group F, enteral feeding with Fresubin 750MCT containing MCT/LCT as fat source, ⑵Group N, enteral feeding with Nutrison containing only LCT as fat source. All of the thirty patients received isocaloric, isonitrogenous and isolipidic enteral feeding with intragstric tube and enteral feeding pump, within 24h of postburn. Plasma insulin, glucagons, tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and 3-methylhistidine in urine were measured on day 1,4,7and 10 days of postburn. Results The results showed that the patients of group F had an increased blood concentration of insulin and the ratio of insulin/ glucagons, a decreased plasma concentration of TNF, and a reduced excretion of 3-methylhistidine in urine as compared with the patients of group N. Conclusions An enteral compound diet containing MCT/LCT in the early enteral feeding in burned patients can improve the metabolic status of burned patients more effectively.

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2001;21(1):84-85
ObjectiveTo compare the results of controlled- release glipizide and immediate-re- lease glipizide in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods22 patients took controlled-release glipi- zide as treating group, 20 took immediate-release glipizide as compared. The glucose tolerance, insulin, C- peptide and HbA1c were measured before and after treatment. ResultsBoth of controlled-release glipizide and immediate-release glipizide had good results for controlling blood sugar, but controlled-re- lease glipizide did not increase insulin and C-peptide level. Conclusion The controlled-release glipizide had safe and reliable results for controlling blood sugar and decreasing insulin resistence.

Garcinia plants are one of the rich sources of natural xanthones and benzophenones which have attracted a great deal of attention from the scientists in the fields of chemistry and pharmacology. Recently, many structurally unique constituents with various bioactivities, especially anti-tumor activity, have been isolated from Garcinia plants. This concise review focused on the anti-cancer activity natural products isolated from Chinese Garcinia plants, and the research finding by authors and collaborators over the past several years were cited.

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(11):-
Objective To observe the protective effect of Erigeron Breviscapus(Vant.)Hand-Mazz(EBHM) on retinal ganglion cells(RGCs) and optic nerve in rabbits with elevated intraocular pressure(IOP). Methods Twenty rabbits with chronic elevated IOP were divided into two groups randomly: EBHM treated group(the ocular hypertension with EBHM treated subgroup and the normal IOP with EBHM treated subgroup) and untreated group(the simple ocular hypertension subgroup and the simple normal IOP subgroup). EBHM was irrigated into the stomachs to the treated group after IOP elevated continuously for 7 d.For light and electron microscopy studies, the rabbits' eyes were made into eyeball samples and optic nerve samples after 60 d.The density of RGCs,thickness of retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL),and optic nerve axons were observed and quantitated by computer image analysis system. The ultra-microstructure changes of RGCs and optic nerve axons were observed by electron microscope.Results(①The RNFL) thickness,RGCs density and number of axons of the two ocular hypertension subgroups were decreased, compared with those of the two normal IOP subgroups(P

ObjectiveTo find out the electroencephalogram(EEG)change of the children with language retardation.MethodsThe EEG change and prognosis of 78 cases of language retardation children were analysed and compared with normal ones.ResultsThe EEG abnormal rate of language retardation was 69.3%,while that of the normal children was 10%(P<0.001).Conclusions The EEG is helpful to understand the developmental status of brain functions.

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of needling gluteus medius muscle trigger point (TrP) plus chiropractic for sacroiliac joint subluxation. Methods:A total of 124 cases conforming to the inclusion criteria of sacroiliac joint subluxation were classified by anterior subluxation and posterior subluxation, and randomized into a TrP group and a conventional group respectively. There were 63 patients with anterior subluxation who were randomized into a TrP group of 32 cases (including 4 dropped out cases) and a conventional group of 31 cases (including 3 dropped out cases);and 61 patients with posterior subluxation who were randomized into a TrP group of 31 cases (including 3 dropped out cases) and a conventional group of 30 cases (including 3 dropped out cases).Patients in the TrP group received the treatment of needling gluteus medius muscle TrP plus chiropractic, while patients in the conventional group received conventional acupuncture treatment plus chiropractic. The treatment was done twice a week for a succession of 8 weeks. Then, the pain visual analog scale (VAS),Oswestry disability index (ODI) and therapeutic efficacy were evaluated. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate of TrP group with anterior subluxation was 96.9%,higher than 77.4% in the conventional group, the difference showed a statistical significance (P<0.05);the total effective rate was 93.5% in the TrP group with posterior subluxation, higher than 73.3% in the conventional group. After treatment, the VAS and ODI scores in both groups dropped obviously, the differences showed statistical significance (all P<0.05);the scores of VAS and ODI in the TrP group were obviously lower than those in the conventional group (all P<0.05).Conclusion:Needling gluteus medius muscle TrP plus chiropractic had a better therapeutic effect than conventional acupuncture plus chiropractic for sacroiliac joint subluxation.
