BACKGROUND: Whether a combination of the nano-hydroxyapatite (nHA) scaffolds with bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) is superimposed to promote or inhibit the bone marrow stromal stem cells, as well as its biocompatibility, remain unclear.OBJECTIVE: To observe the biocompatibility and bone formation activity of nHA/BMP-2 co-cultured with rabbit bone marrow stem cells in vitro.METHODS: Bone marrow stem cells obtained from rabbits were cultured and proliferated in DMEM medium in vitro. The cells at the third passage were inoculated into four mediums and according divided into four groups: control group, BMP-2 group, nHa group, and nHa/BMP-2 group. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The cell diplo-proliferation time of control group and nHa group was longer than that in BMP-2 group and nHa/BMP-2 group. The cells proliferative activity calculated by MTT assay and bone formation activity based on the alkaline phosphatase method demonstrated statistical significant difference in BMP-2 group and nHa/BMP-2 group compared with control and nHa group (P < 0.01). Experimental findings indicate that, the tissue formation of nHA/BMP-2 not only has good biocompatibility with Bone marrow stem cells, but also could bring into full play the effect of BMP-2 for promoting the proliferation, differentiation, and bone formation activity of bone marrow stem cells.

Protein ubiquitination is one of the most important and widely exist protein post-translational modifications in eukaryotic cells, which takes the ubiquitin and ubiquitin chains as signal molecules to covalently modify other protein substrates. It plays an important roles in the control of almost all of the life processes, including gene transcription and translation, signal transduction and cell-cycle progression, besides classical 26S protesome degradation pathway. Varied modification sites in the same substrates as well as different types of ubiquitin linkages in the same modification sites contain different structural information, which conduct different signal or even determine the fate of the protein substrates in the cell. Any abnormalities in ubiquitin chain formation or its modification process may cause severe problem in maintaining the balance of intracellular environment and finally result in serious health problem of human being. In this review, we discussed the discovery, genetic characteristics and the crystal structure of the ubiquitin. We also emphasized the recent progresses of the assembly processes, structure and their biological function of ubiquitin chains. The relationship between the disregulation and related human diseases has also been discussed. These progress will shed light on the complexity of proteome, which may also provide tools in the new drug research and development processes.

A new organic-soluble co-reactant of N,N,N’,N’-tetrakis(propyl)-pentanediamine (TPPD) was synthesized and co-immobilized with tris ( 2, 2’-bipyridine ) ruthenium ditetrakis ( 4-chlorophenyl ) borate ([Ru(bpy)3][4-(Clph)4B]2) on an indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode for electrochemiluminescent (ECL) study. The hydrophobicity of TPPD prevented its leakage from the electrode surface, thus the long-term stability of the ECL electrode was enhanced. The TPPD/[Ru(bpy)3][4-(Clph)4B]2 modified-ITO electrode exhibited strong, stable and reproducible ECL signal. The ECL signal could be quenched efficiently by phenol with a quenching efficiency of 95. 4% in the presence of 0. 1 mmol/L phenol, demonstrating the potential of the modified electrode in determination of phenolic compounds. The transient-state of the electrogenerated chemiluminescence reaction was also investigated, which revealed that the TPPD/[Ru(bpy)3][4-(Clph)4B]2 modified-ITO electrode had a longer lifetime than conventional TPA-Ru(bpy)2+3 co-reactant system.

Objective To explore the correlation between the epicaridal adipose tissue (EAT)volume and the SNYTAX score in patients with coronary artery diseases and to evaluate its clinical value. Methods Epicardial fat volume of 102 patients with coronary heart disease in our hospital were measured on dual-source CT angiography images,SNYTAX scores were calculated, and level of blood lipids, blood glucose (Glu),blood pressure, renal functional parameters and body mass index(BMI)were collected.Depending on SNYTAX scores, patients were divided into three groups (mild 0-22,moderate 23-32 and severe>33).The difference of EAT volume between groups and correlation with other indicators were analyzed. With indictors statistical significant in one-factor analysis,multi-ple regression equation was constructed to evaluate the risk factors of coronary artery diseases, particularly correlation between EAT volume and SNYTAX score. Results EAT,TC,TG,HDL,HbALc,GLu and BMI were significant different between three groups. Pearson regression showed that EAT,TC,GLu and BMI were independently risk factor in relation to the value of SNYTAX.Among them, standardized regressive coefficient of the EAT volume was the highest (β=0.52).Conclusion EAT volume is significantly positively correlated with the SNYTAX score in coronary heart disease, which can be as an effective predictor for its severity and prognosis.

AIM:To perform a new method for orbital implant and contracted socket through one time and its results. ·METHODS:Totally 114 patients 114 eyes, from January 2008 to June 2014, with contracted socket participated in this study. We incised the bulbar conjunctiva horizontally and excised scar tissue, then implanted the hydroxyapatite in the four extraocular muscles and tightly sutured the Tenon ' capsule. After that, we put the superior and inferior conjunctival petals backwards and sutured them to the Tenon ' s capsule. All the patients were divided into four groups according to the vertical diameter length of the conjunctival defect area:GroupⅠ:≤5mm; Group Ⅱ: 6-10mm; Group Ⅲ: 11-15mm; and Group Ⅳ: ≥16mm. These patients were followed up for 6mo to 3y to observe the conjunctival sac shaping and growth of conjunctiva. ·RESULTS:There were 64 cases in GroupⅠ, 31 cases in Group Ⅱ, 16 cases in Group Ⅲ and 3 cases in Group Ⅳ. All patients ' conjunctival defect was covered by new conjunctiva and scar tissue 4 to 6wk after surgeries. Ten cases had contracted socket; 2 cases had orbital implant exposure, requiring reoperation. Of the 114 cases, 8 had contracted socket and could use a smaller conformer, 106 could use a normal size conformer. ·CONCLUSION: When the conjunctival defect was ≤15mm, this new method can address the orbital implant and contracted socket at the same time. While it was ≥16mm, flap transplantation is necessary.
