BACKGROUND: What kind of traumatic changes could be observed in remote lumbar spinal cord after high-speed steel ball induced sciatic nerve injury?OBJECTIVE: To study the ultra structural changes of lumbar spinal cord motor neurons after the sciatic nerve injury due to high-speed steel ball.DESIGN: Retrospective randomized controlled study with experimental animals as subjects.SETTING: The field operation research institute of a military medical university college.MATERIALS: This study was carried out at the Ballistic Laboratory of Research Institute for Surgery from May 2001 to December 2002. Sixty-five SPF flap-eared rabbits of either gender weighing from 2.5 to 3.0 kg were provided by the Experimental Animal Center of Daping Hospital Affiliated to the Third Military Medical Univeristy of Chinese PLA. All the rabbits were divided randomly into normal control group( n = 5), firearms injury group (n = 30) and cutting injury group( n = 30) . The two latter groups were subdivided into one-day, three-day, one-week, two-week, 4-week and twelve-week groups with 5 rabbits in each group.METHODS: The rabbits in the firearms injury group were injured at the midpoint of lateral posterior body surface projection of the right sciatic nerve with 0. 38 g steel ball containing 0.65 g detonators. The right sciatic nerve was cut at the same injury level in the cutting injury group.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The following pathologic changes of the lumbar spinal cord were observed with optical and electronic microscope at posttraumatic day 1, day 3 and week 1, week 2, week 4 and week 12 respectively.RESULTS: Micro-hemorrhage, neuron swelling and vacuoles were observed in the firearms injury group and the number of motor neurons decreased significantly, but these changes were unobservable in the cutting injury group.CONCLUSION: Compared with the cutting group, the injury to the spinal cord was severer in the firearms group and the survival neurons were less.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2004;0(09):-
Henoch-Schonlein purpura(HSP)is the most common vasculitic disease affecting children, which is a multisystem immunoglobulin A mediated vasculitis with a self-limited course affecting the skin, joints, gastrointestinal tract and kidneys.Antiphospholipid syndrome(APS)is a systemic autoimmune disorder characterized by a combination of arterial or venous thrombosis and recurrent fetal loss, accompanied by elevated titers of antiphospholipid antibodies. Both HSP and APS are multisytem diseases and are thought to result from immunologically mediated processes. It was known that APS can associated with HSP,but the relationship between the 2 diseases is unclear. The literature on HSP associated with APS was reviewed and the possible mechanism was analyzed.

Microbiology 1992;0(01):-
The DNA fragment RM07 was isolated from halophilic archaea Halobacterium halobium, which can function as promoter not only in halophilic archaea, but also in Escherichia coli as eubacterial promoter. Sequencing analysis indicated that it possessed the typical consensus sequences (-35 and -10) of bacterial gene promoter, which was confirmed by further deletion analysis: With its -35 sequence deleted and -10 sequence left,DNA fragment RM07a nearly cannot initiate transcription; With its both -35 and -10 sequences,RM07b DNA fragment could be active as promoter at a level even higher than RM07. Our research also showed that the promoter function of RM07 fragment in Escherichia coli was under the control of environmental factors, especially its positive correlation with the increasing concentration of sodium chloride. Therefore, RM07 DNA fragment may be potential1 novel promoter source for constructing double-function vectors. It also has special significance in elucidating the issues of the fusing characteristics of archaea and lateral gene transfer between archaea and bacteria.

Objeract:To evaluate the effects of controlled release tinidazole(TNZ) membrane in the treatment of adult periodontitis. Methods:Adult periodontitis was treated with TNZ membrane in 15 cases (25 teeth),with Metronidazole(MNZ) in 15 cases (24 teeth) and with vehicle membrane in 15 cases (25 teeth). The effects were evaluated by clinical observation, biochemical examination and becteria test. Results: TNZ membrane more significantly inhibited bacteria (P

Objective To search a better novae biomaterial applied to guide bone regeneration for promoting the healing of acute bone trauma by the experimental study of Haversian remodeling.Method Circular bone defects of 5mm diameter were created in tibias and the corners of mandibles in 36 rabbits. The defects were covered with calcium alginate film (CAF) in the experimental group, collagen membrane (CM)and no membrane (blank) in the control groups respectively. Healing conditions were analyzed using gross inspection, and histological and immunohistochemical studies after 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks respectively. Results The experimental group appeared more and earlier Haversian remodeling with osteoinductive factors leading to better bone regeneration. The control groups showed more macrophages with CM absorbed slowly, weak and delayed Haversian remodeling, and less osteoinductive factors ( P < 0.05) in the early stage. Conclusions Calcium alginate film, as a relatively cheaper biomaterial, provided better effect than the collagen membrane on guided bone regeneration, because of its better Haversian remodeling and more content of osteoinductive factors shown in this experiment.

Objective To observe the effect of Dezocine in preventing the adverse reactions during the operation of cesarean delivery. Methods We selected 60 pregnant women in the ASA level Ⅰ who were going to undergo the operation of cesarean delivery. Then we divided them into two groups in random:group A (studying group) and group B (control group),each group had 30 patients. After the fetus were delivered, the patients in group A were given intravenous injection of 1mg of dezocine, and the patients in group B were only given 1 ml saline. Then we observe the heart rate (HR),systolic blood pressure (SBP) and the degree of blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) in seven time points, and analyzed the incidence of contraction pains, chills, nausea and vomiting during the operation in both groups. The time points were when patients entered the operation room (T0),the level of anesthesia was established (T1),5 minutes after fetus were delivered (T2),10 minutes after fetus were delivered (T3),15 minutes after fetus were delivered (T4),30 minutes after fetus were delivered (T5) and the end of operation (T6).Results Compared with group A,the SBP at T2,T3 and T4 were obviously higher than those in group B (P<0.05).And the HR increased at T2 to T6 in control group (P<0.05) as compared with group A.The incidence of contraction pains were milder in group A than group B (P<0.05).In group A,the incidence of chills was13.3%,and in group B,the rate was 30%.Conclusion Dezocine can prevent the adverse reactions during the operation of cesarean delivery.

AIM: To investigate the alteration of classical protein kinase C-?(cPKC-?)in the ascitic white blood cells of rats with acute pancreatitis (AP), and explore the effects of aspirin (ASP) or tetrandrine (Tet) on them. METHODS: The total of 56 health SD rats were divided into four groups, AP+ASP group, AP+Tet group, AP+normal saline (NS) group, and sham operation control (SO) group. AP model was induced by a retrograde injection of 3% sodium deoxycholate into the pancreatic duct. The AP+Tet group received a intraperitoneal injection of Tet (80 (mg/kg)), respectively. The AP+ASP group received an infusion of ASP (12.5 mg/100 g) by use of a nose-gastric catheter. At 1 h, 5 h after the treatment, cPKC-? in the ascitic white blood cells of AP rats was measured by Western blot and chemiluminescence, and the semi-quantitative values was obtained by Gel-pro analyzer. RESULTS: The values of cPKC-? decreased in AP+NS group, but increased significantly in the groups treated with ASP and Tet (P
