Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2005;25(2):159-61, 165
To explore the mechanism of Notch in hyperoxia-induced preterm rat lung injury, 2-days-old preterm SD rats were randomized into control and hyperoxia group (FiO2 > or = 0.85). On day 1, 7, 14 and 21, 8 rat pups of each time point were used to assess histopathological changes of lung with HE staining and to evaluate the expression of Notch1 and Notch3 with immunohistochemistry. Notch1, Notch3, Aquaprin5 (AQP5) and surfactant protein C (SP-C) mRNA were measured by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The results showed that the lung injury in the hyperoxia group was characterized by retarded lung alveolization and differentiation of alveolar epithelial type II cells (AEC II). Positive staining of Notch1 in hyperoxia group was weaker than controls at every time point (except for day 7), while positive staining of Notch3 was much stronger (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). Notch1, Notch3 mRNA level showed similar change as protein level. AQP5, SP-C mRNA decreased significantly as compared with that of the controls (P < 0.01). We are led to conclude that hyperoxia results in abnormal expression of Notch, which is likely to contribute to the pathogenesis of lung injury through regulating proliferation and transdifferentiation of alveolar epithelial cells.

Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2015;50(3):272-277
The quality of traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) has been mainly evaluated based on chemical ingredients, yet recently more attentions have been paid on biological ingredients, especially for pill-based preparations. It is a key approach to establish a fast, accurate and systematic method of biological ingredient analysis for realization of modernization, industrialization and internationalization of TCMs. The biological ingredient analysis of TCM preparations could be abstracted as the identification of multiple species from a biological mixture. The metagenomic approach based on high-throughput-sequencing (HTS) and big-data-mining has been considered as one of the most effective methods for multiple species analysis of a biological mixture, which would also be helpful for the analysis of biological ingredients in TCMs. Simultaneous identification of diverse species, including the prescribed species, adulterants, toxic species, protected species and even the biological impurities introduced through production process, could be achieved by selecting appropriate DNA biomarkers, as well as applying large-scale sequence comparison and data mining. By this approach, it is prospective to offer an evaluation basis for the effectiveness, safety and legality of TCM preparations.

Journal of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University 2014;(11):1266-1268
Objective] The explanations of the six meridians theory in the book Shanghan Lun were always divergent, most of them explained it with medical theory of later ages. However, il ustrating it from the philosophic perspective was not commonly seen. Yi Jing, the book of changes, was the origin of traditional Chinese philosophy, and the six meridian system, which included three yin and three yang, was just derived from the four xiang(a traditional Chinese concept which refers to taiyang, shaoyin, shaoyang, taiyin). [Method] Through the eight trigrams and the images were analyzed with the Treatise on Six Classicsstate gasification combined with analysis Zhongjing Six Classics theoretical system and the principle of prescription. [Result] Found that eight trigrams can be good images of the corresponding six by the system, the difficult provisions in Tretise on Febrile Diseases were wel explained. [Conclusion]Through combining the images of Bagua(eight trigrams) in Yi Jing with six meridians in Shanghan Lun,il ustrating six meridians from philosophic aspect, and explaining the six meridians theory with philosophical ideas before Zhongjing ’s(the writer of Shanghan Lun) age, in order to provide new ways of thinking in comprehending the six meridians system.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2015;32(1):181-196
More and more medical devices can capture different features of human body and form three dimensional (3D) images. In clinical applications, usually it is required to fuse multiple source images containing different and crucial information into one for the purpose of assisting medical treatment. However, traditional image fusion methods are normally designed for two dimensional (2D) images and will lead to loss of the third dimensional information if directly applied to 3D data. Therefore, a novel 3D magnetic image fusion method was proposed based on the combination of newly invented beyond wavelet transform, called 3D band limited shearlet transformand (BLST), and four groups of traditional fusion rules. The proposed method was then compared with the 2D and 3D wavelet and dual-tree complex wavelet transform fusion methods through 4 groups of human brain T2* and quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) images. The experiments indicated that the performance of the method based on 3D transform was generally superior to the existing methods based on 2D transform. Taking advantage of direction representation, shearlet transform could effectively improve the performance of conventional fusion method based on 3D transform. It is well concluded, therefore, that the proposed method is the best among the methods based on 2D and 3D transforms.

Journal of Integrative Medicine 2007;5(2):189-92
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of heterogenous suberect spatholobus stem (Spatholobus suberectu, Mucuna birdwoodiana, Millettia oosperma and Millettia dielsiana) on peripheral blood cell counts of mice with bone marrow suppression induced by (60)Co gamma ray irradiation. METHODS: Bone marrow suppression was induced by sublethal dose of (60)Co gamma ray in mice. White blood cell (WBC), red blood cell (RBC) and platelet (PLT) counts in peripheral blood of the mice were detected one day, 3, 7, 14 and 21 days after intragastric administration of different doses of the four kinds of suberect spatholobus stem, respectively. RESULTS: A slowdown of the decrease of WBC, RBC and PLT counts in peripheral blood of the mice with bone marrow suppression was observed after intragastric administration. The WBC, RBC and PLT counts in the Mucuna birdwoodiana-treated and Spatholobus suberectu-treated groups were significantly higher than those in the untreated group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: All the four kinds of heterogenous suberect spatholobus stem can accelerate the recovery of WBC, RBC and PLT counts in peripheral blood of mice with bone marrow suppression, while the effects of Spatholobus suberectu and Mucuna birdwoodiana are relatively good.

Objective To analyse and understand the main reasons for cesarean section,in order to reduce the rate of cesarean section. Methods Clinical analysis was performed in 6781 patients who underwent cesarean section from January 2004 to December 2008. Results ①Cesarean section rate was increasing from 2004 to 2008, which was 32. 00% (840/2625) , 35. 00% (966/2760) , 39. 08% (1186/3035), 45. 98% (1669/3630) and 51. 88% (2120/4086) .respectively. Compared to 2004, the cesarean section rate in 2008 increased significantly (P <0.01). ②The proportion of the main cesarean section indications changed, the proportion of social factors ,fetal factors and maternal factors were increasing gradually. Cephatopelvic disproportion in 2008 decreased significantly compared to that in 2004(x2 = 194. 805 ,P <0. 01). There was significent difference in each indication from 2004 to 2008. Conclusions The cesarean section rate has increased due to medical reasons and social reasons. To ensure the safety of the mothers and children, vaginal delivery should be adopted as far as possible. The cesarean section without medical indication should be prohibited.
