The resident match system established in 1952.And since then almost all of the senior medical students and international students have applied a position of resident training in this national system. They seek a respective resident program and hospital for training while the hospital hires students they preferred. The match procedure includes submitting application, interview of selected candidates, submitting rank-order list of both parties, centralizing matching service by computer and announcement of the results in Match Day.This is a relatively stan-dardized,rational and fair system which we can learn something from.

Objective To investigate the protective effect of intermedin(IMD)on renal ischemia reperfusion injury(IRI)and its mechanism. Methods A total of twenty-four male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups: control group, IRI group, empty plasmid group and IMD group. After remove of right kidney, plasmid was transfected into the kidney by ultrasonic microbubbles technology, and IRI model was made after 1 week. Renal pathology was observed by PAS staining. Renal tissue superoxide dismutase(SOD), myeloperoxidase(MPO), caspase-3 activity, and malondialdehyde(MDA)content were detected by colorimetric method. The intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1), endothelin 1(ET-1)and P-selection expression of renal tissue were detected by immunohistochemical method. Apoptosis of renal tubular cell was detected by TUNEL.Results Compared with control group, tubulointerstitial pathological injury was significant aggravated in IRI group(P<0.01);compared with IRI group, IMD pretreatment significantly alleviated the degree of renal injury(P<0.01). Compared with control group, in IRI group, SOD activity was significantly decreased(P<0.05), MPO activity, caspase-3 activity, MDA production and the expression of ICAM-1, P-selection, ET-1 were increased significantly(all P< 0.01). Compared with IRI group, IMD pretreatment significantly increased SOD activity(P <0.05), decreased the MPO activity, caspase-3 activity, MDA production and the expression of ICAM-1, P-selection, ET-1 (all P<0.01). The apoptosis rate of renal tubular epithelial cells in IRI group was significantly higher than that in control group(34.83%±8.75% vs 3.33%±0.47%, P<0.01), while the apoptosis rate of IMD group(20.67%±7.71%)was significantly lower than that of IRI group. There was no difference of above indexes between empty plasmid group and IRI group. Conclusions IMD pretreatment protects against renal IRI. The mechanism may be at least partly related to the clearance of oxygen free radicals, the improvement of lipid peroxidation, inflammatory cell infiltration and cell apoptosis, leading to the decrease of the production of reactive oxygen species caused by oxidative stress.

Objective To study interleukin-1 receptor(IL-1R) and connexin(Cx36) gene expression following Mg 2+-free-induced seizures in cultured developing neuron. Methods Rat embryo cortical neurons cultured for 6 and 17 days were exposed to Mg 2+-free media to induce seizure. At different time after Mg 2+-free treatment, real-time RT-PCR was used to detect IL-1R and Cx36 mRNA expression. Results 1. IL-1R mRNA expression transiently decreased after Mg 2+-free treatment in neurons cultured for 6 and 17 days in vitro. Then the levels of IL-1R mRNA expression recovered in neurons cultured for 6 days, but IL-1R mRNA expression were increased in neurons cultured for 17 days compared with control group and the peak was at 24 hours. 2. In neurons cultured for 6 days in vitro, Cx36 mRNA expression increased after Mg 2+-free treatment compared with control group, the peak was at 24 hours. But in neurons cultured for 17 days in vitro, Cx36 mRNA expression decreased at 6 hours after Mg 2+-free treatment compared with control group, the peak was at 24 hours. Conclusions IL-1R mRNA and Cx36 mRNA expression following Mg 2+-free-induced seizures are different between the neurons cultured for 6 and 17 days in vitro. This is possibly related to the different neuron injury between 6 and 17 days in vitro following seizures.

Aim To investigate the up-regulation of miR-22 through Wnt pathway inhibits the proliferation, migration and invasion in human gastric MGC803 cells induced by diallyl disulfide(DADS).Methods The effects of proliferation, migration, and invasion of gastric cancer cells were evaluated by MTT,wound-healing and invasion assays.Online prediction software was applied to search the target gene of miR-22.Luciferase report gene assay was used to assess the target genes Wnt-1 of miR-22.The expressions of Wnt-1,β-catenin and TCF-4 were tested by qRT-PCR and Western blot, respectively. Results MTT showed that DADS and miR-22 notably decreased the proliferation compared with control group(P<0.05).Wound-healing assay showed that DADS and miR-22 could significantly inhibit the migration of MGC803 cells compared with the control group, especially in miR-22+DADS(P<0.05). Invasion assay showed that DADS and miR-22 could markedly inhibit the invasion of MGC803 cells compared with the control group, especially in miR-22+DADS(P<0.05). Online prediction software to search the target gene exhibited that Wnt-1 may be a target gene of miR-22. Luciferase report gene assay disclosed that Wnt-1 was identified as a direct target of miR-22. Qrt-PCR showed that the expression of Wnt-1 Mrna was respectively down-regulated by DADS and miR-22 compared withcontrol group, especially in miR-22+DADS(P<0.05). Western blot exhibited that DADS and miR-22 obviously suppressed the expressions of Wnt-1, β-catenin and TCF-4 proteins, especially in miR-22+DADS(P<0.05).Conclusion Up-regulation of miR-22 through Wnt pathway can remarkably suppress the proliferation, migration and invasion in MGC803 cells by DADS.

The Arabidopsis thaliana tonoplast Na+ /H+ antiporter gene, AtNHX1, was transferred into buckwheat by Agrobacterium-mediated method. Transgenic buckwheat plants were regenerated and selected on MS basal medium supplemented with 2.0mg/L 6-BA, 1.0mg/L KT, 0.lmg/L IAA, 50mg/L kanamycin and 500mg/L carbenicillin. 426 seedlings from 36 resistant calli originated from 864 explants (transformed about at 4.17 percentage) exhibited resistance to kanamycin. The transformants were confirmed by PCR, Southern blotting, RT-PCR and Northern blotting analysis. After stress treatment for 6 weeks with 200mmol/L NaCl, transgenic plants survived, while wild-type plants did not. After 3 days of stress treatment through different concentrations of NaCl, transgenic plants accumulated higher concentration of Na+ and proline than the control plants. However, the K+ concentration of transgenic plants declined in comparison with the control plants. Moreover, the rutin content of the roots, stems and leaves of transgenic buckwheat increased than those of the control plants. These results showed that it could be possible to improve the salt-tolerance of crops with genetic technology.
