OsRacD is a critical molecular switch involved in photoperiod fertility conversion of photoperiod sensitive genic male sterile rice.Taking OsRacD as bait,a new rice myosin heavy chain partial cDNA was isolated from the rice panicle by yeast two-hybrid,and designated OsMY1.The interaction between OsMY1 and OsRacD had been testified by yeast two-hybrid and pull down assay,it showed that OsMY1 could bind with OsRacD,suggested that OsMY1 maybe the target of OsRacD.The important evidence for further study on the functional relationship between OsMY1 and OsRacD in vivo are also provided.

In order to assess the feasibility of subcutaneous administration of Triptorelin with 6-week intervals for the suppression of pituitary-gonadal axis and changes of clinical signs in girls with idiopathic central precocious puberty (ICPP), 46 girls with ICPP were treated with GnRHa. Triptorelin (Decapeptyl, 3.75 mg) was administered subcutaneously (SC) at 6-weeks intervals or intramuscularly (IM) at 4-weeks intervals randomly for more than 12 months consecutively. During GnRHa therapy, clinical parameters and laboratory data, including height, weight, pubertal stage, bone age, uterine volume and ovarian size, serum levels of luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and estradiol (E2), were monitored and analyzed. It was found that both treatment regimes led to regression of precocious puberty and reversal of secondary sexual characteristics. Breast developments regressed. Uterine volume was decreased after treatment, but there was no statistically significant difference. Mean ovarian volume did not change significantly during treatment. The height velocity was decreased significantly from 6.3+/-1.4 cm/year to 5.8+/-1.2 cm/year in group SC and 6.7+/-1.3 cm/year to 5.4+/-1.0 cm/year in group IM, respectively. The rate of bone maturation was reduced significantly during treatment. The ratio of deltaBA/deltaCA was 1.2+/-0.2 or 1.3+/-0.3 at the onset of therapy and decreased significantly after the treatment to 0.7+/-0.2 or 0.9+/-0.1, respectively. The predicted adult height was increased significantly and progressively during therapy. The levels of serum LH, FSH and E2 returned to the prepubertal condition. No significant side effects of therapy were noted. The most common side effect during SC treatment was that a non-irritating, 1 cm in diameter mass was palpated at the site of subcutaneous injection in the abdominal wall of patients, which disappeared after 6-12 weeks. Two girls had minimal withdrawal vaginal bleeding episodes after the first injection. It was concluded that both IM and SC triptorelin administrations were clinically effective. They induce profound suppression of hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis while stabilizing height velocity, slowing bone maturation and increasing predicted adult height. These results suggest that subcutaneous injection of triptorelin in 6-weeks intervals at a dosage of 3.75 mg be a safe and acceptable regimen for ICPP

Referring to the rules for agricultural seed testing (GB /T 3543-1995) issued by China, the test of sampling, seed purity, weight per 1 000 seeds, seed moisture, seed viability and germination rate had been studied for screening seed quality test methods of Pesudostellaria heterophylla. The seed quality from different collection areas was measured. The results showed that at least 6.5 g seeds should be sampled and passed through 10-mesh sieve for purity analysis. The weight of 1 000 seeds was determined by using the 500-seed method. The phenotypic observation and size measurement were used for authenticity testing. The seed moisture was determined under the higher temperature (130 ± 2) degrees C for 5 hours. The seeds were dipped into 0.2% TTC sustaining 1 hour at 40 degrees C, then the viability could be determined. The break dormancy seeds were cultured on sand at 10 degrees C. K cluster analysis was applied for the data analysis, the seed quality from different collection areas grading of P. Heterophylla was described as three grades. The seed quality of each grade should reach following requirements: for first grade seeds, germination rate ≥ 86%, 1 000-grain weight ≥ 2.59 g, purity ≥ 87%, moisture ≤ 13.1%; for second grade seeds, germination rate ≥ 70%, 1 000-grain weight ≥ 2.40 g, purity ≥ 77%, moisture ≤ 14.3%; for third grade seeds, germination rate ≥ 41%, 1 000-grain weight ≥ 2.29 g, purity ≥ 76%, moisture ≤ 15.8%. The seed testing methods for quality items of P. heterophylla had been initially established, as well as the primary P. heterophylla seed quality classification standard.

Objective To investigate the value of urinary trehalase (T) in patients with renal proximal tubular damage. Methods 134 patients with kidney disease (male:66 female:68 age:18-59 ; 31cases with acute renal failure,30 cases with chronic renal failure,20 cases with drug-induced renal impairment,21 cases with renal transplantation and 32 cases with nephritic syndrome) and 101 healthy controls (58 males and 43 females) were selected.Urinary T,N-acetyl-D-glucosaminidase (NAG),β2-MG,gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) were detected.Data were analyzed by SPSS 11.5,including nonparametric rank test,ROC analysis. Results The level of urinary trehalase in control group was normally distributed (7.1 ± 4.1) μmol/h · g Cr (0-25 μmol/h · g Cr).There was no significant difference between men and women (t =0.63,P =0.53).Urinary T levels were significant higher in all kidney disease groups than in control group (Z =6.80,5.90,5.23,6.00,8.04,P <0.01).According to ROC curve, the area of urinary T under the ROC curve (AUC) in 134 patients was 0.9,significantly different with NAG,β2-MG,GGT area (P < 0.01),the AUCs of T were 0.94,0.85,0.90,0.90,0.91 in acute and chronic renal failure group,drug-induced renal impairment group, renal transplantation group and nephritic syndrome group, respectively; Youden index were 0.85,0.65,0.77,0.66,0.72 respectively.Corresponding to the Youden index, sensitivity and specificity were 90.3% and 95.1%,73.3% and 92.1%,85.0% and 92.1%,81.0% and 85.2%,87.5% and 84.2% respectively. Conclusions The Urinary trehalase is better than other markers in the diagnosis of the proximal renal tubular damage. It was better to evaluate the proximal tubular function early in time. The diagnostic value of urinary trehalase played a key role in diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of kidney diseases.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2006;26(7):469-471
OBJECTIVETo observe clinical therapeutic effect of combined acupuncture and moxibustion therapy on polyneuritis.
METHODSOne hundred and sixty cases were treated with combined scalp acupuncture, body acupuncture (stimulating root of nerve as main), cupping and pricking at segmental root of nerve, and electric hot moxibustion, and their therapeutic effects were observed.
RESULTSOne hundred and thirty-eight cases were cured (86.3%) and the total effective rate was 100.0%. The average recovery time for clinical symptoms was 12.81 days, the average recovery time for nervous system signs was 19.76 days, the average recovery time for recovery of ocular muscular dyskinesia was 15.14 days. There was significant therapeutic effect for improvement of simple symptoms, with significant differences when the first and second therapeutic courses compared with that before treatment (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONThe combined acupuncture and moxibustion therapy has a definite therapeutic effect on polyneuritis.
