OBJECTIVETo investigate the prevalence and subtype distribution of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and its correlation with age among women in Beijing urban area, and provide some epidemiological evidence for the clinical application of HPV vaccines.
METHODSWe collected cervical specimens from 1999 women in the Outpatient Department of our hospital, performed genetyping of HPV-DNA, and analyzed the incidence of HPV infection in different age groups.
RESULTSHPV infection was detected in 502 (25.2%) of the 1999 women patients, with 391 (19.6%) cases of high-risk HPV, which included 326 (83.4%, 326/391) cases of single infection. HPV-16 was the most common type (21.2%, 69/326), followed by HPV-52 (19.3%, 63/326) and HPV-58 (16.0%, 52/326). The prevalence of HPV infection was the highest among the women aged 41 -50 years and the lowest among those over 60 years.
CONCLUSIONThe subtype- and age-specific distribution of HPV infection among women in Beijing urban area shows an obvious heterogeneity, which deserves due consideration in the clinical application of HPV vaccines.

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect and mechanism of ribavirin to mice viral myocarditis. Methods Onehundred and twenty mice were randomly divided into 3 groups. Group 1 was normal control group 1 .group 2 CVB3 control group, group 3 ribavirintherapy group. In the latter two groups, 0.2 mL CVB3(10-7.5Tcid5o/mL)was infected into abdominal cavity. Ten mice of each group were killed at the 7 th, 14 th,21 st,28 th day. Mice motality, light and electron microscape, myocardial viral tiler, myocardial pathological score, serum cTnI,malonytdialdehyde(MDA) and cardiac myocyte apoptosis rate(CMAR) were examined.Re-sults The motality, myocardial viral titer, myocardial pathological score,cTnI were lower in group 3(ribavirin therapy group) than in group 2(CVB3 control), and MDA and CMAR were no significant differences between ribavirin group and simple CVB3 group. Conclusion Ribavirin has good treatment effect to mice viral myocardilis, and its mechanism is due to decrease viral titer.

AlM: To analyze personality traits in preoperative patients who undergolaser in situ keratomileusis ( LASlK) and to provide psychological basis for the selection of refractive surgery.
METHODS: Eligible patientswere seeking customized LASlK (group A n=53), conventional LASlK(group B n=75)and non-operation patients with ametropia (group C n=71 ) , who completed 16 personality factor questionnaires (16PF). Statistical analyses were performed with one-way ANOVA by SPSS11. 0 software package.
RESULTS: Compared to group C, patients in group A scored high on dominance and tension levels, and low on emotional stability level(P<0. 05), while patients in group B were more venturesome and more experimenting, but were less vigilant ( P<0. 05 ). Additionally, there were statistical differences between group A and group B on dominance, gallantry and vigilance respectively(P<0. 05). CONCLUSlON: The data indicates that personality profiles of LASlK patients with refractive error influence their decision for correction. Patients need suitable psychological assessment before surgery who actively chose customized LASlK seem to be more assertive and suspicious.

Microbiology 1992;0(05):-
The crude toxin was extracted from hypha and culture solution of Phyllosticta commelimecola through three different polarity solvent: benzinum, puncificatum ethyl acetate and chloroform. The result indicated that the toxin secreted by Phyllosticta commelimecola not only was in hypha but also in culture solution and the extracting effect of ethyl acetate was the best. The soybean median and PSK media can be respectively used as solid and liquid culture media to produce toxin and grow mycelium. The optimal cultural conditions for producing toxin were temperature 32℃,cultured period 14d, cultured ways shaking of 150r/min.

Chinese Journal of Pediatrics 2005;43(12):920-924
OBJECTIVEViral myocarditis (VM) is one of the most common acquired myocardial diseases in children. However, its pathogenesis is not clear. Recent studies indicate that the cytotoxicity mediated by cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) plays an important role in the development of myocardial injury involved in VM. Apoptosis mediated by Fas/FasL pathway is an essential mechanism of target cells damage by CTL. In this study, the authors investigated the regulatory effects of neutralizing anti-Fas ligand (anti-FasL) antibody on apoptosis and caspase-3 expression in experimental coxsackievirus B3 myocarditis and the role of the CTL mediated apoptosis in myocardium through Fas/FasL pathway in the development of VM.
METHODSA total of 80 BALB/c mice were used in the experiments. They were divided randomly into the following groups: normal control group (Gr1), CVB3 control group (Gr2), IgG control group (Gr3) and anti-FasL antibody therapy group (Gr4). The mice in Gr2, Gr3 and Gr4 were inoculated with 0.15 ml of TCID(50) 10(9)/ml coxsackie virus B3 (CVB3) and the mice in Gr1 with 0.15 ml of Eagle reagent. The mice in Gr3 and Gr4 were inoculated with IgG (0.1 mg/kg) and FasL antibody (0.1 mg/kg) on days 0 and days 3 after inoculation (p.i.), respectively. Eight mice in each group were sacrificed on day 10 p.i. Histopathological studies and terminal transferase-mediated dUTP-biotin nick end labeling (TUNEL) assays were used to quantify inflammation, necrosis and apoptosis in myocardium. The expression of active caspase-3 in myocardium was determined by immunohistochemistry. Caspase-3 mRNA and CVB3 mRNA were analyzed by reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).
RESULTS(1) Caspase-3 activation and apoptosis were seen in the myocardium of mice with myocarditis. They had a significantly positive correlation with the changes of myocardial histopathologic scores (r = 0.81, P < 0.05; r = 0.73, P < 0.05). (2) The pathologic scores, average percentages of apoptotic cardiomyocytes, expression of active caspase-3 (protein and mRNA) and expression of CVB3 mRNA in myocardium of mice in Gr4, were significantly reduced compared to those in the myocardium of mice in Gr2 (P < 0.01, P < 0.01, P < 0.01, P < 0.01, and P < 0.05, respectively) and Gr3 (P < 0.01, P < 0.01, P < 0.05, P < 0.01, and P < 0.05, respectively).
CONCLUSIONMyocytic apoptosis is a key mechanism responsible for myocardial damage in viral myocarditis. Anti-FasL antibody can effectively reduce expression of active caspase-3 protein and mRNA, viral replication, cardiomyocytic apoptosis and myocardial injury in the experimental CVB3 myocarditis.
