Objective To evaluate application of quality care in prevention of general surgery wound infection in elderly patients. Methods 116 cases of elderly patients undertook general surgery from October 2013 to October 2014 were selected in alphabetical order by pinyin of last name as the research objects, who were divided into the observation group (58 cases) and control group (58 cases) by lottery. The control group received routine care, the observation group received quality care. The occurrence of wound infection and the hospitalization time were compared. Results The incidence of wound infection of the observation group was 6.9%(4/58), which was lower than that of the control group [24.1%(14/58),χ2=6.576, P<0.05]. The hospitalization time of the observation group was lower than that of control group [(22.6±3.2) d vs.(28.6±3.8) d, t=5.401, P<0.05]. Conclusions Quality care contributes to reduce the incidence of wound infection on general surgery incisions of elderly patients, and promotes the recovery of patients.

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of electroacupuncture (EA) plus long-snake moxibustion for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) due to kidney deficiency and cold coagulation. Methods: A total of 60 patients in active stage of RA were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 30 cases in each group. Patients in the control group took methotrexate tablets and nimesulide dispersible tablets orally for treatment, while those in the observation group received additional treatment of EA plus long-snake moxibustion. Both groups were treated for 12 weeks. The post-treatment changes in symptomatic grading and quantifying score, disease activity score with 28 joint counts (DAS28), and inflammatory indicators erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP) were observed, and the efficacy was evaluated. Results: The total effective rate in the observation group was 89.9％, versus 76.6％ in the control group, and there was a significant difference in the total effective rate between the two groups (P<0.05). After treatment, the symptomatic grading and quantifying score and DAS28 in both groups were significantly improved (all P<0.05), and the improvements in the observation group were more significant than those in the control group (both P<0.05). Besides, there were 11 cases with low disease activity index (DAI) and in remission in the observation group versus 5 cases in the control group, showing a statistically significant between-group difference (P<0.05). The ESR and CRP scores in both groups were significantly reduced after treatment (all P<0.05), also showing statistically significant between-group differences (both P<0.05). Conclusion: The efficacy of additional EA plus long-snake moxibustion based on oral medications for RA due to kidney deficiency and cold coagulation is better than that of the oral medications alone.

Objective To explore the levels of neuron-specific enolase(NSE)in serum and cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) of children with convulsion,and its significance to the diagnosis of neuronal damage was evaluated.Methods Sixty patients were enrolled,and they were divided into 4 groups:non-nervous system disease group,peripheral nervous system disease group,brief convulsion group,and prolonged/status convulsion group.The levels of NSE in serum and CSF were detected in 4 groups,and the electroencephalography(EEG) and computed tomography/magnetic resonance imaging(CT/MRI) examinations were taken to observe the changes in patients with convulsion.Results The levels of NSE in serum and CSF of children with convulsion increased significant,especially in the prolonged/status convulsion group.Changes of NSE levels in serum and CSF were similar.Meanwhile,significant changes were found in EEG between the brief convulsion group and prolonged/status convulsion group;but no significantly changes were found in CT/MRI between the 2 groups.Conclusions NSE detection might be valuable to the diagnosis for neuronal damage in early time.The changes of NSE levels are similar to those in EEG,which are more sensitive than the changes in CT/MRI.It is very important to combine the NSE detection in serum or CSF and EEG examination in early time after convulsion for judgement to the neuronal damage and prognosis.

In recent years, it was found that heart was significantly protected against ischemia-reperfusion injury if it was first preconditioned by brief ischemia or by administering a potassium channel opener. Both of these preconditioning strategies were found to require opening of a K(ATP) channel, we showed that this pivotal role was mediated by the mitochondrial ATP-sensitive K+ channel (mitoK(ATP)). Objective To evaluate the effects of hydrogen peroxide (H 2O 2) on cardiomyocytes and the protective effect of pinacidil preconditioning on injured primary cultured cardiomyocytes. Methods We isolated and cultured cardiomyocytes in neonatal mice by trypsin digestion technique. The cells were inoculated in 96-well culture plate at the density of 1?10 5/ml. Cells were divided into control group and 400, 600, and 800 ?mol/L H 2O 2 treatment groups. MTT assay was used to determine the cell vitality at 1, 3, 6, 12, and 24 h after H 2O 2 treatment. The effects of pinacidil preconditioning were also observed. Results The effect of H 2O 2 on the damages to cardiomyocytes was in dose- and time-dependent manners. Pretreatment with pinacidil at the concentrations of 1?10 -4 , 1?10 -5 , and 1?10 -6 mol/L, particularly 1?10 -6 mol/L, could increase the activity of cardiomyocytes treated with H 2O 2. Conclusion Pinacidil preconditioning at lower doses can protected cardiomyocytes from injuries induced by H 2O 2.

Objective To investigate the correlation between caspase-3 and left ventricular function at different phases after ischemia-reperfusion. Methods Totally 36 wistar rats were randomly divided into Sham operation group and ischemia-reperfusion(IR)group. The rat ischemic cardiac region of IR group was taken after 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24-hour reperfusion followed to 30-minute ischemia and detected for the activity fragment of caspase-3 P20, the activity of caspase-3, myocardial apoptosis index, left ventricular function (LVF) and creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) respectively. Results With reperfusion time prolonging, the activity fragment of caspase-3 P20 increased, the activity of caspase-3, myocardial apoptosis index, left ventricular function and CK-MB all changed. The activity fragment of caspase-3 P20 and CK-MB peaked at 6 h, and the activity of caspase-3 and myocardial apoptosis index at 12 h, and then maintained platform; LVSP and ?dp/dt_max increased while LVEDP decreased gradually with the reperfusion time prolonging.
