Objective Hyperperfusion syndrome is a rare and devastating complication of carotid artery angioplasty and stenting(CAS).We report the clinical character of this complication in a patient undergoing CAS.Methods This report is a retrospective review of one case with severe extracranial carotid stenosis of carotid angioplasty and stenting performed on March,2004.We analysesed the clinical and imagining character of this hyperperfusion syndrome related to CAS. Results The patient with subtotal occlusion of the right internal carotid artery had a 10-mm lesion treated percutaneously with implantation of 2 stents (Precise 6?30mm、10?40mm) under general anesthesia. The stenosis was postdilated with a 5?20mm balloon. Postprocedural angiography showed no significant stenosis, the blood pressure varied between 230~300/100~130mmHg,the heart rate decreased to 55/min. An urgent brain CT revealed extensive hemorrhage with 80ml in the right basal ganglia. Surgical evacuation was performed urgently under general anesthesia. After operation the patient presented with vegetative status. Conclusions Intracerebral hemorrhage is related to cerebral hyperperfusion after CAS.One of risk factors for hyperperfusion syndrome is of severe ipsilateral stenosis of 90% severity or greater with collateral carotid stenosis. Peri-and postintervention TCD monitoring is mandantory, TCD can be identified patients at risk of cerebral hyperperfusion,to decrease postintervention hemorrhage.

Objective To explore the difference in the effect of isoflurane inhalation on long-term cognitive function between male and female rate. Methods Forty-two SD rats (22 female, 20 male) that exhibited normal spontaneous activity and behaved normally in passive avoidance and Morris water maze tests were used in this study. They were divided into 2 sex groups:group female (group F) and group male (group M). Each group was further divided into 2 subgroups: control subgroup (Fc, Mc groups) and isoflurane group (Fs, Ms groups). The animals were anesthetized with 3 % isoflurane in O2 for 2 h in the 2 study subgroups, while the control subgroups inhaled O2 for 2 h. The spontaneous activity test was performed at 1, 30, 60 and 90 d, while the passive avoidance task was performed at 2, 30, 60 and 90 d after isoflurane anesthesia. Morris water maze test was performed for 5 consecutive days at 3-7 d, 31-35 d, 61-65 d, and 91-95 d after isoflurane anesthesia. Results In spontaneous activity test the total distance and the speed were significantly decreased at 1 d after isoflurane anesthesia in both Fs and Ms subgroups as compared with Fc and Mc subgroups. There was no significant difference in the number of error and latency after isoflurane anesthesia compared with the control subgroups in both male and female rats in the passive avoidance task. In Morris water maze test the escape latency and swimming distance were significantly prolonged at 1 and 31 d after isoflurane anesthesia as compared with control subgroup in female rats and at 3-6d, 31-34 d and 61 d after isoflurane anesthesia as compared with control subgroup in male rats, and were significantly longer after isoflurane anesthesia in male than in female rats. Conclusion Two hour 3.0% isoflurane anesthesia can impair long-term cognitive function and the impairment is greater in male than in female rats.

Objective To analyze the control strategy of malsria in Sihong County for the recent 10 years and to evaluate its control effect. Methods The individual questionnaires of cases, the historical data of malaria control and the endemic situation of malaria in Sihong County from 1997 to.2007 were collected and analyzed. Results Two malaria Cases were reported in 2 towns of Sihong County in 1997,and the endemic situation rebounded in 1998 with 21 cases distributed in 12 towns. In 1999,the number of cases who distributed in 16 towns increased to 65.Endemic outbreaks occurred in some districts in 2000 and 2001 when the case number increased to 477 and 488,respectively,and the incidence increased to 4.77 and 7.78 per 10 000 people, respectively. After the comprehensive mesgures with an emphasis on infection source management and vector control were implemented, the incidence decreased to 0.99 per 10 000 people in 2007 and the endemic situation became stable. Conclusions Though the measures of malaria control in Sihong County are effective, surveillance should be strengthened to prevent the endemic situation from rebounding.

Background Fractalkine is involved in the impairment of endothelium by mediating inflammatory cell chemotaxis.Aspirin inhibites many kinds of cytokine expression. Objective To investigate the effect of aspirin on tumor necrosis factor ?(TNF-?) stimulated fractalkine expression in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) and its mechanism. Methods HUVEC were grouped as follows:control group;TNF-?-stimu- lated;TNF-?+NS-398;TNF-?+PDTC and TNF plus various concentration of aspirin (0.02,0.2,1.5 mmol/L). The level of mRNA and protein expression of fractalkine and nuclear factor(NF)-kB p65 was determined by RT- PCR and Western blot. Results 1)Fractalkine mRNA and protein level was increased after 4 ?g/L TNF-? stim- ulation in HUVEC(both P

It had some advantages when microwave induced hyperthermia were used to treat inferior femora and superior shinbone tumor. The device of circulation water, which could induce hypothermia during the treatment procedure needed to be used.Large amount of normal saline at the room temperature was perfused through this device,so the temperature of surrounding normal tissues and organs was reducd and the functions of nerve, vessel and knee were protected. It is safe and convenient measure that keep the operation go on smoothly.Summarized 54 cases of superior shinbone tumor that were used this device in the operation and experienced that it provided an effectiveness support for the operation.

Purpose The regeneration effects of nerve growth factor(NGF)on superior cervical ganglia innewborn mice destroyed by vincristine(VCR)and peroneal nerve of adult rats destroyed by grip were studiedby morphological methods. Methods Superior cervical ganglia. The Qunming newborn mice at 2 dayswere divided into 3 groups: experiment, control and blank. The experiment animals were injected with VCR,10 μl/g of body weight at a concentration of 0.02 mmol/L. Simultaneously, the NGF was injected 2,5,10μg/g of body weight, respectively. But the control animals were only injected with VCR at the same dose. The blank control animals weren' t treated anything. All of these chemicals were injected once a day for 4days. 24h after the last injection, the superior cervical ganglia were dissected out and analyzed their size andmorphology. Peripheral nerve. The peroneal nerve of SD adult rats were destroyed by grip, and divided into2 groups: experiment and control. The experiment rats were injected with NGF 2,4 and 8 μg/kg of bodyweight respectively, near the gripped nerve, once a day for 12 days after 24 h of the injury. 24 h after the lastinjection, the perone al nerve and extensor longus digitorum were dissected out and analyzed their morphologyand counted the number of nerve fiber at proximal and distal injury. Results VCR injection in newbommice produced severe atrophy of superior cervical ganglia. And the neuronal cells apoptosed and decomposed.Simultaneous injections of NGF prevented the noxious effects of VCR, and resulted in an increase intransverse diameter from 61 to 95 percent and the total number of neuronal cells from 59 to 70 percent. Thisimproved degree was related to the dose of NGF. Furthermore, NGF obviously improved the structure of peroneal nerve and extensor longus digitorum. And this effect was the best in the high dosage. ConclusionsNerve growth factor has an obvious regeneration effects in superior cervical ganglia of newborn mice destroyed by VCR and peroneal nerve of rat destroyed by grip.
