Microbiology 1992;0(01):-
To clone the differential genes in antibiotic resistence Neisseria gonorrhoeae, the library that contains the fragments of differential genes between antibiotic resistance strain and standard reference strain of Neisseria gonorrhoeae was constructed which used suppression subtractive hybridization technique. Then the antibiotic resistance relational genes fragments were cloned and analyzed. Antibiotic resistance Neisseria gonorrhoeae subtractive library that has high subtractive efficiency was set up successfully. The amplified library contained 2500 positive clones. Sequence analysis was performed to find the fragments of antibiotic resistance relational genes. Five sequences were unknown previously. The fragments of antibiotic resistance genes may provide an important clue for studying the mechanism of occurrence and development of antibiotic resistance Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1988;29(4):503-507
Specular microscope has been used to examine the corneal endothelium of humans as a function of age. 82 normal eyes of 42 korean, 8 to 65 years of age, were examined with the contact-type specular microscope, and photographs of the central endothelium were obtained. The endothelial photographs were analyzed to determine mean endothelial cell density and the frequency distribution of cell density for each subject. The mean endothelial cell density was 2686 cell/mm2. The correlation coefficient between age and cell count showed that endothelial cell density decreased significantly with increasing age(p<0.01). No appreciable difference in cell density was found between the right and left eyes of the subjects nor between male and female subjects of similar age.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1989;30(4):659-663
The primary Malignant lymphoma of the orbit is a relatiely uncommon condition. The authers experienced a case of primary orbital malignant lymphoma in 59 year old female. The malgnant lymphocytic lymphoma was confirmed by excisional biopsy, and local radiation theraphy was followed. There has been no sign of recurrence at the orbital region and the other sites for postoperative 12 months.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinical characteristics of children with Castleman's disease and to improve doctors' awareness of this disease.
METHODSClinical characteristics of 5 cases with Castleman's disease were observed and analyzed and relevant reports in literature were reviewed.
RESULTS(1) All the five patients' histories were long, and the first symptoms of them were painless lymphnode enlargement, and all of them were at school age; 3 patients' abdominal lymphnodes were enlarged, mediastinum lymphnodes enlarged in 3 cases, cervical lymphnodes were involved in 3 cases; (2) The clinical subtypes: the disease in 3 cases was localized Castleman's disease (LCD), all of their pathological subtype was hyaline vascular variant (HV). The rest of them were multicentric Castleman's disease (MCD), whose pathology was plasma cell variant (PC), and both of them had a febrile symptoms; (3) The white blood cells, C-reactive protein and ferritin levels were all elevated to different extents. Four of them had viral infections, and their cellular immune function was abnormal; (4) The LCD patients' prognosis was good after the complete resection. There is no standard therapy for MCD, the available therapies include antiviral, immune modulatory regimens, CD20 B cell monoclonal antibody and chemotherapy, but the prognosis was worse than that of LCD.
CONCLUSIONSCastleman's disease is rare in children, which can be misdiagnosed because it has no specific manifestations. The prognosis depends on the subtype.

Objective To investigate the water quality and running status of the dringking water improving project in Xuchang,Pingdingshan and Nanyang, thus to provide basis for scientifically evaluating social effects. Methods Stratified sampling was used in the levels of counties and townships and villages, with the number of checked counties greater than or eaquel to half of the projected counties(13/24),the checked townships more than 40 percent of the projected townships(42/102),the checked villages greater than or eaquel to 30% of the projected villages(56/186).We listened their statement, reviewed the documents, examined carefully the water projects before we made the appraisal. Results More than 95%(129/136)of the projects had water quality reports, among which 90%(122/136)were provided by county level centers for disease prevention and control,75% (102/136) of water samples were collected by centers for disease prevention and control,80%(109/136)ofcounties organized an acceptance check-up group,92%(125/136)projects well preserved water source. Conclusions The dringking water improvement projeets in countryside are basically normal in terms of construction and management, the water supplied is qualified,so the expected goal is achieved. However, duties of each department are not explicit and the communication is inadequate,so collaboration should be reinforced.

Journal of the Korean Neurological Association 1989;7(2):389-392
Hypereosinophilic syndrome comprises several disorders with the common features of prolonged eosinophilia of an undetectable cause and organ system dysfunction. It is likely that organ damage is due to infiltration by eosinophils or to eosinophil-derived products. We report a case of hypereosinophilic syndrome with multiple mononeuropathy verified by EMG, nerve conduction study, and biosy..
