2.Social - demographic and behavioral characteristics in men having sex with men in Ho Chi Minh city
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2004;14(4):82-86
A cross-sectional study was conducted in HCM City in April-May 2004 on 600 men who have sex with men (MSMs) in order to identify the risk factors of HIV transmission for elaborating a specific interventions . Results showed that a big group of MSM was constituted with a private service system. In this group, various high risk sex behaviors were practised : in average, sex buyer- 28,9%, sellers-36,5%, anal sex with male partners-2,7% in the last recent months, no more 60% of men using condom in sex relation; in the last 6 months a rather low rate in this group-16,6% using condom in sex relation with normal women, with a very low rate-26,3% often using condom. In this group, there were 1,7% using intravenous drug in the last 12 months

Philippine Journal of Health Research and Development 2019;23(4):12-17
Background and Objectives:
Two of the authors, one heterosexual and one homosexual, both voluntarily donated blood to a well-known health institution in the Philippines. As they were filling out the paperwork, one of the authors' attention was called by one of the questions in the form: “Nakipagtalik ka na ba sa iyong kauri?,” which can be literally translated as “Have you had sex with your own kind?”. This erroneously phrased
question was the sole question interrogated and problematized in the study.
Methodology:
Reviews of Standpoint Theory and the methodology associated with it and, in effect, used in the
study, formed part of the critique, divided into individual narrations and interpretations by each author. A third co-author, a hematologist, lent her insight on the logistics and issues of phlebotomy. Institutional ethnography was brought to bear on the narratives
Results and Conclusion
This three-author collaboration is presented as a claim that an interdisciplinary approach may open new vistas to a phenomenon that has long existed but been ignored. Reviews of Standpoint Theory and curriculum planning for health professionals are recommended.

Journal of the Korean Academy of Family Medicine 2000;21(2):194-202
BACKGROUND: Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) is becoming more prevalent in the world, but there is no definite treatment method and no proved vaccine availabel. Therefore, prevention is the best method to lessen it and blocking it's transmission route is the most effective method. We conducted a survey on the changing trend of knowledge, attitude and perception for AIDS between the year 1993 and 1999 among freshmen of a university. METHOD: The subjects were 2,340 freshmen of a university in Seoul and the study period was one month from Jan. 16 to Feb. 15 1999. The survey had been done with pre-designed questionnaire method which was same to the one in 1993. Total 2,305 cases were analyzed and compared with the results in 1993 excluding 35 cases with insufficient responses. RESULTS: Among the questions about knowledge for AIDS the increasing trend was found in 13 items "AIDS is caused by a virus", "AIDS can be contracted by light kissing with AIDS patient", "AIDS can be contracted by hugging AIDS patient", "AIDS can be contracted by using AIDS patient's belongings", and so on. The decreasing trend was found in items "All homosexuals are apt to get AIDS", "Most of AIDS patients die of the disease", "AIDS patients are easy to contract other diseases", and "AIDS can be contracted by other sexually-transmitted viruses". CONCLUSION: The freshmen entered in 1999 knew the transmission route of AIDS relatively well. They thought that AIDS was not a serious disease but they could get AIDS. The changing trend showed that public education had a considerable effect on students' knowledge and attitude for AIDS.

Korean Journal of Andrology 1999;17(3):177-185
PURPOSE: As there have been few reports on the sexual behavior of Korean women, we investigates female sexual function by self-report measures in both clinical and nonclinical populations. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We distributed 1500 copies of the Brief Index of Sexual Function for Women(BISF-W), a self-report measure of female sexual dysfunction, to both clinical and nonclinical married populations aged 24 to 50 years. The women were asked to answer the 23 questions and return the reports in the self-addressed envelope. Factor analysis was done through three dimensions: sexual interest or desire, sexual activity or frequency, and satisfaction with sexual relationships. Some items measured the ejaculatory latency of the sexual partner and any tendency toward homosexual behavior. RESULTS: Of the BISF-W reports distributed, 623 were returned of which 586 were sufficiently complete for analysis. Subjects were grouped by age at 5-year intervals. Those who had younger partner accounted for 5.2% of the group and those with a partner of the same age for 14.6%. Sexual activity was decreased in women in their 30s and increased in the early 40s. The most active group were those age 25-29, whose average intercourse frequency was 9.2 times during 4 weeks. Orgasmic dysfunction was reported by 7.7% of the series. Factors adversely influencing sexual life were reported by more than 57%, and the most common factor was 'lack of time or intimacy'. Fewer than 30% of the women reported talking actively to their partners about sexual desire. However, satisfaction rate (more than moderate) was as high as 71%. Severe dissatisfaction was highly related to the partner's ejaculatory latency time. The mean ejaculatory time was 11.3 min. A homosexual tendency was revealed by 5.8% of the respondents, and 3.5% reported relationships involving anal sex. CONCLUSIONS: The sexual activities of Korean women are much influenced by lack of time. However, in spite of the low sexual activity, the satisfaction rate was relatively high. A larger study will be needed for investigation of the board range of psychosocial and interpersonal variables.

9.Progress in research on the biological reason of male homosexuality.
Chinese Journal of Medical Genetics 2012;29(2):172-175
Male homosexuality is a complex phenomenon which is universal and with unknown causes. Researchers believe that both biological and environmental factors have played a role in its pathogenesis. Researches focusing on genetics, neurobiology, development and endocrinology have made certain progress. In this paper, we have reviewed the biological causes of male homosexuality, which may provide clues for further research in this field.
