Journal of the Korean Neurological Association 1990;8(1):104-108
Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy(JME) of Janz is a syndrome of generalized age related epilepsy with increasing incidence and probable autosomal recessive trait. We have experienced 2 female patients who had awakening myoclonus in both arms, which had started in their early 10th. The patterns of seirures and electroencephalographic findings were consistent with those of JME which had been first described as impulsive petit mal by Janz. We report these cases with brief review of literatures.

Journal of the Korean Neurological Association 1989;7(2):308-312
The amplitude and latency of visual evoked potentials to pattern-reversal half-field stimulation were measured in 20 normal right-handed subjects to determine whether the individual contribution of right and left cerebral hemispheres is different as related to the generation of pattern-evoked potentials. The amplitude and latency of P1 from a lateral occipital electrode ipsilateral to the halffield stimulation were significantly greater with right half-field wtimulation. The amplitude and latency difference between both sides probably reflects asymmetries of human striate cortex.

3.Policy of national responsibility and dementia care
Journal of the Korean Medical Association 2018;61(5):309-313
Korea is becoming an aged society at an alarmingly fast rate, which suggests that dementia care may become a major public health problem in Korea. At this point in time, the new policy of national responsibility for dementia care is a well-timed strategy, but it should be assessed based on a careful consideration of several aspects. We must promote a model of dementia care in which all members of society jointly participate. We need to improve the volunteer system in dementia care, and to make various cultural spaces for patients suffering from dementia and their family members. We need to balance financial resources and benefits in cost-reduction plans for dementia treatment. We should implement a careful quality control system for dementia care and educational programs for public dementia care hospitals and nationwide regional dementia centers. These care systems should also incorporate a health policy aiming at primary prevention to reduce the prevalence of dementia in the future. Improving the new policy of national responsibility for dementia care using detailed analyses and systematic approaches will lead to a successful dementia welfare policy.

Journal of Korean Physical Therapy 2019;31(4):216-221
PURPOSE: This study examined the effect of visual feedback squat on the core muscle thickness of young adults experiencing back pain. METHODS: Thirty adult men and women who experienced back pain were assigned randomly to 15 members of the visual feedback squat group (VSG) and 15 of the normal squat group (NSG) to train three times a week for a total of eight weeks. The core muscle thickness was compared prior to the test for four weeks and eight weeks after the test by dividing it into warm-up exercise, main exercise, and 10 minutes finishing exercise. Before, and four weeks and eight weeks later, the thickness of the core muscle was compared using an ultrasonic imaging system. Repeated measured ANOVA was performed to compare the groups, and a Bonferroni test was performed as a post-hoc test to assess the significance of the timing of the measurements in each group according to the periods. An independent t-test was conducted to test the significance between the groups according to the measurement points. RESULTS: A significant change in the main effects of time and interactions of the time difference in muscle thickness of transvers abdominis were observed between the visual feedback squat and control groups according to the measurement point (p<0.05). No significant difference in the muscle thickness of both muscles was observed between the groups with the exception of the right abdominis (p>0.05). CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that visual feedback squat exercise is expected to have positive effects on the development of transverse abdominis in core muscles.

7.Comparison of food involvement scale (FIS) and use intention for block type sauce between US and Japanese consumers.

Journal of Nutrition and Health 2018;51(6):590-598
PURPOSE: This study was conducted to compare the food involvement scale (FIS) of American and Japanese consumers. In addition, the effects of familiarity, likability, and expectations on willingness to use intentions for block type sauce by nationality were evaluated. METHODS: A total of 149 and 112 American and Japanese consumers, respectively, completed the survey. Consumers were asked about familiarity, likability, expectation, willing to use intention, and usage frequency of block type sauce, food involvement scale (FIS), and demographic information. RESULTS: There were differences in the using frequency of block type sauce according to nationality, with consumers in Japan showing significantly higher frequency of using block type sauce than those in the United States (US) (p < 0.001). According to the FIS, US consumers were more focused on how to provide food than food, such as cooking process, table setting, and food shopping, compared to Japanese consumers. In addition, ‘expectation’ and ‘likability’ among US consumers and ‘expectation’ and ‘familiarity’ among Japanese consumers were positive attributes for willing to use intention (p < 0.01). CONCLUSION: In the case of the US consumers, ‘familiarity’ was not significant because the using frequency of the block type sauce was lower than that of Japanese consumers. In the case of the Japanese consumers, ‘likability’ was not significant because they enjoy cooking itself according to the FIS. Therefore, it is necessary to recognize positive attributes as a key factor for block type sauce, as well as to search for ways to apply marketing strategies based on attributes by nationality.

8.The Effect of Physical Therapist’s Expertise and Interactivity on Revisit Intention Based on Trust
Gyeongseop SIM ; Hojin SHIN ; Donghoon KIM
Journal of Korean Physical Therapy 2023;35(3):77-82
Purpose:
This study aimed to examine how the expertise and interactivity of a physical therapist impact a patient’s intention to revisit a hospital based on trust.
Methods:
We surveyed 274 patients who received physical therapy in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province to assess their reliability and revisit intentions based on their expertise and interactivity. SPSS 22.0 was used for frequency analysis and reliability verification, while AMOS 18.0 was used for confirmatory factor analysis and model verification.
Results:
Physical therapist interactivity significantly impacted patients’ intentions to revisit based on trust. The physical therapist’s expertise had a significant effect on trust but did not demonstrate a significant effect on the intention to revisit.
Conclusion
The interactivity of physical therapists has an important effect on patients’ intentions to revisit a hospital based on trust. Although therapist-centered expertise can generate trust in patients, it positively affects the intention to revisit the hospital. Therefore, it is suggested that physical therapists’ patient-centered expertise and interactivity build patients’ trust and are important for revisiting intention.

Journal of the Korean Neurological Association 2022;40(3):243-246
Cytotoxic lesions of the corpus callosum (CLOCC) are secondary lesions on corpus callosum caused by cytokinopathy of callosal neurons and microglia. Fever, headache, and digestive disturbances are common symptoms. Reversible and hyperintense signals on fluid‐attenuated inversion recovery imaging, diffusion‐weighted imaging (DWI) and decreased apparent diffusion coefficient are typical features of magnetic resonance imaging. Herein, we report a rare case of CLOCC caused by COVID19 vaccination (BNT162b) and discharged without no neurologic symptoms due to prompt treatment.

Journal of the Korean Neurological Association 1990;8(1):145-150
Paraplegia following intrathecal methotrexate(MTX) instillation is a rare complication and 18 cases have been reported in the literature. It has not been reported m Korea. We recenty experienced a 56 year-old female with quadriplegia following intrathecal MTX instillation. So we report a case of paraplegia following intrathecal MTX instillation with review of the literature.
