Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2012;(35):4-8
Objective To explore the prognosis impact of lymph nodes metastasis in pancreatic cancer. Methods The clinical data of 61 patients with pancreatic cancer who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy from January 2004 to September 2011 were analyzed retrospectively.Patients were categorized into different groups by lymph nodes metastasis status, count of positive lymph nodes, location of positive lymph nodes, lymph nodes ratio (LNR) and other factors.Kaplan-Meier,log-rank and COX proportional hazard models were used to evaluate the prognostic effect. Results Median survival for the overall 61 patients was 13 months (95% CI 9.158-16.842),with 6 months,1 year,3 years,5 years survival rates of 84.6%,47.7%,14.3% and 9.1% respectively.Univariate analysis showed:the median survival of patients with and without lymph nodes metastasis had statistical significant outcome (P < 0.01).Patients within the first station lymph nodes metastasis had a better outcome than those lymph nodes metastasis beyond the first station (P <0.05).Patients with LNR ≤0.2 had better prognosis than those LNR > 0.2 (P < 0.01).The number of lymph nodes examined had no effect on overall survival in either nodes-positive patients or nodes-negative patients (P > 0.05).The count of positive lymph nodes did not affect the prognosis in the pN1 patients (P> 0.05).Multivariate analysis showed:location of positive lymph nodes and LNR were independent predictors of the prognosis in the pN1 patients. Conclusions Lymph nodes metastasis status has significant effect on the prognosis of the pancreatic cancer.Location of positive lymph nodes and LNR are independent predictors of the prognosis in the pN1 patients. The number of lymph nodes examined and the number of positive lymph nodes have no effect on the prognosis of the pancreatic cancer.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the efficacy, advantages and disadvantages of internal and external elbow joint approach and olecranon osteotomy approach for the treatment of intercondylar fracture of humerus.
METHODSFrom October 2012 to May 2016, 18 cases of intercondylar fracture of humerus were treated by operation including 12 males and 6 females with a mean age of 33.5 years old (ranged from 4 to 56 years old); 8 cases were operated by internal and external elbow joint approach, 10 cases were operated by olecranon osteotomy approach. According to AO classification, 3 cases were type C1, 8 cases were type C2, 7 cases were type C3. All patients were excluded from neurologic and vascular injuries.
RESULTSAll patients were followed up from 12 to 26 months with an average of 15 months. The incision healed well and no heterotopic ossification was found. According to the modified Cassebaum elbow function score, the result was excellence in 14 cases, good in 3 cases, fair in 1 case.
CONCLUSIONSAccording to the fracture type, the appropriate surgical approach and fixation were selected in order to get anatomic reduction. Rigid fixation, and early functional exercise is important condition for successful operation and satisfactory functional recovery in intercondylar fracture of the humerus.

BACKGROUND:Osteopontin mRNA and protein expressions are highly correlated with the severity of osteoarthritis. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of osteopontin on the gene expression of aggrecan and type II colagen in the human knee osteoarthritic chondrocytes in vitro. METHODS: Chondrocytes were harvested from human osteoarthritic knees and culturedin vitro. The chondrocytes were cultured with 0 (blank control group), 0.1, 1 mg/L osteopontin, respectively, for 48 hours. Real-time PCR was employed to detect the mRNA expression of aggrecan and type II colagen. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After 0.1 and 1 mg/L osteopontin intervention, the mRNA expression of aggrecan and type II colagen in osteoarthritic chondrocytes was increased significantly (P< 0.05), and the mRNA expression of aggrecan and type II colagen was higher in the 1 mg/L osteopontin group than the 0.1 mg/L osteopontin group (P< 0.05). In addition, the mRNA expression of aggrecan and type II colagen was positively correlated with the concentration of osteopontin (r=0.751,P < 0.01;r=0.676,P < 0.01). These findings indicate that osteopontin up-regulates the mRNA expression of aggrecan and type II colagen in osteoarthritic chondrocytes of human kneein vitro in a dose-dependent manner.

Chinese Journal of Virology 2016;32(1):56-61
A simple and sensitive assay for rapid detection of human coronavirus NL63 (HCoV-NL63) was developed by colorimetic reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP). The method employed six specially designed primers that recognized eight distinct regions of the HCoV-NL63 nucleocapsid protein gene for amplification of target sequences under isothermal conditions at 63 degrees C for 1 h Amplification of RT-LAMP was monitored by addition of calcein before amplification. A positive reaction was confirmed by change from light-brown to yellow-green under visual detection. Specificity of the RT-LAMP assay was validated by cross-reaction with different human coronaviruses, norovirus, influenza A virus, and influenza B virus. Sensitivity was evaluated by serial dilution of HCoV-NL63 RNA from 1.6 x 10(9) to 1.6 x 10(1) per reaction. The RT-LAMP assay could achieve 1,600 RNA copies per reaction with high specificity. Hence, our colorimetric RT-LAMP assay could be used for rapid detection of human coronavirus NL63.
