Objective To evaluate the efficacy of fiberoptic bronchoscope (FOB)-guided tracheal intubation with laryngeal mask airway i-gel (LMA i-gel) in patients undergoing cervical spine surgery. Methods Forty ASA Ⅰ or Ⅱ patients, aged 36-62 yr, weighing 57-78 kg, scheduled for cervical spine surgery under general anesthesia, were randomly divided into 2 groups (n = 20 each): FOB-guided tracheal intubation with oropharynx ventilation tube group (group O) and FOB-guided tracheal intubation with LMA i-gel (group I). Anesthesia was induced with midazolam 0.05 mg/kg, propofol 2 mg/kg, fentanyl 2-3 μg/kg and rocuronium 0.9 mg/kg. The intubation time, fiberoptic bronchoscope score, the number of successful intubation, hypertension, tachycardia and hypoxemia were recorded. All the patients were followed up postoperatively for adverse effects like sore throat or hoarseness, etc. Results The rate of successful LMA i-gel placement at first attempt was 100%, placement time was (10 + 3) s, and the rate of successful intubation in the two groups was 100%. The intubation time was significantly shorter, the rate of successful intubation at first attempt and fiberoptic bronchoscope score were significantly higher in group I than in group O (P < 0.05). Hypertension, tachycardia and hypoxemia were not found in the two groups. There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse effects between the two groups (P >0.05). Conclusion FOB-guided tracheal intubation with LMA i-gel can provide adequate ventilation during operation, improve the success rate of FOB-guided intubation and shorten the intubation time in patients undergoing cervical spine surgery.

Objective To understand whether or not artesunate (Art. ) combined with naphtho-quine (Nap. ) can delay the resistance of Plasmodium falciparum to Art. Methods In Group A, P. falciparum was cultured in culture medium and was stimulated by Art/Nap disconnectedly, and in Group B, stimulated by Art disconnectedly. When P. falciparum recovered to normal growth level, the changes of sensitivity (ID50) to the drugs were compared between the two groups after P. falciparum touched on the drug. Results In Group A, the times P. falciparum recovered to normal growth level were 24, 37 d respectively when it contacted the drugs in the first and second times; P. falciparum didn't recover to normal growth level in 90 d when it contacted the drugs in the third time. In Group B, the times P. falciparum recovered to normal growth level were 16. 7 d (15-20) on average. ID50(s) of Art/Nap were 2.42/37.81, 1. 70/26.30 nmol/L before and 65 d after contacting the drugs in Group A; ID50(s) of Art were 9. 60, 30. 61, 85.12 nmol/L before and 68 and 129 d after contacting the drug in Group B. Conclusion Artesunate-resistant P. falciparum can be cultured by touching artesunate at intervals in vitro; Artesunate combined with naph-thoquine may delay the resistance of P. falciparum to artesunate in vitro.

Objective To introduce the application of the network training on clinicians'knowledge of malaria diagnosis and treatment in Yunnan Province, and evaluate its effect. Methods Through the platform Yiboshi(www.yiboshi.com),the medi-cal and health personnel at the units of provincial, prefectural, county levels and 25 townships of 25 border counties were trained on the knowledge of malaria diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control, and the effects were evaluated by examina-tions,questionnaires and interviews. Results Totally 7152 participants were trained, the average participation, completion and pass rates of the training were 95.26%,98.55% and 97.30%,respectively. The trainees mainly learned malaria control knowledge from 3 aspects, namely policy of malaria elimination, malaria epidemiology, malaria diagnosis and treatment. The questionnaires showed that 95.94%of the participants considered that their theoretical and technical levels improved,97.30%were interested in the training content,93.24% recognized the arrangement of the training time was reasonable, and 91.89%were satisfied with the service of the platform. Conclusions The network training on knowledge of malaria diagnosis and treat-ment in Yunnan Province has achieved good effect. The network training meets the need of training a large number of clinicians in the malaria elimination and post-elimination stage.

Anti-contactin associated protein-like 2 (CASPR2) antibody encephalitis is a rare autoimmune encephalitis with variable clinical symptoms and atypical imaging manifestations. The prognosis of the patients with severe disease is poor. Reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome is rarely reported in autoimmune encephalitis. The clinical data, diagnosis and treatment of a patient with anti-CASPR2 antibody encephalitis complicated with reversible posterior encephalopathy syndrome were reported, in order to improve the understanding of clinicians on the rare disease complicated with atypical imaging manifestations.

In recent years, selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) have been widely used in many fields such as nanotechnology, biomedicine and environmental remediation due to their good electrical conductivity, photothermal properties and anticancer properties. In this study, the cell-free supernatant, whole cell and the cell-free extracts of the strain Cupriavidus sp. SHE were used to synthesize SeNPs, and several methods were applied to analyze the crystal structure and surface functional groups of the nanoparticles. Finally, Pseudomonas sp. PI1 (G⁺) and Escherichia coli BL21 (G⁻) were selected to investigate the antibacterial properties of SeNPs. Cell-free supernatant, whole cell and cell-free extracts of the strain could synthesize SeNPs. As for the cell-free supernatant, selenite concentration of 5 mmol/L and pH=7 were favorable for the synthesis of SeNPs. TEM images show that the average size of nanospheres synthesized by the supernatant was 196 nm. XRD analysis indicates the hexagonal crystals structure of SeNPs. FTIR and SDS-PAGE confirmed the proteins bound to the surfaces of SeNPs. SeNPs synthesized by cell-free supernatant showed no antimicrobial activities against Pseudomonas sp. PI1 and Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3). These results suggest that proteins played an important role in biotransformation of SeNPs in an eco-friendly process, and SeNPs synthesized in this study were non-toxic and biologically compatible, which might be applied in other fields in the future.
