ObjectiveTo study the differential expression of signal transduction related gene between the tunica media in human abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) and normal aorta, and inspect their role in the etiology of abdominal aortic aneurysms.MethodsGene chip technique was applied to study the differential expression of signal transduction related gene in human AAA, then screening some significant differential expressed genes for further research by RT-PCR, Western Blot, and immunohistochemistry.ResultsForty-five differentially expressed genes related to cellular signal transduction were detected accounting for 1.09% of the chip′s total 4?096 genes, among them 28 genes were up-regulated and 17 down-regulated in aortic aneurysm. ASK1, ERK1 gene were found up-requlated in aortic aneurysm.ConclusionsDifferential expression of signal transduction gene could play a key role in the occurrence of AAA.

Objective To investigate the alterations and molecular mechanism of neural cell apoptosis after frontal lobe sharp injury in infant rats. Methods Brain damage was induced by frontal lobe sharp injury.dUTP nick end labeling(TUNEL) method was used to detect cell apoptosis after brain injury, and immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of Bax,Bcl-2 proteins in and around the area of injury, respectively. Results The apoptosis cells were found as early as 1 hour and reached a peak at 24 hours post-injury,then gradually diminished until 120 hours when only few apoptosis cells presented. The expression of Bax and Bcl-2 proteins increased significantly 1 hour after frontal lobe injury.Bax protein reached its peak at 12 hours while Bcl-2 protein reached its peak at 1 hour post-injury.The ratio of Bax to Bcl-2 increased after lesion with peak at 24 hours, and then decreased thereafter. At 120 hours, very weak expression of Bax and Bcl-2 protein detected. There were few Bax and Bcl-2 positive cells in frontal lobe cortex in blank control and sham operation group. Conclusions Cell apoptosis exists after frontal lobe sharp injury in infant rats and the change of the number of apoptotic cells is correlated with time course of post-injury.The ratio of Bax to Bcl-2 may play a vital role in cell apoptosis.

Objective To study the differential expression of cell adhesion molecule(CAM) genes in the pathegenesis of AAA. Methods Microarray technique was applied to screen for the differential expression of CAM genes between AAA and normal aortic tissues. Results Three differentially expressed CAM genes were found in AAAs by microarray technique and molecular biology investigation, including VCAM 1, PECAM 1, TSP,with up regulating ratio of 5 683,3 601,57 406,respectively.Conclusion These abnormally up regulated CAM genes found in AAA might participate in the development of abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Objective To investigate the expression of type Ⅲ collagen in abdominal aortic aneurysm tissues and normal aortic tissues. Methods RT PCR and immunohistochemistry were applied to detect the expression of type Ⅲ collagen in abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) tissues( n =5) and normal aortic (NA) tissues( n =3) . Results Expression of type Ⅲ collagen was increased in AAA group compared with normal group with AAA/NA= 7 251( P

Backgroud and Objective Proline-rich tyrosine kinase2(Pyk2) is a Ca~(2+) sensitive,non-receptor tyrosine protein kinase.Previous reports showed Pyk2 involved in development of left ventrieular hypertrophy. The present paper aimed to study the effects of valsartan on ventricular hypertrophy and its effect on the expression of Pyk2 in myocardium in renovascular hypertensive rats(RHR).Methods Two-kidney and one-clip(2K1C) renal hypertensive model was established in Sprague-Dawley rats by chronic partial occlusion of left renal artery, and ran- domized to receive valsartan (30 mg/kg?d) or without treatment for 4 or 8 weeks.Left ventricular mass to body mass ratio was measured.Pyk2 protein expression and phosphorylation was detected by Western blotting. Results Blood pressure, left ventricular mass to body mass ratio,Pyk2 activity in myocardium of RHR were increased gradu- ally.Valsartan reduced BP and prevent myocardial hypertrophy(P

Objective To discuss the value of moving darkroom and accompanying X-rays protective shield in endemic fluorosis areas. Methods Using moving and fixed darkrooms, the X-rays photos of the forearms and shanks of the 320 persons were developed in the endemic fluorosis areas, while the time for development and installing-uninstalling films was documented. The films develpoed in the darkroom were evaluated for the quality. Results Among the 320 films develpoed in the moving darkroom, the 268 had fingerprints,47 had scratches,298 were in good quality(93.13%),while in the fixed darkroom, the figure was correspondingly 735,384,227(70.93%);The moving darkroom increased excellent film rate significantly than fixed darkroom(χ2=53.43,P<0.01),The detectable rate of skelelal fluorosis and degree Ⅰ skelelal fluorosis were highter than that in the fixed darkroom did (χ2=10.34,χ2=9.56,P<0.01).Conclusions The films developed in moving darkroom have superior quality and higher diagnostic value,so it is important to use moving X-rays photographing in ecdemic fluorosis areas.

OBJECTIVETo study the prevalence of child-bearing age women with reproductive tract infection (RTI) and related risk factors in the rural area of Shandong so as to develop measurements on prevention.
METHODSFour communities were randomly selected based on economic levels and a baseline investigation on RTI was carried out.
RESULTSA total prevalence rate of RTI was 47.57% with breakdown for four communities-Zhucheng, Zhangqiu, Daiyue and Wudi as 53.91%, 41.49%, 48.37%, 44.88% respectively. Nearly 60% of women at child-bearing age were ignorant on sexually transmitted diseases (STD). Risk factors of RTI would include incorrect perineum cleanout, bad habit of sexual intercourse and low education level of the husbands.
CONCLUSIONHigh prevalence of RTI was associated with low level of education, lack of awareness on STD related hygiene and low rate of seeing doctor for RTI disorder in those women. The results of this study would benefit to the development of intervention measurement of RTI.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2015;40(5):522-527
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the safety and efficacy of "chimney graft" technique during thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair (TEVAR) in aortic arch lesions.
METHODS:
Th e methods, results and the incidence of complications in 25 patients, who received "chimney stent" therapy for aortic arch disease, were reviewed and analyzed.
RESULTS:
From August, 2010 to August, 2014, 25 aortic arch lesions were treated by TEVAR with "chimney stent", 18 patients were male and 7 were female. The average age was 38-78(65±5.8) years old. Five patients received "chimney stents" for left common carotid artery, while 20 patients received "chimney stent" for left subclavian artery. Three cases showed small amount of Type I leak under immediate postoperative angiography without treatment. The leak was disappeared 1month later. Two patients appeared left upper limb weakness and one of them showed dizzinesss simultaneously. Both of them recovered gradually in follow-up process. Th ere was no limb ischemia or necrosis. Th e locations of aortic and "chimney stent" were stable without any migration and leak complications.
CONCLUSION
"Chimney graft" technique is a safe and effective treatment for aortic arch lesions due to lack of proximal anchoring zone. The follow up results in a short-term is satisfied.
