1.Protective effects of L-Carnitine on the kidney damage induced by cisplatin in rats
Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition 1997;0(01):-
Objective: To study the protective effects of L-Carnitine(LC) against the kidney damage induced by cisplatin(DDP).Methods: 36 Female adult Wistar rats were randomly divided into Control group,DDP group and LC+DDP group.Control group and DDP group were fed a basic diet, while LC+DDP group were added 1%LC.After 7 days,DDP group and LC+DDP group received cisplatin i.p.(5 mg/kg body weight),while Control group received normal saline i.p.After 4 days, rats were killed, the change of serum Cr and BUN,and tissue MDA and GSH in kidney were measured and the kidney structure was also observed. Results: Compared with DDP group, the contents of serum Cr、BUN and kidney tissue MDA of LC+DDP group declined very significantly, while the contents of kidney tissue GSH increased significantly. The pathological slice indicated that the renal structure of LC+DDP group was significantly improved. Conclusion: Dietary supplementation with LC might protect kidney against the damage induced by cisplatin in some extent, which might be partially correlative with the antioxidative effects of LC.

3.Progress in the safety of chimeric antigen receptor T cells therapy
Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2021;30(2):65-67
Chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR-T) therapy is progressing rapidly, and its safety has been widely concerned. At the 62nd American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting, a series of reports on the mechanism, predictive indicators and treatment strategies of major adverse reactions were carried out. These reports have certain guiding significance for comprehensively improving the safety of CAR-T therapy.

AIM: To investigate the role of adrenomedullin (AM) in diabetic nephropathy. METHODS: We observed the changes in the expression and secretion of AM, TGF-? 1 in the cultured human mesangial cells under high glucose condition and the contents of the laminin and type IV collagen in the supernatants. The effect of intervention with AM was also observed. RESULTS: High glucose condition resulted in increase in the expression and secretion of AM TGF-? 1 laminin and type IV collagen. AM reversed the influence of high glucose on the cultured human mesangial cells. CONCLUSION: These results showed that high glucose condition is one of stimulating factors of AM and the renal protective action of AM may be associated with suppression of TGF-? 1 and reducing excessive accumulation of laminin and type IV collagen.

Objective To assess the effect of chloramine disinfection on the formation of drinking water disinfection by-products(DBPs )and their mutagenicity. Methods The bacterial indices, chloroform and carbon tetrachloride content in the finished water samples using liquid chlorine and chloramine disinfection respectively were determined in August,2001(plentiful water season)and in March,2002(low water season). The mutagenicities of organic extracts from the water samples were tested using Ames test. The levels of DBPs and the mutagenic activities of water samples treated with different disinfection methods were compared. Results The total count of bateria and coliform bacteria were0/ml and0/L respectively at free chlorine con-centration of about 1mg /L in the chloraminated drinking water, which decreased81%-84%compared with those of the chlori-nated drinking water samples. The carbon tetrachloride concetration were all

[Objective]To investagate the anatomic features in the approach to the brachial plexus in neck in order to make the exposure of brachial plexus more convenience and safer.[Method]Neck of six embalmed adult cadavers were made serial sectional specimens, which was observed to identify the border, composition and anatomic relation of fat layer between the superficial and deep layer of cervical fascia in the posterior triangle of neck with the brachial plexus.[Result]There was no branches of superficial cervical plexus in the fat layer between the superficial layer and deep layer of cervical fascia below the middle neck,in which there was no important structures except omohyoid muscle and transverse cervical artery. The deep layer of cervical fascia was dense and was directly superficial to the brachial plexus.[Conclusion]Exposure of brachial plexus in the neck would be more safe and convenience upon the understanding of anatomic relatiowship between cervical fascia and brachial plexus.

Objective To identify new serum biomarkers of lung adenocarcinoma. Methods Serum samples from 31 patients with lung adenocarcinoma and 31 healthy individuals were applied to SAX-2 protein chips to generate proteomic spectra by surface-enhanced laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry(SELDI-TOF-MS).The spectra were analyzed with Ciphergen Biosystems software and biomarker patterns software. Results The software identified 102 peaks and m/z 14 022.9 and 3 735.99 were used to construct the classification tree. The classification tree separated adenocarcinoma of lung effectively from healthy individuals, achieving a validity of 100%.The blind test challenged the model with a sensitivity of 100%and a specificity of 100%.Conclusions The results suggest that SELDI-TOF-MS technique can distinguish lung adenocarcinoma patients from healthy individuals and shows great potential for the development of a screening test for the detection of lung cancer.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the positive rate of ?-lactamase,oprD2,aminoglycosides modifying enzyme and qacE△1 gene among clinical isolated strains of multi-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa in our hospital.METHODS P.aeruginosa was determined by VITEK,and MIC was determined by agar dilution method.TEM,IMP,VIM,oprD2,aac(3)-Ⅱ,aac(6′)-Ⅰ,aac(6″)-Ⅱ,ant(3″)-Ⅰ,ant(2″)Ⅰ and qacE△1 in strains were detected by polymerase chain reaction(PCR).RESULTS The positive rate of TEM,aac(3)Ⅱ,aac(6′)-Ⅱ,ant(3″)-Ⅰ and ant(2″)-Ⅰ in multi-resistant P.aeruginosa were 51.4%,48.6%,40.0%,54.3%,45.7% and 60.0%,respectively.No IMP and VIM genes were detected.CONCLUSIONS Positive rate of ?-lactamase, aminoglycosides modifying enzyme is high in 35 tested strains, and that should be paid more attention.

Objective To evaluate the home-made occluder in the treatment of VSD and its mid-term and long-term results. Methods From Jan. 2004 to May 2007, percutaneous VSD closure therapy under X-ray monitoring was performed in 78 consecutive VSDpatients, including 43 males and 35 females with an average age of (16.5±8.6) years (ranged 3-37 years). TTE, ECG and Holter examinations were performed in 1 week, 3 months, 1 year and 2 years after the procedure. Results Seventy-three home-made occluder devices with a diameter of 5-16 mm (10.3±3.2 mm) were implanted successfully, with a technical successful rate of 93.6% (73/78). The whole course follow-up were carried out in all 73 successful cases (100%). One week after the procedure ITE detected residual shunt in 8 cases, and three months later the residual shunt was observed in 5 cases. Follow-up check at one and two years after the treatment the residual shunt disappeared completely. For the observation of arrhythmia, occasional atrial premature beats or ventricular premature beats occurred in 28 cases (38.4%) within one week after the procedure, and two patients developed grade Ⅲ complete atrioventricular block at the third day after the surgery. The arrhythmia disappeared after medication of prednisone and nutrient drugs for 4-10 days. Bundle branch blocks were observed in 8 cases (10.1%) at one-year and two-year follow-up. Conclusion For the treatment of VSD, the home-made Amplatzer occluder device is reliable and effective, although a close foUow-up is required after the surgery.
