Journal of Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing 2013;24(3):273-281
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine gender differences in effects of self-efficacy, exercise benefits and barriers, and demographic factors on the physical activity. METHODS: Seventy sedentary office workers, 35 male and 35 female, from a major airline company, completed a questionnaire from March 28 to April 5, 2012. Steps and body mass indices were measured using a CW-700/701 (Yamax) pedometer and Inbody 720 (Biospace), respectively. Data were analyzed using t-test, chi2-test, multiple linear regression, and simultaneous quantile regression. RESULTS: For male workers, exercise self-efficacy had a significant effect on physical activity, but only when respondents were at 10%(3,431 steps/day, p=.018) and 25%(4,652 steps/day, p=.044) of the physical activity distribution. For female workers, marital status was significantly related to physical activity, but only when respondents were at 10% (3,537 steps/day, p=.013) and 25%(3,862 steps/day, p=.014) of the physical activity distribution. CONCLUSION: Quantile regression highlights the heterogeneous effect of physical activity determinants among office workers. Therefore intervention strategies for increasing physical activity should be tailed to genders as well as physical activity levels.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1982;18(1):35-44
The determination of the degree and ability of recovery of obstructive hydronephrosis is important in treatment and prediction of prognosis. Among the various methods in determination of the status of kidney, intravenous pyelography is the most important tool to evaluate the morphological and functional changes of kidney in vivo. The purpose of this experiment was the determination of process and recoverability of hydronephrosis depend on duration of unilateral uretreal obstruction. For the experiment, 32 rats were divided into 2 groups; the first group of 12 rats were used to determine the process of hydronephrosis during 1 to 4 weeks of unilateralureteral ligation and the second group of 20 rats were used to determine the recoverability of hydronephrotic kidney depend on same duration of ureteral ligation following relief of ligation. Intravenous pyelography as undertaken and renal angiography, gross and microscopic examination were added. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. Kidney enlargement and pelvic dilatation were progressively increased with a relation to duration of ureteral obstruction until 4 weeks. 2. Renal excretory function is not impaired until 3 weeks obstruction, but rapidly impaired to nonfunctioning in 4 weeks obstruction. 3. Renal recovery was possible following relief of ureteral ligation within 3 weeks of ureteral obstruction, but histopathological and functional recovery were impossible in 4 weeks of ureteral ligation. 4. There is no direct correlation between duration of obstruction and recoverability following relief within 3 weeks of uretral obstruction. 5. Intravenous pyelographyis a simple and accurate method to determine the degree of obstructive hydronephrosis and to evaluate morphological and functional recovery of kidney following relief of obstruction.

Five cases of ovarian serous borderline tumor associated with multiple peritoneal implants were analysed. The age of 5 patients ranged from 34 to 45(mean: 39) years at the time of diagnosis. Two patients presented with secondary infertility underwent hyperstimulation of the ovary under the in vitro fertilization program. One patient was presented with abdominal pain and the remaining two with lower abdominal mass accompanied by abdominal pain. Serous surface papilloma of borderline malignancy, involving one or both ovaries, was present in all 5 cases and papillary serous cystic tumor of borderline malignancy was associated simultaneously in one or both ovaries in all cases. Marked adhesions between the pelvic organs, and multiple granularities and nodularities of the omentum and peritoneum were noted. Microscopically, the peritoneal lesions were composed of noninvasive implants of tumor cells and pasmmoma bodies on the surface of entire pelvic and abdominal organs. Flow cytometric analysis of nuclear DNA content from paraffin-embedded tissue fo primary ovarian tumor classified as aneuploidy in 3 cases and as diploidy in 2 cases. The DNA index of the aneuploid tumors ranged from 1.21 to 1.37. Four patients underwent hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and partial omentectomy in which two were followed by chemotherapy and one case underwent bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy.

We reviewed the computed tomography (CT) of 32 patients with upper lobe collapse to assess the significance of small atypically redistributed pleural effusion (ARPE) in distinguishing the bronchogenic carcinoma (BC) form tuberculosis (TB). Upper lobe collapse was caused by BC in 21 and by TB in 11 of the 32 patients. Small ARPE was Present in 14 of 21 patients with BC and two of the 11 patients with TB, Among 16 patients with small ARPE, CT showd mediastinal invasion in 11 (69%) patients and mediastinal lymphadenopathyn 6 (38%). Our results suggest that small ARPE associated with upper lobe collapse can be used a an auxiliary sign in the differential diagnosis between BC and TB.

Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine 1986;3(1):229-235
Lithium salts are being used increasingly to treat patient with affective disorders, especially acute mania, or bipolar manic-depressive illness. For therapeutic effect the lithium content must be maintained at or above a particular level. Lithium poisoning due to overdosage may be seen occasionally, and its course is determined primarily by the rate of renal lithium elimination. A search is therefore indicated for procedures that could raise the lithium clearance. In a number of reports renal lithium excretion has been studied in relation to the excretion of water, sodium, potassium and hydrogen, but effects of sodium or water on the lithium excretion has not yet been clarified. Hence the present study was undertaken to investigate the effects of corticosteroid on the excretion of lithium ion. The female rat (Sprague-Dowley), weighing from 200 to 300g, was injected with 50mg/kg of lithium chloride intraperitoneally, and then injected with graded dosage of fludrocortisones and dexamethasone in each group. During the injected rats were incubated in metabolic cage, 24 hour urine of rats were collected. At 24 hours after injection, the rats were sacrificed with guillotine, the blood were collected. And then the concentrations of Na⁺, K⁺, Li⁺ of collected urine and serum were checked by Flame photometer. The results are summarized as follows 1. Fludrocortisone decreased the serum concentration of lithium and increased the urinary excretion of lithium. 2. In the group treated with low dose of dexamethasone (0.1 mg/kg), the serum concentration of lithium was decreased and high dose of dexamethasone (1 mg/kg) increased the urinary excretion of lithium. 3. Fludrocortisone increased the urinary [Na⁺]/[K⁺] in serum and decreased [Na⁺]/[K⁺] inurine, but opposite effects were occurred in dexamethasone. By above results, it may be concluded that corticosteroid increased the urinary excretion of lithium and decreased the serum concentration of lithium, but it seems to be there in no relationship between these effects of corticosteroid and of the renal Na⁺ or K⁺ transport.

9.Analysis of Factors Affecting Unmet Healthcare Needs of Married Immigrant Women.
Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2013;43(6):770-780
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors affecting the unmet healthcare needs of married immigrant women. METHODS: This study was a secondary data analysis using data from the 2009 National Survey of Multicultural Families. Data collected from 58,735 married immigrant women who had spouses were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, and logistic regression. RESULTS: Overall, 9.9% of married immigrant women have unmet healthcare needs. The significant predictors related to unmet healthcare needs were young age, high level of education, employed, country of origin, long period of residence, low income, uninsured, urban area, low level of subjective health status, and illness experience over past two weeks. In particular, four variables (long period of residence, low income, subjective health status, and illness experience over past two weeks) significantly predicted unmet healthcare needs for women from all countries of origin. CONCLUSION: The results of the study indicate that common predictors related to unmet healthcare needs of married immigrant women are a long period of residence, low income, subjective health status, and illness experience over past two weeks. Therefore intervention strategies to decrease unmet healthcare needs should focus on these significant predictors.

Journal of the Korean Academy of Family Medicine 1997;18(8):802-813
BACKGROUND: The patients visiting the primary care complain of the various symptoms. This symptoms may induce the stress or the reverse. In fact the stress can influence the symptoms and signs. So this study was done for the correlation of the symptoms and signs with stress. METHODS: This study was done about the patients visiting the family medicine department of the one university hospital. We collected the all items that can find in the charts for examining the symptoms and signs, and did the requests pater the patients wrote by themselves. The stress test was Psychosocial well being index to be constructed from the General Health Questionnaire. We tested the study by t-test, anova, chi-square, linear logistic regression. RESULTS: The total study numbers were 351. The stress cut-off point was 63 score. The stress group was consisted of 15 males and 43 females. The meaningful symptoms were headache, dizziness, fatigue, weakness, insomnia, anxiety or depression. The meaningful diagnoses were anxiety or depression, tension headache(p<0.05). The meaningful sociodemographic factors were female, housewife or unemployed, menopause, monthly income below 200 ten thousands won. CONCLUSIONS: It was found that the some symptoms and signs were statistically correlated with stress.
