1.The Factors Influencing on Employment Stress of University Students.

PURPOSE: This study examined to explore factors influencing on employment stress of university students. METHODS: The data were collected by structured questionnaires to students who agreed to be the subjects of this study. And 230 cases were finally analyzed. T-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression were conducted for data analysis using SPSS/WIN 18.0. RESULTS: Significant differences revealed in age, department of major, residental type and school year on employment stress by general characteristics. Also, employment stress showed negative correlation with self-esteem, and satisfaction in major. Self-esteem and satisfaction in major, department of major were confirmed as a factors influencing on employment stress and accounted for 36% of the variance. CONCLUSION: Further studies that discover factors influencing on employment stress of university students are needed, and also practical programs are necessary to decrease employment stress of university students.

2.The Clinical Experience of Transurethral Balloon Dilation of BPH: 22 Cases.

We report 22 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia treated with transurethral balloon dilation and followed for six months thereafter. Of these 22 patients, 15 patients(68.2%) demonstrated significant improvement in modified Boyarsky symptom score and/or corrected peak flow rate on six months follow-up.

3.A Case of A-V Malformation Associated with Porencephaly.

4.MR imaging of internuclear ophthalmoplegia due to cerebrovascular diseases.

Internuclear ophthalmoplegia is a conjugated gaze disorder characterized by impaired adduction on the side of a lesion involving the medial longitudinal fasciculus with dissociated nystagmus of the other abducting eye. Six patients with INO (who had clinical cerebrovascular diseases) underwent MR imaging and the results were as follows: 1. The MLF lesions were identified by MR imaging in 5 cases 2. The ratio of unilateral INO to bilateral INO was 5:1 3. The nature of lesions was infarction in 4 cases and hemorrhage in 1 case 4. The sites of MLE lesion were in the midbrain in 4 cases and in the pons in 1 case 5. All 5 cases of INO identified by MR imaging had other lesion sites in addition to MLE lesion.

6.Effect of phenobarbital pretreatment on the hepatotoxicity of carbon tetrachloride in rat.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of phenobarbital (PB) on hepatotoxic effect of carbon tetrachloride (CCI4) which induces centrilobular necrosis in liver. Rats were injected intraperitoneally CCI4 dissolved in olive oil by a dose of 0.4 mg/kg. For change related to PB pretreatment, rats were injected CCI₄ 0.4mg/kg after PB pretreatment. The liver samples were taken in 6, 12, 24, 48, 72 and 120 hours after CCI₄ and/ or PB injection. Extracted liver tissue was examined with light and electron microscopes. The results were summarized as follows: 1. Light microscopic findings: In CCI₄ group, centrilobular necrosis developed from 6 hours after injection, was the most severe in 48 hours, and recovered after 72 hours. In addition to necrosis, fatty change and pale cell change were accompanied. In PB-CCI4 group, necrosis occurred from 6 hours after CCI₄ injection and continued to 72 hours, and the degree of necrosis was more severe than that of CCI₄ group and pale cell change was decreased. 2. Electron microscopic findings: In CCI4 group, the early principal change was clumping and vesicular dilatation of endoplasmic reticulum. In PB-CCI₄ group, the degenerative change of endoplasmic reticulum was aggravated and the mitochondria also revealed severe degenerative change. According to the results, it was revealed that CCI₄ hepatotoxicity primarily began with the damage of endoplasmic reticulum, then damage of other cell organelles and cell necrosis followed, and these cytotoxic effects were aggravated by PB pretreatment.

7.Surgically Treated Lesions Detected by CT in 3 Cases of Early Seizure.

CT findings justified surgical intervention in three young patients who had suffered from epilepsy and attack like unconsciousness. Other neurodiagnostic procedures with these patients had failed to show focal cerebral lesions amenable to surgical treatment. Two patients of them achieved significant relief from seizures after operation, but one has been suffering from occasional epileptic attacks yet.

8.A Case of Metastatic Papillary Adenocarcinoma in the Posterior Fossa Originating from the Maxillary Sinus.

We had experienced a case of metastatic papillary adenocarcinoma in the posterior fossa originating from the maxillary sinus, though there is general agreement that the commonest orgin of the metastatic intracranial tumors is bronchogenic carcinoma with carcinoma of the breast a close second;stomach and kidney come next and the carcinomas metastasize to the supratentorial cavity mostly. The patient was 41-year-old male who had complained of severe frontal headache, vomiting and loss of weight for about 40 days prior to admission. The tumor was located between the cerebellum and the meninges, and well demarcated, yellowhish and soft. We could remove it easily. Microscopic findings of the tumor showed papillomatous overgrowth of moderately differentiated signet ring cells with areas of necrosis and frequent mitosis. PAS staining revealed the presence of PAS positive materials in those cells.

9.K+ -ATP - Channel Opener as a Potential Treatment for Erectile Dysfunction.

PURPOSE: Intracavernous injection of PGE1 or papaverine is widely used in the diagnosis and treatment of erectile dysfunction. However, these drugs have several side effects such as pain, priapism, and fibrotic lesions. In this study, we assessed the effects of pinacidil (a K+ -ATP - channel opener) as an alternative for inducing penile erection. METHODS: Using a feline model, the magnitude of penile erection caused by pinacicil was compared with that caused by other drugs, namely acetylcholine, PGE1 and L-arginine. The effects of K+ -channel blockers(4-aminopyridine, glibenclamide, and tetraethylammonium; TEA) and pinacidil on the induced erections were investigated. RESULTS: Intra-arterial injection of pinacicil increased the intracavernous pressure (ICP) in a dose-dependent fashion, and the increase in ICP induced by pinacicil plus acetylcholine, PGE1 or L-arginine was more pronounced than that induced by any of these drugs alone. Furthermore, pinacicil (10(-3)M/mL) effectively reversed the inhibitory effects of the K+-channel blockers on cavernous relaxation induced by acetylcholine, PGE1 or L-arginine (P<0.01). Notably, pinacidil induced cavernous relaxation even in cases refractory to a higher concentration <10(-1) M/mL) of erectics (n = 11; p<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that pinacidil is effective in relaxing feline erectile tissue in vivo, probably via increased K+ permeability and subsequent hyperpolarization. Further comparative studies with human erectile tissue and clinical testing are required to show whether K+-channel openers can be used in the diagnosis and treatment of erectile dysfunction.
