1.Direct Immunofluorescent Studies in the Scabies.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1984;22(4):381-386
There are many reports about the deposition of immunoglobulins and complement by direct immunofluorescence(DIF) in the lesion of scabies. The authors investigated the immunoglobulins and C, for the purpose of studying the immunologic reactivity of the host to scabies mites by DIF. The results are summerized as follows: Total number of the cases investigated were 20 (18 males, 2 females), of whom 11 were in their third decade of age. The clinical forms of the tested lesions were papular type (7 cases), nodular type (12 cases), and Norwegian type (1 case). The durations of the patients were mostly within 2 months, but was 9 months in 1 case of nodular type, Deposition of immunoglobulin and C, was demonstrated by DIF in 10 of 12 cases (83. 3%) of nodular type, and 1 of 7 cases (14. 3%) of papular type. The Norwegian type showed negative results. There seemed to be no relation between the duration of scabies and positive rates. Of 20 cases tested, immunoglobulin and C, were deposited in the vascular wall in 11 lesions (55%), and at the dermoepidermal junction in 3 lesions (15%). While in 1 of 7 cases of papular type both IgM and C, were observed, IgM and C, were noted in 7 and 9, respectively, in 12 cases of nodular type.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1990;28(2):165-173
Isolation of Microsporum canis from home environment was carried out for 30 tinea capitis patients infected by M, canis. M. canis was isolated in 84.2-100% of patients caps, mattresses, clothes and pillows and families' clothes. The greatest mean number of M. canis colonies per petri dish was found in the patients pillows and followed by caps, mattresses, outerwear, and underwear. Mean number of M. canis colonies in the clothes of mothers, grandmothers, brothers, sisters and roommates of patients was smaller than that of the M. canis colonies in the clothes of patients but greater than that isolated from the clothes of other family members. Frequency of isolation and mean number of colonies decreased drarnatically after 2 weeks therapy and rarely isolated after 6 weeks therapy. M. canis was isolated in 100% of the house dust of patients. Isolation index was greater in the house dust of patients with concomittant infection of other family members and with lesions of scaly and inflammatory type. M. canis was isolated from cats and goat of patients by the hair brush technique.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1983;21(4):445-449
Sea urchin granuloma is a rare skin disorder, considered to be allergic or foreign body reaction caused by stick of spines of sea urchin. However, detection of the spine in the granuloma is quite difficult. A 27 year-old marine was seen with several asymptomatic hard nodules on the dorsum of hands, fingers, forearrns and knees at the injured site of the spines after a latent period of 6 rnonths. Histolagical examination revealed dermal granulomatous inflamation with hyperkeratotic and acanthotic epidermis. On examination with polarized microscopy, sea urchin spines in the granuloma were seen as bright white fragments in the dark field. Those nodules were regressed with intralesional injection of triamcinoIone.

Journal of Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing 2013;24(3):273-281
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine gender differences in effects of self-efficacy, exercise benefits and barriers, and demographic factors on the physical activity. METHODS: Seventy sedentary office workers, 35 male and 35 female, from a major airline company, completed a questionnaire from March 28 to April 5, 2012. Steps and body mass indices were measured using a CW-700/701 (Yamax) pedometer and Inbody 720 (Biospace), respectively. Data were analyzed using t-test, chi2-test, multiple linear regression, and simultaneous quantile regression. RESULTS: For male workers, exercise self-efficacy had a significant effect on physical activity, but only when respondents were at 10%(3,431 steps/day, p=.018) and 25%(4,652 steps/day, p=.044) of the physical activity distribution. For female workers, marital status was significantly related to physical activity, but only when respondents were at 10% (3,537 steps/day, p=.013) and 25%(3,862 steps/day, p=.014) of the physical activity distribution. CONCLUSION: Quantile regression highlights the heterogeneous effect of physical activity determinants among office workers. Therefore intervention strategies for increasing physical activity should be tailed to genders as well as physical activity levels.

Korean Circulation Journal 2000;30(12):1507-1514
Purpose: The purposes of this study were to compare the magnitude and phase between the RR interval and QT interval variability in the frequency domain. METHODS: Twenty four, 12-13 year old healthy males were randomly selected. At resting state and for 5 minutes, ECGs were obtained, and they were digitized to 1000Hz. After measurement of RR interval, QT interval variability was measured using template matching strategy. After normalization of the RR and QT interval time series, power spectral and cross spectral analysis were performed. From each of the time series, low- (0.04-0.15 hertz) and high- (0.15-0.4 hertz) frequency power were measured. From the phase spectrum, the phases and time lags between the two time series at each of the two frequency range were calculated. RESULTS: The average of RR interval and QT interval was 616.0+/-71.0, 364.0+/-47.0 msec, respectively. Their normalized low- and high- frequency power was 4.4+/-7.9 NU(normalized unit), 0.1+/-0.1 NU(p<0.005), and 11.0+/-30.0 NU, 0.3+/-0.3(NU, p<0.005), respectively. The phase differences and resulting time lags between the two interval were -0.5+/-0.4 pi radian(-0.9 seconds) and -0.2+/-0.3 pi radian(-0.4 seconds) in the low- and high-frequency range, respectively. CONCLUSION: During resting state, when compared to RR interval, QT interval oscillates in significantly lower amplitude in both low- and high- frequency ranges. However, the oscillations precede those of the RR interval 0.9 seconds and 0.4 seconds, respectively.

Journal of Korean Society of Endocrinology 1995;10(1):52-57
Hyperthyroidism is a well known cause of atrial fibrillation. It is also known that control of hyperthyroidism can usually curb thyrotoxic atrial fibrillation and restore sinus rhythm. In this study, 282 patients with hyperthyroidism were investigated to quantify the incidence of atrial fibrillation, and to identify the vulnerable groups. In addition, we compared two groups of subjects with atrial fibrillation-one group with hyperthyroidism and the other group without

8.A Case or Congenital Lid Coloboma.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1978;19(4):461-465
Reconstruction of an eye lid or even a part of it requires a minimum of three elements; an outer layer of skin; an inner layer of mucosa; and a semi-rigid skeleton interposed between them. The upper lid is the most difficult to reconstruct as it must be movable. This report contains of a congenital upper lid coloboma of which reconstructed by Abbe-type full thickness flap of the lower eye lid. He is a 15 years old boy who has congenital middle third defect of left upper eye lid. The defect was rectangular shape, the edge rolled, and without lashes and glandular structures, with the base located at the central portion of upper lid margin. The inner margin is about 3mm apart from superior lacrimal punctum. He has no other associated congenital anomalies. His visual acuity of left eye was light perception that resulted from chronic exposure keratopathy. The authors operated a case of congenital lid colob@ma and obtained good cosmetic result.

10.Analysis of Factors Affecting Unmet Healthcare Needs of Married Immigrant Women.
Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2013;43(6):770-780
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors affecting the unmet healthcare needs of married immigrant women. METHODS: This study was a secondary data analysis using data from the 2009 National Survey of Multicultural Families. Data collected from 58,735 married immigrant women who had spouses were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, and logistic regression. RESULTS: Overall, 9.9% of married immigrant women have unmet healthcare needs. The significant predictors related to unmet healthcare needs were young age, high level of education, employed, country of origin, long period of residence, low income, uninsured, urban area, low level of subjective health status, and illness experience over past two weeks. In particular, four variables (long period of residence, low income, subjective health status, and illness experience over past two weeks) significantly predicted unmet healthcare needs for women from all countries of origin. CONCLUSION: The results of the study indicate that common predictors related to unmet healthcare needs of married immigrant women are a long period of residence, low income, subjective health status, and illness experience over past two weeks. Therefore intervention strategies to decrease unmet healthcare needs should focus on these significant predictors.
