Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1984;20(3):609-614
It is well known the CT is very useful in the evaluation of gallbladder carcinoma. We have studied 19 cases of gallbladder carcinoma with whole body scanner from May 1980 to Aug. 1983. 1. The sex distribution were 11 males and 8 females with over 40 years of age. 2. The computed tomographic classificications of the cases were 7 of intraluminal fungating mass(single 5 and multiple 2), 5 of mass filling the gallbladder, 5 of irregular thickened GB and 2 of mixed type, irregular thickned wall and intraluminal fungating mass. 3. CT demonstrated metastasis of other organ, 8 cases of the liver, 5 cases of the extrahepatic bile duct, 3 cases of peritoneum, 2 cases of duodenum, 1 case of the stomach, 1 case of the pancreas, and 15 cases of lymph nodes. 4. Associated diseases were6 cases of gall stone, 2 cases of clonorchiasis, 1 case of pancreatic pseudocyst, and 1 case of renal cyst.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1985;21(6):975-984
With simple abdomen, double contrast colon study, and ultrasongraphy, authors retrospectively analyzedradilogic findings of 46 cases which were proved periappendiceal abscess, due to perforation of appendix, byhistology or follow-up ultrasnongraphy from May in 1983 to July in 1985 at Yeung-Nam University Hospital. Theresuls obtained were as follows: 1. Of 46 cases, 24 cases were males and 22 cases females, with the results ofabove statistics, periappendiceal abscess was not influenced by sex. 2. Periappendiceal abscess was mostfrequently demonstrated in forties. 3. Comparison of ultrasonography and B.E. Pseudorenal pattern(Ultrasonography)- well defined defect (B.E.) Cystic pattern(Ultrasonography)- serrated defect (B.E.) 4. Missed 2 cases inultrasonography were detected in B.E., i.e. sensitivity of B.E. is higher than that of ultrasonography. 5.Differences of ultrasonography and B.E.

Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 2003;15(4):650-659
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify predictors of depression and quality of life among older adults with osteoarthritis. The predictors included in the model were the client's characteristics(age, pain, disease duration, ADLs), personal resources(hardiness, self-care agency and family support), and depression. METHOD: 150 subjects who were older than 65 years and had diagnosis of osteoarthritis participated in the study. To answer the research questions, descriptive analysis, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression were utilized using SPSS WIN program. RESULT: Older adults who were younger and had lower levels of pain and dependency on ADLs, and higher levels of self care agency and hardiness reported lower levels of depression(R2=0.517). Older adults who had lower levels of depression, pain, and dependency on ADLs, higher levels of family support and hardiness, and who are younger reported higher levels of quality of life(R2=0.804). CONCLUSION: Based on the findings of this study, development of nursing intervention program including pain reduction, enhancing ADL abilities and personal resources (hardiness, family support) can be suggested. Further study is needed to increase the ability of generalization of the study findings to the broader population.

Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 2000;12(1):134-146
This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between self-esteem, health promoting behavior and the quality of life of the patients undergoing hemodialysis. The subjects were 86 patients undergoing hemodialysis in H hospital. The data were collected using a questionnaire. Data collection was done from January 11th to June 16th, 1999. The analysis of data was done by use of descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Coefficient and Multiple regression using the SPSS/PC+ program. The results are as follows:1.The mean of the level of self-esteem was 25.02, the level of health promoting behavior, 120.04 and the level of QOL, 128.09. 2. Test for hypothesis: Hypothesis 1. "The higher the level of self-esteem of the patients undergoing hemodialysis, the higher the level of quality of life will be." was supported(r=.296, p<.01). Hypothesis 2. "The higher the level of health promoting behavior, the higher the level of quality of life will be." was supported (r=.628, p<.001). 3.Health promoting behavior explained 39.5percent of QOL(R2=.395, F=27.040, p<.001). 4. Monthly income(F=3.85, p<.01) and marital status(F=4.64, p<.05) were significantly related to the quality of life In conclusion, this study showed that self-esteem and health promoting behavior may be important factors that can improve the quality of life of the patients undergoing hemodiaysis. This study identified that nursing plans should include these factors to help physical, psychological and social adaptation of the patients undergoing hemodialysis.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the effect of acupuncture on regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) at acupoints suggested by oriental medicine to be related to the treatment of cerebrovascular diseases. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Rest/acupuncture-stimulation Tc-99m ECD brain SPECT using a same-dose subtraction method was performed on 54 normal volunteers (34 males, 20 females, age range from 18 to 62 years) using six paradigms: acupuncture at acupoints GV. 20, GV. 26, LI. 4, ST. 36 and SP. 6. In the control study, needle location was chosen on a non-meridian focus 1 cm posterior to the right fibular head. All images were spatially normalized, and the differences between rest and acupuncture stimulation were statistically analyzed using SPM for Windows . RESULTS: Acupuncture applied at acupoint GV. 20 increased rCBF in both the anterior frontal lobes, the right frontotemporal lobes, and the left anterior temporal lobe and the left cerebellar hemisphere. Acupuncture at GV. 26 increased rCBF in the left prefrontal cortex. Acupuncture at LI. 4 increased rCBF in the left prefrontal and both the inferior frontal lobes, and the left anterior temporal lobe and the left cerebellar hemisphere. Acupuncture at ST. 36 increased rCBF in the left anterior temporal lobe, the right inferior frontal lobes, and the left cerebellum. Acupuncture at SP. 6 increased rCBF in the left inferior frontal and anterior temporal lobes. In the control stimulation, no significant rCBF increase was observed. CONCLUSION: The results demonstrated a correlation between stimulation at each acupoint with increase in rCBF to the corresponding brain areas.

Korean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 1998;41(8):2146-2150
From January 1995 to December 1997, a total of 219 cases pelviscopic surgery was performed at Il Sin Christian Hospital. To evaluate the safty and efficacy of pelviscopic surgery, we reviewed indication of operation, mean age, parity, history of abdominal operation, type of operation, duration of hospitalization and complication retrospectively. The number of pelviscopic surgery have risen from 33 cases in 1995 to 53 cases in 1996 and 133 cases in 1997. The most common indications were 118 cases for ectopic pregnancy (53.9%) and 42 cases for ovarian cyst (19.2%), 20 cases for infertility (9.1%) in order. Among the ovarian cyst, endometrioma was the most common. The mean age of patients was 31+/-6.7 years old and mean parity was 0.77. In most cases, mean blood loss was lesser than 100 cc except 500 cc in LAVH, 150 cc in CISH, 106.7 cc in ectopic mass removal. The postoperative hospital stay was varied from 0 day to 10 days, but usually 2 days. The 26 cases had complicated and the most common complication was fever above 38degrees C. In conclusion, it is evident that pelviscopic surgery is lesser invasive technique, has lower complication rate and shorter the length of hospitalization. So, we expect the number and indication of pelviscopic surgery will be increased in future.
