Objective To explore the clinical features of nephrotic syndrome combined with H1N1 influenza. Methods The clinical manifestations, laboratory and image examinations, treatment, and prognosis of nephrotic syndrome combined H1N1 influenza were retrospectively analyzed in 15 children with. Results All of 15 children with nephrotic syndrome met the diagnostic criteria of H1N1 influenza. The median age of all children was 4-year-8-month old (2-year-2-month to 6-year-9-month). All children were treated with hormone alone or combined with other immunosuppressive drugs. Three cases were severe and another 5 cases were critically ill. Four cases were complicated with recurrence of nephrotic syndrome, 2 of which suffered from acute renal insufficiency. All children were given oseltamivir as antiviral treatment at admission. Four cases took oseltamivir within 48 hours of onset and showed mild symptoms. Fourteen children with H1N1I influenza were cured, their urinary proteins were significantly decreased or converted to negative, and the median hospital stay was 8 days (1 to 25 days). One child died of acute necrotizing encephalopathy and brain herniation. Conclusions Children with nephrotic syndrome are susceptible to severe or critical H1N1 influenza infections. During the epidemic of H1N1 influenza, the clinical preventive measures should be taken in children with nephrotic syndrome.

BACKGROUND:Fracture healing mechanism is complex and affected by many factors, and delayed fracture healing or nonunion often occurs. How to promote fracture healing has become a serious problem.
OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of local application of nerve growth factor on early fracture healing after peripheral nerve injury.
METHODS:Thirty-six healthy male Wistar rats were selected to establish tibial fracture models, which were randomly divided into four groups, with 18 limbs in each group. Group A: tibial fracture+normal saline injectionvia bilateral gastrocnemius muscles; group B: tibial fracture+nerve injury+normal saline injection; group C: tibial fracture+local injection of nerve growth factor; group D: tibial fracture+nerve injury+local injection of nerve growth factor. Calus metrology results were compared among different groups.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The calus volume was the most in the group B at 4 weeks of intervention, but there were no different among the other three groups (P > 0.05). At 2 weeks of intervention, the bone resorption area was significantly larger in the group B than the group D (P < 0.05), and the osteoclast index was significantly higher in the group A than the group C (P < 0.05); while at 4 weeks of intervention, the mineralized bone trabecular width was significantly lower in the group A than the group C (P < 0.05) as wel as lower in the group C than the group D (P < 0.05). These findings indicate that after peripheral nerve injury, local application of nerve growth factor can enhance the osteogenic ability, effectively inhibit osteoclast activity, and promote the early healing of fracture.

Objective To investigate the effect of multidisciplinary intervenient on survival of patients with malignant tumor. Methods Six hundred and thirty-nine malignant tumor patients were randomly assigned to the intervenient and the control group. A total of 584 completed the follow-up study. The intervenient group received comprehensive treatment for 2 years, while the control group was in a process of self-rehabilitation. The 2-year survival rate was compared between the groups by using Cox proportional hazard model. Results The 2-year survival rate was 94. 74% (108/114) or 80. 67% (121/150) in II stage patients of the intervenient or control group, respectively ( P < 0. 01 ) . The 2-year survival rate was 88. 03% (163/177) or 82. 8% (184/222) in early and medium stage patients of the intervenient or control group, respectively(P <0. 01). Conclusion The multidisciplinary intervenient may help to improve the 2 year survival of early or moderate stage malignant tumors.

Objective To analyze the MRI imaging feature and the clinical feature of pituicytoma. Methods The clinical data and imaging feature of 10 patients with pituicytoma who were proved histologically were retrospectively studied. Visual disturbances disorder and headache were the main complaints of all patients. One patient had sexual function decline. All patients were given the examination of MRI and showed saddle area were occupied. Results Most of pituicytoma was circular or oval morphologically. Pituicytoma located at suprasellar region in 4 patients, in the sellar in 2 patients and over the sellar region in 4 patients. In them, cystic change occured in 1 patient. In most of the cases, the tumor showed isointensity on T1WI, isointensity or slightly hyperintensity on T2WI. After injection of contrast medium, the tumor showed homogeneous enhancement in early stage. Pathological markers:S-100, and vimenlin indicated 100%positive;glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP), synaptophysin (SYN) and epithelial membrane antigen(EMA) indicated 50% positive. Six patients′serum endocrine function test:the levels of serum total triiodothyronine (TT3), total thyroxine (TT4), free triiodothyronine (FT3), free thyroxine (FT4), thyroid stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH) had different degrees of reduction in 4 patients, and these index were normal in 2 patients. Conclusions On MRI, pituicytoma has certain characteristics which might help clinical diagnosis combined with the clinical manifestation and endocrine function tests.

AIM: To investigate the effects and mechanisms of angiotensin-(1-7) on cardiac hypertrophy in pressure-overloaded rats. METHODS: Ar at model of pressure-overloaded heart was induced by constriction of abdominal aorta. Seventy-five male Sprague Dawley rats were randomized to sham-operated group, model control group and angiotensin-(1-7) treatment group. They were treated with intravenous infusion of angiotensin-(1-7) (25 microgram/kg per hour) or saline by minipump. RESULTS: Abdominal aortic banding resulted in a significant increases in LVW/BW, myocardial angiotensinⅡlevels, and p-ERK1/2 expression. Angiotensin-(1-7) had no effect on aortic banding-induced increases in myocardial angiotensinⅡlevels, but it significantly attenuated aortic banding-induced increases in LVW/BW and p-ERK1/2 expression. CONCLUSION: Angiotensin-(1-7) attenuates the development of cardiac hypertrophy in pressure-overloaded rats. It may be associated with the inhibition of p-ERK1/2 expression in cardiac tissue.
