Spinal biomechanics, especially the range of spine motion, has close connection with spinal surgery. The change of the range of motion (ROM) is an important indicator of diseases and injuries of spine, and the essential evaluating standards of effect of surgeries and therapies to spine. The analysis of ROM can be dated to the time of the invention of X-ray and even that before it. With the development of science and technology as well as the optimization of various types of calculation methods, diverse measuring methods have emerged, from imaging methods to non-imaging methods, from two-dimensional to three-dimensional, from measuring directly on the X-ray films to calculating automatically by computer. Analysis of ROM has made great progress, but there are some older methods cannot meet the needs of the times and disappear, some classical methods such as X-ray still have vitality. Combining different methods, three dimensions and more vivo spine research are the trend of analysis of ROM. And more and more researchers began to focus on vivo spine research. In this paper, the advantages and disadvantages of the methods utilized recently are presented through viewing recent literatures, providing reference and help for the movement analysis of spine.

Objective To study the expression and prognostic significance of neuroendocrine differentiation markers chromogranin A(CgA)and synaptophysin(SYN) in patients with resectable non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods From January 2000 to January 2003,123 patients with NSCLC who received operations were investigated. The resected specimens and clinical data were collected.Immunohistochemical Elivison method was used to detecte the expression of CgA and SYN.Kaplan-Meier survival curve and Cox proportional hazard model multivariate analysis were applied for the prognostic factors. Results The positive expression rates of CgA and SYN were 22%,17.9%,respectively.The expression of SYN was associated with histological differentiation(P=0.001).No significant association was found between NSCLC with neuroendocrine differentiation(NSCLC-ND) and sex, age, smoke index,TNM Stage and pathology classification. No evidence showed the patients with positive expression of CgA or SYN could be tolerant with more cycles of chemotherapy(P=0.406).Kaplan-Meier survival curve indicated the survival had a relation with the expression of CgA and SYN.It was revealed by Cox analysis that SYN(P=0.001),TNM stage(P=0.02)and the maximal diameter of tumor(P=0.049) were independent prognostic factors. Conclusion The patients with NSCLC-ND had a poorer prognosis.SYN may be one of the prognostic factors in patients with NSCLC.

Objective To investigate the change of HO-1 expression in adipose tissue of obese young SD rats as well as its relationship with macrophage infiltration and polarization. Methods Three-week old SD rats (n=24) were randomly divided into 2 groups, routine diet group (NC) and high fat diet group (FC). After feeding 4 weeks, triglyceride (TG), high den?sity lipoprotein (HDL-C), fasting glucose and insulin were compared between these two groups and the insulin resistance in?dex was calculated. The gene expressions of HO-1, IL-6, IL-10 and MCP-1 were assessed by quantitative PCR. Infiltration and polarization of macrophages and M2 macrophages in the visceral adipose tissue were examined by immunohistochemis?try. Results The levels of FINS, FBG and HOMA-IR in rats of FC group were higher than those of rats in NC group after 4 weeks feeding (P<0.05). The level of HO-1, IL-6, MCP-1 in rats from FC group were significantly higher while level of IL-10 were lower compared with those in rats from NC group after 4 weeks of feeding (P<0.05). In samples from FC groups, more macrophages were detected in adipose tissue by DAB staining than those from NC group. There was no significant dif?ference (P>0.05) in MOD value of F4/80 and CD206 between these two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion The infiltration of macrophage in visceral adipose tissue of obese young SD rats significantly increased while HO-1 expression was reactively increased. This insinuated that HO-1 might play an important role in anti-inflammatory mechanism through regulating polar?ization of macrophages.
