Objective To explore the effects of upper limb robot-assisted therapy on motor recovery in acute stroke patients. Methods From August, 2013 to September, 2014, 46 acute stroke patients at their first-ever stroke were enrolled and randomized into experimental group and control group with 23 cases in each group. Both groups received routine therapy. Additional robot-assisted therapy was provided to the experimental group, and additional repetitive movement training was provided to the control group, 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week for 12 weeks. Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Upper Limb (FM-UL), modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) and modified Barthel index (MBI) were used to assess the motor function of the upper limbs and hands, the muscular tension of elbow, and activities of daily living (ADL) before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the scores of FM-UA, MAS and MBI improved in both groups (t>3.856, Z>1.889, P<0.05), and the scores of FM-UA and MAS were better in the experiment group than in the control group (t=-2.386, Z=-2.625, P<0.05), however, there was no significant difference in the score of MBI between two groups (t=-1.326, P=0.098). Conclusion Upper limb robot-assisted therapy can facilitate the recovery of the motor function of upper limbs in acute stroke patient.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the cytotoxicity of the nickel ion and provide with basic data for the biological evaluation of those medical devices containing nickel. Seven cell lines were chosen. They were L929, h9c2(2-1), 293[HEK-293], hFOB1.19, THLE-3, H9 and IM-9 respectively. According to the principle of biological evaluation of medical devices, MTT method was chosen to test the cytotoxicity in different concentrations of nickel ion. For each cell line, the relative growth rate (RGR) was obtained and the cytotoxic grade was classified. Besides, IC50 values were calculated. As a result, it was found that the sensitivity was different among all cell lines. H9 was the most sensitive one, while the L929 was the most tolerant one. The concentration which is not above 1.25 mg/L was safe for all seven cell lines, because the cytotoxicity for all cells exposed in this concentration were not higher than grade 1. According to the criteria for medical devices, the concentrations not above 5 mg/L were safe for L929 cells. This result helps us to roughly assess the cytotoxicity and systematic toxicity caused by nickel contained in medical devices.

Objective To study the expression of interleukin (IL-17A) in primary liver cancer (PHC) tissue and its clinical significance.Methods Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and immunohistochemistry was performed respectively to detect the expression of IL-17A mRNA and CD34 in tumor tissues from 37 patients with PHC.Murine H22 cells cultured in vitro were exposed to IL-17A at different dosages (0.1,0.5,1.0,5.0,10,50,100,500,1000 ng/ml) and the cell proliferation was assayed by MTT.IL-17A was administered to the mice transplanted with H22 cancer cells via caudal vein and the tumor volume was measured by vernier caliper.Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the CD31 expression in H22 cancer tissues.Results IL-17A mRNA was detected in 26 of the 37 samples of primary liver cancer.The microvessel densities in IL-17A-positive samples and IL-17A-negative samples were 66.6 ± 2.5 and 26.7--2.5,respectively.The difference between two groups was significant (P＜0.01).The proliferation of H22 cells exposed to various dosages of IL-17A was not different (P＞0.05).The volume of murine tumor tissue in animals treated with IL-17A was (843.6± 90.9) mm3 and in untreated animals was (198.7±24.4) mm3 (P＜0.01).The microvessel density in treated group and control group was 71.9± 6.8 and 33.3 ± 2.9,respectively (P＜0.01).Conclusions The expression of IL-17A could be detected in a considerable proportion of primary liver cancers and correlated with angiogenesis.Exogenous IL-17A could not accelerate H22 cell proliferation in vitro but in vivo probably via enhancing angiogenesis.

Objective To explore the association of serum uric acid level with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) in Han and Uyghur ethnic groups.Methods A cross-sectional study was performed in the population in 2011 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University.The study included 2439 Uyghurs and 2285 Hans with a questionnaire survey,and body mass index (BMI),waist circumference,blood pressure,blood glucose,blood lipid,and serum uric acid (SUA) level were measured.The participants were divided into 4 groups according to the quartiles of the SUA levels within the normal range,and those with SUA levels above the normal range served as hyperuricemia group.The associations between serum uric acid level and prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver,hyperuricemia,and metabolic syndrome (MS,including each component of MS) were analyzed.Results Among Uyghurs and Hans,the detection rates of NAFLD were 26.7％ and 23.6％ respectively,the detection rates of hyperuricemia were 7.8％ and 18.2％,and the level of serum uric acid in Uyghur group was lower than that in Han group (P＜0.01).The detection rate of NAFLD in the hyperuricemia patients was significantly higher than that in nonhyperuricemia group.Among the Uyghurs and Hans,the detection rates of NAFLD in the hyperuricenia patients were 24.0％ and 19.9％.The detection rate of NAFLD was positively associated with concentration of serum acid even that within the normal range.Conclusion The relationship between the level of serum uric acid and the prevalence of NAFLD is more evident in Uyghur than that in Han.

Objective To explore the role of ureteroacopy for acute upper urinary tract obstructive anuria.Methods Clinical data of 37 cases with acute upper urinary tract obstructive anuria were analyzed.Results Among 37 cases,34 cases were successfully performed ureteroseopy or ureteroseopic lithotripsy with double-J sent incubation (successful rate was 91.9%).Renal function were recovery in 32 cases.4 Cases returned to 180μmol/L,1 case need hemodialysis periodically.Conclusion Ureteroscopy could rapidly remove the obstruction and protect renal function in management of acute upper urinary tract obstruction anuria,which was contributed to the diagnosis.It was safe,effective and the preferred method.

A novel hemiacetal, citrinacetal (1) was isolated from a marine-derived fungus Penicillium citrinum by column chromatography on silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and semi-preparative HPLC. Its structure and stereochemistry was established on the basis of HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic methods. The NMR spectrum showed this compound exists in solution as a mixture of two stereoisomers. The cytotoxic effect of compound 1 was evaluated in A-549, HL-60, HeLa, and K562 cancer cell lines. However, compound 1 only displayed weak cytotoxic activity on HL-60 cell, with IC50 value 77.4 micromol x L(-1).
