Objective To investigate the effects of Hep-A and He p-B on vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-induced breakdown of blood-r etinal barrier. Methods The mice were subcutaneously injected vehicle, Hep-A or Hep-B 10 mg/kg twice a day for 5 days. Then, 1 ?l of 10 -6 mol/L VEGF were intravitreous injected. After 6 hours, 13.7?10 4 Bq /g 3H-mannital were injected intraperitoneally. The mice were sacrificed and the retinas, lungs, kidneys were removed and examined for radioactivity. The result were analyzed using SPSS software to calculate and compare retina/lung and et ina/kidney leakage ratio among groups of different treatment. Objective To compare the clinical efficacy of percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) by balloon dilatation between unipedicular and bilateral pedicle approach for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF). Methods From January 2012 to March 2014, 56 patients with single-level or double- level OVCF were randomly divided into two groups. 29 patients with 33 vertebral bodies were performed by PKP through unipedicular approach and 27 patients with 31 vertebral bodies through bipedicular approach , used PMMA bone cement filling vertebral. The clinical data of patients were prospectively analyzed and the clinical efficacy was compared between two groups. Results The VAS scores, Beck value, Cobb angle and ODI scores after operation improved in both groups (P < 0.01),but there were no significant difference between two groups(P > 0.05). The operative time, X-ray exposure time and volume of bone cement in unilateral group were less than that of bilateral group(P < 0.01). There were no significant difference in the incidence of bone cement leakage ,the pain relief and the incidence of complications between two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion Both unipedicular and biopedicular PKP are significant improvement for the OVCF, vertebral strengthen showed similar efficacy, but the former has easy operation procedure, can shorten operative time and reduce X-ray exposure time and less volume of bone cement.

Objective To investigate the influence of miR-106b on Wnt/β-catenin pathway in HCC cells. Methods QGY-7703 and HepG2 cells were transfected with miRNA mimics or inhibitors. TOP/FOP luciferase ratio assay was used to test the Wnt/β-catenin pathway activity. The expression of downstream targeted genes of Wnt/β-catenin pathway were examined by Real-time PCR. The accumulation of β-catenin in nuclears were measured by Western blotting. Results Ectopic expression of miR-106b dramatically increased the average TOP/FOP ratio and the mRNA expression of downstream targeted genes in QGY-7703 and HepG2 cells. Compared with that in control cells , miR-106b over-expression promoted the nuclear β-catenin accumulation in QGY-7703 cells. Clonclusion MiR-106b activated Wnt/β-catenin pathway in HCC cells.

Objective To explore the association between glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) level at admission and coronary plaque characteristics under intravenous ultrasound (IVUS) study in patients with non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS). Methods 118 patients with NSTE-ACS were divided into the low(HbA1c ≤ 5.6％), medium(HbA1c 5.7％-6.4％)and high(HbA1c ≥ 6.5％)level groups based on admission HbA1c. IVUS was performed in all target lesions. Results As compared with the other two groups, patients with high level HbA1c had higher mean body weight index, higher co-morbidities of diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia and non-ST-elevation acute myocardial infarction.The high HbA1c level group had more diffuse coronary atherosclerosis ,increased plaque burden and higher rates of positive remodeling, soft plaque and plaque rupture. Conculsions The HbAlc level of admission is associated with plaque vulnerability in NSTE-ACS patients.

ObjectiveTo investigate and compare the prevalence,awareness and risk factors of chronic kidney disease (CKD) between urban and rural population in Guangxi province in order to provide information for prevention and treatment of CKD.MethodsBy a stratified multistage random sampling method,18 to 74 years old residents in Guangxi province were surveyed. They wereevaluatedbyquestionnaire,urinaryalbumin/creatinineratio, hematuria (microscopic examination of centrifuged urine sediment),kidney B-mode ultrasound,and abnormal results were reviewed 3 months later.Estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR) was calculated with the simplified MDRD equation modified by a Chinese coefficient.The risk factors associated with CKD were also investigated.Results There were no significant differences between urban and rural residents in the prevalence of albuminuria (5.22％ vs 5.47％) and hematuria (1.07％ vs 1.11％)(all P＞0.05).The prevalence of renal lithiasis in rural residents was significantly higher than that in the town(10.54％ vs 6.95％)(P＜0.05).The decreased renal function between urban and rural residents(3.87％ vs 4.04％,P＞0.05) had no significant difference.The prevalence of CKD was 9.58％ in urban and 9.42％ in rural(P＞0.05).The prevalence of albuminuria according to the age distribution was different between urban and rural,which increased along with the age in urban but showed two peaks(30-40 years old and 60-74 years old) in rural.Based on logistic regression analysis,the risk factors for albuminuria were diabetes,hyperuricemia,the history of cardiovascular disease,chronic tonsillitis and HBsAg positive.The risk factors for kidney function decline were age,hyperuricemia,hypertension,diabetes,renal lithiasis and history of cardiovascular disease.The awareness rate of CKD in urban was significantly higher than that in rural (14.45％ vs 6.27％,P＜0.05).Conclusions The prevalenceof CKD has no significant difference between urban and rural in Guangxi province.The awareness rate of CKD in urban is significantly higher than that in rural.It is needed to enhance the prevention and treatment of CKD in rural.

AIM: To study the survival, transfer and distribution of bone marrow CD34+/CD45+ cells from transgenic GFP mouse after transplanted into the completed transversional spinal cord rat model. METHODS: The bone marrow cells isolated from transgenic GFP mice were cultured in vitro. The cultured cells were identified by anti-CD34 and anti-CD45 monoclonal antibodies, and were transferred into the end of transection spinal cord. Paraformaldehyde was infused into the left ventricle of the rat model at the 24 h, 48 h, 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 8 weeks after cell transplantation. Through sank and frozen, the spinal cord was sectioned at 10 ?m thickness. The green fluorescence positive cells were observed under the fluorescence microscope. CD34+/CD45+ cells were identified by immunohistochemistry staining. RESULTS: Green fluorescence positive cells were found at the head and the end of the completed transection part of spinal cord. Most of the green fluorescence positive cells were distributed in the gray substance of spinal cord. CD34+/CD45+ cells were found by immunohistochemistry staining. CONCLUSION: CD34+/CD45+ cells survived in spinal cord of SD rat, and migrated to the head of the transection part. The distance of migration was extended by the time.

Objective To evaluate the short-term therapeutic effects of DNA immunoadsorbent (IA) combined with glucocorticoid and immune depressant on patients with severe systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE). Methods 32 patients with severe SLE were selected to undergo DNA IA treatment combined with glucocorticoid plus cyclophosphamide therapy, and each patient received IA therapy 3 times, once 2.5 hours, with an interval of 24-48 hours to take another two times of IA. The changes in SLE disease activity index(SLEDAI)score, health status evaluation indexes〔 physiologic functional( PF) and emotional health( MH) scores〕,renal function indexes〔 blood urea nitrogen(BUN)and serum creatinine(SCr)〕 were observed; and anti-double stranded DNA antibody( ds-DNA), immunoglobulin (IgA, IgG, IgM), complements(C3 and C4)and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) were examined before and after IA treatment for 2 weeks. Results Two weeks after the combination therapy, the SLEDAI score, BUN, SCr, dsDNA, IgA, IgG, IgM, hs-CRP were significantly lower than those before treatment 〔SLEDAI score : 14.38±3.85 vs. 15.69±1.40, BUN (mmol/L): 11.22±4.78 vs. 16.31±7.90, SCr (μmol/L): 127.02±38.17 vs. 167.25±45.63, dsDNA( U/L): 1.36±0.12 vs. 1.43±0.18, IgA( g/L): 2.41±0.73 vs. 2.59±0.86, IgG( g/L): 16.82±4.83 vs. 21.01±4.84, IgM( g/L): 1.64±0.45 vs. 1.75±0.58, hs-CRP( mg/L): 14.41±2.20 vs. 14.94±2.60, P<0.05 or P<0.01〕; PF score, MH score, complement C3 were increased〔 PF score : 71.19±17.53 vs. 56.66±22.41, MH score : 74.01±15.72 vs. 61.50±17.98, C3( g/L): 0.56±0.09 vs. 0.52±0.10, all P<0.05〕; clinical symptoms were improved significantly, and no significant adverse reactions were found. Conclusion IA combined with medical treatment has shown that it has significant therapeutic effect for treatment of patients with severe SLE, and it may decrease the levels of dsDNA, IgA, IgG, IgM,hs-CRP, and increase the level of complement C3.

Objective:To assess the value of platelet-to-albumin ratio on overall survival(OS) and cancer specific survival(CSS) in patients with upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma(UTUC).Methods:169 patients with UTUC in Qilu hospital of Shandong University from January 2006 to December 2013 were included in this study, retrospectively. 107(63.3%) were male and 62(36.7%) were female. Their age ranged from 36 to 87 years old, mean 65 years old. 73(43.2%)were less than 65 years old and 96(56.8%) were more than 65 years old. 38 patients had the history of smoking.15 patients had the history of bladder cancer. The single tumor was found in 159 cases (94.1%). 10 patients(5.9) owned more than one site of tumor. For the ECOG, 159 cases (94.1%) were 0 score and 10 cases(5.9%) were ≥1 score. The mean Platelet count was 217.0×10 9/L, ranging (68.0-772.0)×10 9/L. The average serum albumin was 42.0 g/L, ranging (27.3-52.7)g/L. The mean PAR was 5.40×10 9, ranging(0-17.31)×10 9. 147(87.0%) patients accepted radical nephroureterectomy and 22(13.0%) cases accepted segmental ureterectomy.155 cases(91.7%) used postoperative adjuvant chemoradiation. The patients were divided into two groups as low PAR or high according to the receiver operating curve (ROC)analysis of PAR. And the Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to assess the OS and CSS and test the equivalences of the curves by log-rank tests. Univariate and multivariate survival analyses were carried out using Cox proportional hazards regression model. Results:We set 6.67×10 9 was the optimal cutoff value of PAR. Therefore, the cohort was divided into 2 groups, 133(78.7%) patients had low PAR (<6.67×10 9) and 36 patients had high PAR (≥6.67×10 9). The 3-year OS and 5-year OS of high preoperative PAR group were 50.0% and 46.2%, respectively. And low preoperative PAR group were 77.6% and 66.7%, respectively. In univariate analysis, no difference was found in gender, age, tumor size, history of smoking and LVI. Meanwhile, tumor grade (G 1-2 or G 3), pathological T stage (pT a/T 1 or pT 2-4) and PAR (<6.67×10 9 or ≥6.67×10 9) were significantly associated with OS and CSS. Multivariate analysis with a Cox proportional hazards regression model were performed and showed that PAR was significantly associated with OS and CSS (OS: HR=1.850, 95% CI 1.095-3.127, P=0.022; CSS: HR=2.154, 95% CI 1. 242-3.736, P=0.006). Conclusions:Preoperative PAR is an independent prognostic factor in predicting patient with UTUC. And the platelet and serum albumin level are low cost and easy to obtain. PAR may be expected to become a biological factor to predict the prognostic factor in patients with UTUC.

In recent years, with the wide use of antimicrobial agents, the adverse reactions related to antimicrobial agents have attracted more and more attention.Among them, the adverse reactions in hematological system induced by antibacterial agents seriously affect patient′s health and doctor′s selection for antibiotics.For example, some beta lactam antibiotics can cause dysfunction of coagulation and hemolytic anemia.Chloramphenicol and sulfonamides can cause aplastic anemia.Linezolid can cause thrombocytopenia and anemia.It is important to understand the adverse reactions in hematological system caused by antibiotics.In this paper, the antibiotic induced adverse reactions in hematological system and their mechanism were summarized in order to provide information for the rational use of antimicrobial agents.

Objective:To investigate the association between choroidal neovascularization (CNV) and the LIPC gene single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in a Chinese Han population from Shantou. Methods:A case-control study was designed.Two hundred and twenty-one patients with CNV who visited Shantou International Eye Center from January 2010 to December 2016 were enrolled and served as the CNV group, and 430 healthy volunteers matched in age and gender were enrolled and served as the normal control group.Each of 5 ml fasting peripheral blood of the subjects was extracted, and peripheral blood DNA was extracted after anticoagulation.PCR amplification was conducted on SNP loci of LIPC gene including rs10468017, rs920915 and rs2070895.After purification, genotyping was performed on the above SNP loci using the single base extension (SNaPshot) method.Hardy-weinberg equilibrium (HWE) test was used to determine the genotype frequency of the three SNPs of LIPC gene.The gene frequency and genotype frequency of the 3 loci between the CNV group and normal control group were compared.This study followed the Declaration of Helsinki.Written informed consent was obtained from each subject prior to entering the study cohort.The study protocol was approved by the Ethics Committee of Joint Shantou International Eye Center of Shantou University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (No.11-004). Results:The genotype frequency distribution of rs10468017, rs920915 and rs2070895 of the three SNPs of LIPC gene reached genetic balance in the total samples ( P>0.05). The genotype frequencies of rs10468017 TT genotype, rs920915 CC genotype and rs2070895 AA genotype in CNV group were 3.62%, 5.43% and 12.22%, respectively, while those of normal control group were 2.56%, 5.58% and 14.19%, respectively, with no statistically significant difference (all at P>0.05). The minimum allele (T) frequency of rs10468017 was 18.1% and 17.2%, the minimum allele (C) frequency of rs920915 was 21.7% and 23.1%, and the minimum allele (A) frequency of rs2070895 was 33.7% and 38.7% in the CNV group and the normal control group, respectively (all at P>0.05). The odd ratio ( OR) values (95%confidence interval [ CI]) of rs10468017, rs920915 and rs2070895 in the CNV group and the normal control group were 1.06 (0.79-1.44), 0.92 (0.70-1.21) and 0.80 (0.63-1.02), respectively. Conclusions:The results from the present study do not indicate the association of LIPC SNPs (rsl0468017, rs920915 and rs2070895) with CNV in the Shantou Han population.
