Objective To identify homogenous clones of S.flexneri 2a, using gene distribution polymorphism of Shigella enterotoxinl and Shigella enterotoxin2 in a shigellosis outbreak by S.flexneri 2a. Methods 93 strains of S.flexneri 2a isolated from different areas, at different time were detected by Shigella enterotoxin1 and Shigella enterotoxin2 gene polymerase chain reaction to identify genetic type of S.flexneri 2a. Results The 93 strains of S.flexneri 2a were divided into 4 clones: ShET1(-)/ShET2(+)for 12 strains,ShET1(+)/ShET2(-)for 14 strains,ShET1(+)/ShET2(-)for 59 strains, ShET1(-)/ShET2(-)for 8 strains. Conclusions It is believed that Shigella enterotoxin1 and Shigella enterotoxin2 gene PCR analysis is a simple method for the primary screening of S.flexneri 2a.

ThO morbidity of hypocapnia in thO HFOV group was 37.9% (33/87),which in thO CMV group was 21.2% (14/66), which in thO CPAP group was 3.4% (5/149),thO diffOrOncO among thO thrOO groups was statistically significant(χ2 =47.013,P=0.000).Conclusion ThO incidOncO of invasivO vOntilation should bO carOfully considOrOd in prOtOrm infants, OspOcially high frOquOncy vOntilation. AIM:To investigate the relationship between serum ghrelin level and body composition including bone mineral content (BMC),fat mass(FM) & lean mass(LM) in premenopausal women with different thyroid functional status.METHODS:We measured the serum ghrelin levels by radioimmunoassay (RIA),the serum levels of free triiodothyronine (FT3),free thyroxine (FT4) and sensitive thyroid-stimulating hormone (sTSH) by chemiluminescene immune assay.The total body composition including total BMC,FM and LM was measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in 71 premenopausal women with different thyroid functional status (33 hyperthyroidism,18 hypothyroidism and 20 normal subjects).RESULTS:(1) The level of serum ghrelin in patients with hyperthyroidism was significantly lower than that in patients with hypothyroidism (P0.05).The serum ghrelin level was correlated negatively with FT3(r=-0.318,P0.05).CONCLUSION:The serum ghrelin level in the premenopausal women with different thyroid functional status may correlate with the total BMC,LM and body weight.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of systemic fungal infection in patients at auto-psy and its association with clinical data.Methods The materials from unselected adult patients were exa-mined at necropsy in our hospital from1971to2000,and the fungal species were identified by their mor-phologies in pathology.The clinical and pathological data were compared.Results The rate of fungal infec-tion was7.8%(31/396)among396cases.Seventeen(54.8%)of the31cases were infected with as-pergillus.The frequencies of organs involved with fungal infection were83.87%in lungs,48.39%in kid-neys,35.48%in brain and29.03%in heart,respectively.The fungal infection attributed directly to death in21cases.Conclusion Systemic fungal infection is one of the most common fatal causes among the critically ill patients,and aspergillosis becomes a major pathogenic fungus for patients with systemic fungal infection at autopsy.

OBJECTIVE:To try to establish a combined serum-pharmacology and electrophysiology method for the study of mechanism of chuanxiong extract in dilatating coronary artery.METHODS:Chuanxiong extract was intragastrically given to rats and mice,then the serum contents of tetramethylpyrazine(TMP)were determined by HPLC,which provided data for electrophysiological study.The action of chuanxiong extract on Ca 2+ -activated K channel(Kca)of smooth muscle of coronary artery in pigs was studied by patch clamp technique.RESULTS:The calibration curve of TMP was linear in the range of0.216～54?g/ml(r=0.9999).The recovery was100.7%～102.4%.The serum concentrations of TMP in rats and mice were(3.56?3.01)and(8.19?6.57)?g/ml respectively.The chuanxiong extract could not markedly activate the Kca of smooth muscle of coronary artery in patch clamp study.CONCLUSION:The established method for TMP determination is feasible and relieable.In order to improve the combined electrophysiology and serum pharmacology technique,high quality medical materials should be adopted and the bioavailability improved.

Objective To study immunological property of chimeric BPVL1 / HPV16 E7 virus-like particles (VLPs) in mice. Methods HPV16 E7 gene was cut into three fragments, ligated to BPVL1 sequence, respectively, and then expressed as chimeric VLPs. The ability of the chimeric VLPs to stimulate in vivo cytotoxic response was analysed with lymphocytes taken from mice C57BL/6J lymph nodes. Results A strong CTL response against C-2 cells (HPV16 E7 aa47-59 transfected EL-4 cell) was induced in mice immunised with chimeric VLPs BPVL1 / HPV16 E7(b). Furthermore, no CTL response was detected against EL-4 cells in immunized mice. Conclusions Chimeric BPVL1/HPV16 E7 VLPs, serving as antigens, can activate mouse T lymphocytes and elicit a strong antigen-specific CTL response. Chimeric BPVL1/HPV16 E7 VLPs could be used as an efficient antigen delivery system, and might provide a novel strategy for HPV16 vaccine design.

Objective To explore the expression of interleukin 13(IL-13) mRNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and its association with serum C-reaction protein(CRP) in patients with ulcerative colitis(UC). Methods IL-13 mRNA expression in PBMCs was detected by RT-PCR in patients with UC(21 cases of active UC and 10 cases of quiescent UC)and 20 healthy subjects. At the same time, the serum level of CRP was detected by ELISA. Results The expression level of IL-13 mRNA in PBMCs of patients with active UC was significantly lower than that in PBMCs of patients with quiescent UC and healthy subjects (6.45?1.23 vs 14.72?2.12 or 15.17?2.38,P0.05). Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effects of EN,PN support on postoperative recovery of (patients) with portal hypertension. Methods 135 patients with portal hypertension who underwent (esophagogastric) devasularization were randomly divided into three groups:EN,PN and control group. (Postoperatively), EN and PN nutritional support and routine fluid replacement therapy was respectively given to the 3 groups. Several clinical and laboratory parameters were studied in order to determine the therapeutic effect of the two different forms of nutrition.Results Nutritional status and immunological function of patients were improved in both EN and PN study groups but with no significant difference, while alterations in liver function and incidence of abdominal infection were higher in PN group. Conclusions EN is an optimal form of nutritional support for patients with portal hypertension after operation.
