Combining with advances in optogenetics and feedback control of physiological function, we have utilized self-made PPDP (preview, presentation, demonstration, promotion) teaching method to clarify how various physiological functions are regulated by the nervous system and carried out physiological innovation experiment activities. The innovative experiments aim to cultivate students' self-study capability, broaden their vision, enhance their interest in physiology, and finally promote the effect of physiological theory teaching. We herein summarize our practice of closed-loop control of innovative experimental teaching in optogenetics from the following four facets: education concept, students and teacher resources, teaching design, and teaching experience. This summary is trying to explore new experiences of promoting students' participation in teaching activities and improving the teaching quality of physiology.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) with percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture(OVCF) by systematic review. Methods From September 2005 to March 2009,46 cases of fresh OVCF were treated. Patients were divided into 2 groups (A, B), according to Jikei grade, Genant semiquantitative method, injury vertebra number. Twenty-five cases(group A)were treated by PVP,8 males and 17 females with the age of 52 - 78 years (average 69). Vertebra segment of fracture was within T6 - L5 (14 in case thoracical vertebrae and 11 lumbar vertebrae). Twenty-one cases(group B)were treated by PKP,There were 6 males and 15 females with the age of 54 - 82 years (average 71). Vertebra segment of fracture was within T6 - L4 (12 in case thoracical vertebrae and 9 lumbar vertebrae). The clinical efficacy, incidence rate of complication, the anterior height of vertebrae body, visual analogue pain scale(VAS) ,ease of pain were measured preoperatively and at 6 weeks, 3 and 6 months and 1 year postoperatively between the two groups. Results All the patients were followed up for 12 -45 months with an average of 23.5 months. The average recovery of anterior height of vertebrae body was respectively(85.95 ± 4.31) % in group A and (93.64 ± 3.35) % in group B,which statistically difference in vertebral height between two groups (P < 0.05). No statistical significant difference was seen in VAS, analgesic durg (AID) and ease of pain complication between two groups (P >0. 05). Statistical significant difference was noted in pre-postoperatively between intra-two groups (P <0. 05). Conclusions PVP and PKP can quickly relieve pain and enhance vertebral stability in treating thoracolumbar OVCF according to evaluation parameter, and have the similar therapeutic efficacy in treatment of OVCF with minimal invasion. However, PKP is superior in the recovery of vertebral height.

We describe the prenatal diagnosis and postnatal follow-up of a fetus with a pericallosal lipoma diagnosed by MRI. The pregnant woman was admitted to Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University in February 2019. MRI examinations with multiple sequences and imaging methods were performed prenatally at 31 +6 and 38 +3 weeks of gestation, and at two days and three months postnatally. The MRI images showed that the corpus callosum was normal and the lesion was located around the corpus callosum, with high signal intensity on T1 weighted imaging, medium-to-high signal intensity on T2 weighted imaging, and low signal intensity on fat suppression sequence. No abnormal blood vessels were found on susceptibility-weighted imaging and time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography sequences. Based on the prenatal and postnatal MRI findings, the tumor was clinically diagnosed as a pericallosal lipoma.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2014;28(13):942-944
OBJECTIVE:
To review the clinical manifestations and management of nasal sinus mucoceles invaded the skull base and orbit.
METHOD:
Medical records for 30 patients of paranasal sinus mucoceles invaded the skull base and orbit were reviewed retrospectively. CT and MRI were important tools for diagnosing nasal sinus mucocele. The patients received endoscopic surgery to remove mucocele, some of them were operated auxiliary incision. Steroid therapies were given after the operations and routine examination with endoscopy were carried out during follow-up.
RESULT:
All cases were successfully performed surgery without complications after the surgeries, or the majority of symptoms. However, vision recovery was observed only in some patients. Recovery of vision depended on the timing of surgery and severity of initial visual loss. Delay treatment can seriously compromise the recovery of vision impairment. Moreover, the patients without light perception before surgery had poor visual recovery even when optic nerve decompressions were performed.
CONCLUSION
Endoscopic surgery has effect on nasal sinus mucocele with visual loss. Because visual recovery depends on prompt diagnosis and surgical intervention,a good understanding of the disease and prompt imaging studies are important.

Objective To study inflammatory reaction induced by N-protein of severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)-coronavirus(CoV)in human alveolar typeⅡepithelial cell(A549). Methods Effects on growth of A549 cell by N-protein of SARS-CoV:activity of A549 cells was determined by thiazylyl blue colorimetry assay at 24,48,72 and 96 h,respectively.Effects on cyto- kine production by A549 cells exposed to N-protein of SARS-CoV:interleukin(IL)-6,IL-10 and transforming growth factor-?1(TGF-?1)concentration in culture supernatant were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Effects on mRNA expression of cytokine of A549 cells and matrix metalloproteinases-9(MMP-9)exposed to N-protein of SARS-CoV:total RNA of A549 cells was extracted using Rneasy mini kit;RT-PCR was employed to measure the mRNA expression of IL-6,IL-10,TGF-?1 and MMP-9 semiquantitatively. Results Different concentrations of N-protein could all inhibit the growth of A549 cells(after 48 h)and the inhibition by 20?g/mL pro- tein was the strongest.Compared with the control group(0.737?0.024,0.968?0.007),the A val- ues of experimental groups at 72 h and 96 h(0.672?0.027,0.799?0.092)decreased obviously (P

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of conventional MRI combined with DWI in the differential diagnosis of orbital lymphoproliferative disorders (LPD). Methods As a retrospective study, 42 patients were enrolled, including 23 orbital lymphoma and 19 benign orbital LPD confirmed pathologically or clinically. These patients underwent conventional MR, DWI and contrast?enhanced MRI examination of orbit. Qualitative MR imaging features [location, margin, patient ratio of involved quadrants (≥2), signal intensity,“flow void sign”, sinusitis] and quantitative features [ADC and contrast enhanced ratio of the lesion to temporal muscle (CER)] were evaluated. Chi?square test and t test were used for the analysis of qualitative and quantitative features between lymphoma and benign orbital LPD groups, respectively. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was employed to identify the significant variable for predicting malignant LPD. ROC analysis was used to evaluate the ability of the diagnostic models established based on identified variables. Results “Flow void sign”(9 lymphomas and 17 benign LPDs) and sinusitis (5 lymphomas and 13 benign LPDs) were statistically significant (P<0.05). The MR imaging features [location, margin, patient ratio of involved quadrants (≥2), and signal intensity] had no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Both ADC [(0.79±0.09)×10?3 mm2/s of lymphoma, (1.29±0.35)×10?3 mm2/s of benign LPD] and CER (1.43±0.17 of lymphoma, 1.79±0.31 of benign LPD) between the two groups had significant difference (t=-6.630, -8.257;P<0.01). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that ADC value, CER and“flow void sign”were significant variables for predicting malignant orbital LPD (P<0.05). ROC curve showed that ADC value was the most significant single variable in differentiating orbital LPD [threshold value, 0.74 × 10- 3 mm2/s; areas under ROC curve (AUC), 0.97; sensitivity, 87.0%; specificity, 94.7%]. Combination of ADC and CER could further improve the specificity in differentiating benign from malignant orbital LPD (AUC, 0.90;sensitivity, 78.3%;specificity, 100.0%, accuracy 88.1%). Conclusions ADC, CER and“flow void sign”on T2WI were significant variables for predicting malignant orbital LPD. ADC value was the most significant single variable. Combination of ADC and CER could further improve the specificity in differentiating benign from malignant orbital LPD.
