Chinese Journal of Analytical Chemistry 2014;(10):1513-1517
By using microwave extraction, a GC/MS method was developed for the determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons ( PAHs) content in soil which is around the discharge ditch of oily wastewater, and a correlation analysis of the content of organic matter in soil was carried out. The results showed that PAHs in the surface soil pollution were mainly from 2 to 4 rings of low molecular PAHs, and the PAHs with high molecular were not detected. Each sampling point belongs to slight or moderate pollution and the overall assessment is moderate pollution, which is middle and low lever in comparison with soil data of central regions. The origin may be the low molecular PAHs of oil pollution along with the atmospheric transmission, but it cannot be completely excluded the possibility of fuel combustion pollution. No obvious correlation was found between the content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and organic matter.

Objective:To establish an in vivo model of acute radiation esophagitis in Wistar rats based on a small animal precision radiotherapy platform (SARRP). Methods:Thirty-six Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group, 40, 60 and 75 Gy groups. Based on MRI images, the esophageal target area of rats was outlined and the radiotherapy plan was formulated. The rats were respectively irradiated with 0, 8, 12 and 15 Gy per day for 5 consecutive days. The changes of body weight, food intake, esophageal pathology and magnetic resonance imaging were observed. Results:The body weight of rats in 75 Gy group decreased significantly on the 6th day after irradiation (IR) ( P<0.05). The esophageal tissue of rats in each IR group was thicker than that in control ( F = 14.20, P < 0.05). HE staining showed that the formation rate of radiation-induced esophagitis in 40 Gy and 60 Gy groups were 4/5 and 5/5, respectively, mainly mild. In 75 Gy group, the incidence of radiation-induced esophagitis approached to 5/5, of which 3/5 was severe at 9 d post-IR. The pathological injury scores [ M( Q1, Q3)] of rats in each group were 0, 1.0 (0.5, 2.5), 1.0 (1.0, 2.5) and 4.0 (1.5, 6.0) on the 9th day after IR. There was significant difference between the 75 Gy group and the control group ( H=12.69, P<0.05). After dynamic monitoring of neck MRI images, it was found that the esophageal signal of rats in each IR group increased and widened at 9 d post-irradiation. Conclusions:The animal model of acute radiation-induced esophagitis in rats was successfully established based on a small animal precision radiotherapy platform combined with MRI. 75 Gy was the best irradiation dose and the 9th day was the best observation time point.

Immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment is an important obstacle to tumor immunotherapy. Therefore, improving tumor microenvironment to enhance immune response is the key to improve the efficacy of immunotherapy.Based on the basic principle of immunology that the body has a strong response to"foreign"antigens and a weak response to preexisting antigens, pathogen infection can be combined with innate immune-related receptors to enhance the anti-tumor immune response.Pathogen vaccines can induce a"hot"tumor microenvironment with stronger antigen presentation and T lymphocyte activation, showing higher response to immunotherapy and having better security. In this review,we summarized the related studies on pathogen vaccine enhancing tumor immune response, including mixed bacterial vaccine,BCG vaccine,OK-432,synthetic vaccines based on tetanus toxin, modified vaccinia virus, influenza vaccine,Epstein-Barr virus and COVID-19 vaccine. The feasibility, application prospect and challenge of pathogen vaccine in tumor immunotherapy were discussed.

Objective:To analyze the influence of work engagement and self-efficacy of nurses on clinical practice ability in burn intensive care unit (BICU), and to explore its potential pathways of action. Methods:A cross-sectional survey was conducted. From May to October 2020, a total of 30 hospitals with BICU in China were selected by stratified sampling method. Among BICU nurses who met the inclusion criteria, their clinical practice ability, work engagement, and self-efficacy were evaluated by self-evaluation scale of oriented problem-solving behavior in nursing practice (OPSN), Utrecht work engagement scale (UWES), and general self-efficacy scale (GSES), respectively. The total scale scores of each index and the average item scores were recorded. The self-designed general data questionnaire was used to investigate the nurses' gender, age, marital status, education background, working years, professional title, and the economic region of the hospital that they belonged to. The total scale scores of the above-mentioned three evaluation indexes were compared after the classification of nurses according to general data, and the data were statistically analyzed with independent sample t test or one-way analysis of variance. Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between the total scale scores of the three evaluation indexes. Based on the total scale scores of the above-mentioned three evaluation indexes, a structural equation model was established, the mediation analysis of the relationship among the three evaluation indexes and the pathway analysis of the structural model were conducted, and the Bootstrap method was used to verify the pathways of action. Results:A total of 401 questionnaires were distributed, and 337 valid questionnaires were returned, with a valid return rate of 84.04%. The total scale scores of clinical practice ability, work engagement, and self-efficacy of 337 nurses were 98.2±11.7, 67.7±18.6, and 26.6±5.6, respectively, and the average item scores were 3.9±0.5, 4.5±1.2, and 2.7±0.6, respectively. Among the 337 nurses, the majority were female, aged 40 or below, married, and had a bachelor's degree with work experience of ≤10 years; both nurses with professional nurse title and nurses from the Southeast region accounted for about 50%. There were statistically significant differences in the total scale score of clinical practice ability among nurses with different ages, education backgrounds, working years, and professional titles (with F values of 3.26, 4.36, 3.12, and 2.80, respectively, P<0.05). There was statistically significant difference in the total scale score of work engagement among nurses with different working years ( F=4.50, P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in the total scale score of self-efficacy among nurses with different ages, working years, and professional titles (with F values of 4.91, 4.50, and 2.91, respectively, P<0.05). The total scale score of nurses' work engagement was significantly positively correlated with the total scale score of clinical practice ability and the total scale score of self-efficacy (with r values of 0.30 and 0.51, respectively, P<0.05). The total scale score of nurses' self-efficacy was significantly positively correlated with the total scale score of clinical practice ability ( r=0.37, P<0.05). The model had good adaptability, and the intermediary model was established. Nurses' work engagement had a significantly positive effect on both self-efficacy and clinical practice ability (with β values of 0.54 and 0.16, respectively, P<0.05), and nurses' self-efficacy had a significantly positive effect on clinical practice ability ( β=0.29, P<0.05). Work engagement had a direct effect on self-efficacy and clinical practice ability, and self-efficacy had a direct effect on clinical practice ability and played a mediating role between work engagement and clinical practice ability. Bootstrap validation showed that self-efficacy played a significantly mediating role in the influence of work engagement on clinical practice ability (with effect size of 0.16, with 95% confidence interval of 0.08-0.24, P<0.05), accounting for half of the total effect of work engagement on clinical practice ability (with effect size of 0.32). Conclusions:BICU nurses have an above-average level of clinical practice ability, a medium level of self-efficacy, and a high level of work engagement. Work engagement and self-efficacy are positively correlated with clinical practice ability. Work engagement can directly affect clinical practice ability or indirectly affect clinical practice ability through the mediating role of self-efficacy.

BACKGROUND:Subepithelial connective tissue grafts are generally considered as the gold standard for soft tissue augmentation. However,it needs a second surgical site, which will prolong the surgical time and increase patients'pain. OBJECTIVE:To compare the histological and thickness changes of attached gingiva following grafting with different soft tissue substitutes in the labial region of the cuspids. METHODS:In three Beagle dogs, attached gingival augmentation was performed with double-layer allogeneic acellular dermal matrix membrane(AADM),bovine-derived acellular dermal matrices(BADM)combined with concentrated growth factor membrane or BADM combined with collagen sponge.Thickness of attached gingiva was measured before augmentation, and 1,2,3,and 4 months after augmentation.Histological analyses were performed after 4 months. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The mean values of attached gingival thickness and attached gingival thickness augmentation were higher in the double-layer AADM group than in the other two groups(all P<0.05)from the 1st to 4th month after surgery. At 1 month after surgery, the attached gingival thickness of the three groups increased significantly and then decreased. At 3 months after surgery, the BADM combined with collagen sponge group and the BADM combined with concentrated growth factor membrane group showed no significant difference in the attached gingival thickness of the graft area compared with that before surgery(P>0.05).At 4 months after surgery, the mean value of attached gingival thickness in the double-layer AADM group was still significantly increased compared with that before surgery(P<0.05).The value of attached gingival thickness was highest in the double-layer AADM group, followed by the BADM combined with collagen sponge group, and the lowest in the BADM combined with concentrated growth factor membrane group at 1-4 months after surgery.Histological analyses revealed that AADM was well integrated with the host gingival tissue, and new fibrous connective tissue and fibroblasts grew into the AADM.But the grafts in the other two groups were absorbed and the augmentation area was remodeled into a structure consistent with the surrounding host tissue. To conclude,AADM is superior to BADM combined with concentrated growth factor and BADM combined with collagen sponge with regard to gingival augmentation.
