1.The tonic effects of "Thap Toan Dai Bo" pills on experimental rats
Journal of Practical Medicine 2004;484(8):6-8
The oral use of "Thap Toan Dai Bo" pills on experimental rats showed a tonic effect with a tonic coefficient of 1.9230.333. 80% of animals had had positive increase of weight. The dose of 0.1ml/10g and 0.2ml/10g, the effect of improving the memory was notified in the time of study. The staying time in light room T (second) and the rate of positive memory in the group of rat using "Thap Toan Dai Bo" was higher than control group with a statistical significant difference. The preparation has not poisonous, without side effect.

2.The variations of the plasma hemoglobin concentration, electrolytes concentrations and the plasma LDH activity in the blood stored at the Central Blood Tranfusion and Hematology Institute
Journal of Practical Medicine 2004;487(9):61-62
This longitudinal prospective study was carried out on 6 blood samples of 6 male volunteers at National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to examine the changes biochemical parameters, shape of blood cells, and variations of all blood components during blood store. Results: plasma Hb and K+ concentrations and LDH activity in stored blood increased significantly; plasma Na+ and Cl concentrations decreased significantly along the time. These variations occurred in the first week of store. There were changes in the shape of red blood cells during blood store.

3.Serodiagnosis of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) by MAC-ELISA in Bach Mai hospital from 1997-2001
Journal of Medical Research 2003;23(3):21-27
Studying on 1405 sera were collected from 1159 patients ( male 58.55%; female 41.44%) with encephalitis syndromes which were treated in Bach Mai hospital. Using MAC-ELISA to estimate antibody for Japanese Encephalitis in these patients. The results were as following:
The general positive rate was 16.64%
The positive rates by MAC-ELISA were 16.54% (46/278), 10.31% (22/223),...and 13.36% (25/187) in 1997, 1998,...and 2001, respectively.
The positive rates for males were 58.55%; female 41.44%.
The positive rates divided by the age: 1-15 years, 36.84%; 16-60 years 63.16%.

4.Investigation of the hepato - protective activity of lignane from Phyllanthus niruri L. on the hepato - toxic model by D-GaLN/TNF - ?
Pharmaceutical Journal 2005;0(8):10-11
Liver protective achivity of Lignan from Phyllanthus niruri on experimantal model of D.GaIN/TNF. Alpha induced intoxication on liver cells. Phyllanthus niruri is planted in Tuy Hoa in June and harvested in Octorber 2000. Main lignan compronents exerted liver protective activity on experimental model. From these components, nirathin with the lowest concentration had manifested the highest activity

5.Detection of Leishmania SP. by PCR method
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2003;13(1):23-25
There is a conservative region of more than 130 bp long in the mitochondria genome of Leishmania mexicana M379 clone E8, and this it is found across many other Leishmania spp. Based on this notion, a pair of PCR primers were designed to amplify the corresponding regions in the minicircles of many other Leishmania species such as L.major, L.donovani. PCR method can be used to detect protozoa in Vietnam

7.Using PCR technique to multiply NS4 gene of hepatitis C virus by deep vent DNA polymerase enzyme
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;503(2):5-6
Process of multiply NS4 gene of hepatitis C virus by PCR technique used with cDNA supplied from ARN. Couple of specific preys for NS4 gene and catalytic enzyme was Deep Vent ADN polymerase. Suitable MgSO4 level to multiply NS4 was 4mM. Fasten prey temperature was factor affecting to specificity of product. Result of electrophoresis showed that the most suitable temperature was 55oC and 57OC. In 200 µM dNTPs level, PCN product was sharp and correct to primary predictable size, in 50 or 100 µM dNTPs level, PCR wasn’t viewed, in 150 µM level, PCR was more blear than using 200 µM level. So dNTPs level was 200 µM

8.Manufacture of MAC-ELISA applied in diagnosis of measles IgG antibody
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;503(2):38-39
Study serum of 443 health adults over 20 years old, negativeness with HIV and HBV and serum of 408 health childrens from 2 to 10 years old in Ha noi, Hai Phong and Thanh Hoa. Measles antigen were refined from Vero cell causing infection of Edmonton strain by Gradi extra centrifugal method with Sucrose density 20-60%. HA value of 1/11,024 showed high antigen specificity. 6 bunchs of protein were correllated with specific polypeptid strings of measles virus. After that, technical process and MAC ELISA-IgG were completed. Results: rate of measles immune response in adults was 100%, in which IgG value was high in 24%, moderate in 73.1% and low in 2.8%. Rate of serum IgG value in children was different to adults: positive serum 88%, negative 8.5%. Negative rate showed that the vaccine boosters were necessary

9.Supine bicycle of stress echocardiography (SBSE) for detecting coronary artery disease (CAD)
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;530(11):22-26
The study was conducted in 47 patients (34 males, 13 females) with coronary artery disease or suspected coronary artery disease who were underwent SBSE from May 2002 to October 2004 at 115 People Hospital. Results: CAD was presented in 22 patients: among which, 7 cases with lesion of one major branch, 7 cases with two branches and 8 case with three branches of coronary artery. SBSE test was positive in 20/22 patients, overall sensitivity of 91%, specificity of 80% and accuracy of 85%. The sensitivity was greatest for the font interventricle artery (81%), compared to sensitivity for right coronary artery and the left coronary artery was 56% and 31%, respectively (p<0.005). For identifying patients with multivessels CAD, sensitivity 55%, specificity 97% and accuracy 83%. SBSE is a useful tool for evaluating CAD, and identifying both the location and extent of disease.

10.Obstetric ultrasound scanning in urban Vietnam: Is it being over used?
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;530(11):34-37
The study was conducted at Hanoi Obstetrical and Gynecological Hospital, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods. Results: the study showed that there was a tendency for pregnant women to over-use ultrasound scanning. The reasons for this included women’s perceptions of the usefulness of ultrasound scanning, their serious worries for the fetus, as well as the effects of the market economy on this health service. Over-use of obstetrical ultrasound scanning was not only related to the perception, demands and psychology of pregnant women, but also to socio-economic changes associated with the economic reforms and the liberalization of the health care system.
