[Objective]This study was designed to discover the expression of histamine H4 receptor in allergic rhinitis(AR)and its clinical significance.[Methods]Seventy-three patients with allergic rhinitis and 30 volunteers were recruited in our study.Western blot and Real-time fluorescent quantification PCR were used to detect the protein and mRNA expression of H4R on peripheral blood monocytes(PBMC).To analyze the relationship between the H4R and allergic rhinitis,the level of serum interleukin 4(IL-4)and interleukin 12(IL-12)were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbnent assay(ELISA)in the AR group.[Results]The protein and mRNA expression of H4R in the AR group were significantly higher than that in the NAR group.Person correlation analysis revealed that H4R was positively correlated with IL-4(r=0.71,P＜0.01)and negatively correlated with IL-12(r=-0.50,P＜0.01).The expression of H4R also had positive relationship with IL-4/IL-12 ratio(r=0.75,P＜0.01).[Conclusion]These results indicate that histamine H4 receptor is closely related with allergic rhinitis and is important in the pathogenesis of AR.The elevated expression of H4R in AR patients' PBMC may be closely correlated with Th1/Th2 balance.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expression of HPA, CK2beta and HIF-1alpha gene in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) tissues, and the correlation between their expression with the clinical characteristics of NPC and the relativity of HPA, CK2beta and HIF-1alpha gene in NPC tissues. METHOD: HPA, CK2beta and HIF-1alpha were detected with Super-Vision immunohistochemical method using antibody in 49 NPC specimens and 30 specimens with chronic nasopharyngitis tissue (CNT). RESULT: The expression of HPA, CK2beta and HIF-1alpha in NPC tissue were significantly higher than those in CNT tissue (P<0.05, separately). The expression of HPA, CK2beta and HIF-1alpha were significantly related to the TNM stage and whether recurrence or metastasis occur after treatment (P<0.05, separate ly), but there was no obvious correlation between its expression and the sex of NPC patient (P>0.05). The expression of HIF-1alpha was significantly related to the age of NPC patient (P<0.05), while HPA, CK2beta were not. The expression of HPA, CK2beta and HIF-1alpha in NPC tissue was positively correlated with each other (P<0.05, separately). CONCLUSION HPA, CK2beta and HIF-1alpha play synergetic role in development of NPC, which plays an important role in invasiveness,recurrence and metastasis of NPC. There could be a positive cooperation among HPA, CK2beta and HIF-1alpha in the carcinogenesis and development of NPC.

OBJECTIVE: To detect the level of TGF-beta, IL-10 and IL-17 in the allergic rhinitis(AR) patients pre- and post-specific immunotherapy (SIT). METHOD: The level of TGF-beta, IL-10 and IL-17 in serum of 48 AR patients were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay before SIT. and the nasal symptom score (NSS) was evaluated in the first and second year after SIT. At the same time. 35 healthy persons were made as normal. RESULT: (1) The level of TGF-beta and IL-10 in serum of AR patients were lower than that of normal group (P < 0.05). The level of TGF-beta and IL-10 in AR patients taken SIT for two years was lower than that of patients with one year SIT (P < 0.05), but it was higher than that of patients pre-immunotherapy (P < 0.05). However, The level of TGF-beta and IL-10 in the group that taken SIT for two years was still lower than that of normal group (P < 0.05). (2) The level of IL-17 in serum of AR patients pre- immunotherapy was higher than that of normal group (P < 0.05). The level of IL-17 continuously declined after taking SIT, However it was higher than that of normal group two years later (P < 0.05). (3) In AR patients pre-immunotherapy and post- immunotherapy for 2 years, the level of IL-10 and TGF-beta showed negative correlation with NSS respectively, the level of IL-17 was positive related to NSS respectively (P < 0.05). But the level of IL-10, TGF-beta and IL-17 showed no correlation with NSS respectively (P > 0.05) when SIT was taken for one year. CONCLUSION IL-10 and TGF-beta were fluctuated in AR patients taking SIT, which raised first and then dropped. but the level of IL-10 and TGF-beta was higher than that of pre- immunotherapy. However, the level of IL-17 continuously declined in the whole process. It showed that the level change of IL-10, TGF-beta and IL-17 correlate with patients' symptom only two years after SIT,so the level change of IL-10, TGF-beta and IL-17 can be used as an index for evaluating the treatment effectiveness of SIT at that time.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of human nuclear distribution (hNudC) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). METHOD: Immunohistochemical and western blot method were used to determine the expression of human nuclear distribution C in 80 cases of NPC and 30 cases of chronic inflammation of nasopharyngeal mucosa. The amounts of positive cells were analyzed . The relationship between the gene expression and clinic pathological features was analyzed too. RESULT: The positive expression rate of human nuclear distribution C in NPC was 83.75%, which was higher than that in chronic inflammation of nasopharyngeal mucosa 23.33% (P < 0.05). The expression of human nuclear distribution C was positively correlated with the clinic pathological stages in NPC (P < 0.05), and positive expression rate of hNudC protein was increased with the progress of NPC clinical stage (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Human nuclear distribution C is found to be closely associated with cell malignant hyperplasia. This protein is important indicators to predict the progression of patients.

OBJECTIVE: To study the microanatomy by endoscope-assisted via retrolabyrinthine approach. METHOD: Nineteen cadaveric heads fixed with formalin were dissected in our study. The data that endoscope could be extent and the distance between the important point were measured. By simulated the retrolabyrinthine approach, endoscope was placed to observe the nerves and vessels, the distance between nerves and the central point of the anterior edge of sigmoid sinus were measured. RESULT: The distance from the inferior margin of petrous ridge to the upper bound of endolymphatic sac was (9.93+/-1.52)mm; and from superior margin of petrous ridge to the inferior margin common bony crus was (4.64+/-0.91)mm;and from the intersection of posterior semicircular canal to the anterior wall of sigmoid was (7.85+/-1.47)mm on the left, and (5.69+/-1.68)mm on the right. The distance from inferior margin common bony crus to the anterior wall of sigmoid was (13.9+/-1.71)mm on the left, and (11.31+/-2.03)mm on the right. The trochlear nerve and abducent nerve could be observed under endoscope. The relationship between the trigeminal nerve, acoustic nerve and the vessels could be identified clearly. The distance from the central point of the anterior edge of sigmoid to the roots of the trigeminal nerve, facial nerve, vestibulocochlear nerve and glossopharyngeal nerve were (29.88+/-2.77) mm, (32.04+/-2.04) mm, (29.17+/-1.65) mm, (35.49+/-1.53) mm respectively. CONCLUSION The visual field of the cerebellopontine angle appear wider by the endoscope assisted retrolabyrinthine approach. Nerves, vessel, internal acoustic pore, jugular foramen region can be clearly seen. Some minimal invasive surgery can be done by this approach.
